Underworld – Rez / Why, Why, Why - The Salmon Pink. Not the Shocking Pink.
http://www.discogs.com/Underworld-Re...elease/1254617 Does anyone know how many of these promos' were produced? Discogs says that the Salmon Pink was the first release, but the Shocking Pink was a commercial bootleg, BUT on the description for the Salmon Pink - it says that many bootlegs exist. How can you tell which ones are bootlegs? |
Re: collectors' corner
Matt explains this on his bootleg page (in the Pressing Vinyl section):
http://www.bigscreensatellite.com/bootleg.htm Basically, it's difficult to mix the exact shade of pink used on the original pressing. So, if the pink doesn't match (i.e. it's "Shocking" pink), then it's a bootleg. |

Re: collectors' corner
wow, nice find, if legit.
|
Re: collectors' corner
i've seen at least 6 legit copies and they are all the same colour pale / salmon pink, if its not pale pink / salmon - so any other variant of pink, i'd suggest its a boot. you'll know...

The colour is very cool. It's not completely solid. Thx for the info. |
Re: collectors' corner
hey, underworld collectors, i need some help:
i bought mmm... skyscraper i love you 12" and i've some doubts about its authenticity, mainly because its sleeve is... well, flimsy. most underworld 12" come in cardboard sleeves and this one is made of paper. the vinyl has the etchings and everything. other thing that seems odd are the labels: jamscraper's side has one name outside the label, i mean, it's like the label was too small to contain the name of the mix and it was cut out. is this a label mistake? i haven't seen any pictures of the labels of this release so i was really weirded out when i saw the labels on my record. i've one pic, it's the sleeve (ignore the other record): http://twitpic.com/6pvf11 |
Re: collectors' corner
The Skyscraper sleeve is very flimsy. That looks legit.
|
Re: collectors' corner
Looks genuine to me. The Skyscraper single had no spine and was very flimsy.
|
Re: collectors' corner
thanks :) i was pretty worried about getting a bootleg, after reading some of the seller's history on ebay. this release is quite old so i guess they're experimenting with the packaging (?)

A while ago - I was trying to track down a download of the Kalevala singles but - for the life of me, I couldn't remember what the name of the "label" was - I ended up going onto http://www.klf.de/ and saw this 'news entry' or whatever you'd call it about "the FLK" I don't think that they're really a "covers band" necessarily, but they seem to do a lot of stuff that references the KLF (and more than just the name) although - I was never a really HUGE fan of the KLF... so... they could be just a 'covers band' (or even Bill & Jimmy for all I know - but I DOUBT that) oh wait... they have a website too -> http://theflk.com/ [edit] oh btw - I did end up finding those Kalevala singles. I had them (as mp3's) before, but my external hd was ruined, and I lost them. If you haven't heard the Kalevala material... it's "ok" - but there are definitely 2 or 3 really nice tracks |

i believe that record has nothing to do with the KLF, there are no credits besides some 'thank you' notes and it mentions it's the first release of many to come. anyone interested in more pics (or rips)? i can post them somewhere else. |

I finally managed to buy Mother Earth/The Hump at discogs.
Do you think that price 84.99 Uk Pounds was ok, in 2011? Who else have a copy? |

Re: collectors' corner
Just got AHDO on vinyl for $7 - brand new!
anybody want to sell Dubno LP? |
Re: collectors' corner
Not bad - your post got me to checking, and AHDO isn't TOO bad on vinyl... think I'll grab a copy... lucked into DubNoBass and Beaucoup Fish for REALLY reasonable prices over the last few years, but somehow haven't snagged anything else. Weird. Need to grab some more on vinyl.

Re: collectors' corner
"No, honey, of course I'm not starting to collect vinyl. I mean, that'd be ridiculous, me not even having a record player and all."
Girlfriend leaving room, frowning disbelievingly. *me thinking* "Grabbing only the ones with beautiful artwork isn't really 'collecting', now, is it?" |

I imagine the value of stuff may increase due to Olympic involvement,

Re: collectors' corner

not unless its olympic related. i wouldn't expect danny boyles stuff to go up in value either. if it was rare before, it will still be rare afterwards. unless its re-released material. later -1 |

Re: collectors' corner
I've also gotten some good UW vinyl from www.gemm.com. Just read the descriptions, seller terms, and ratings carefully.
Speaking of vinyl, can anyone who purchased the UK version of Barking please PM me the runout etchings on each side, or post them to the Discogs entry here: http://www.discogs.com/Underworld-Ba...elease/2454695 Thanks. |

But I have the theory: Miles Showell made a lacquer cut in Metropolis mastering studio ( I think that he did also OWB cut), where he mastered it and put there his fanmous mark: M I assume, that he printed runout etching what we know from US version on 180gram vinyl as its on discogs and I confirm this its on my vinyl too. But I assume that both versions were made from the same lacquer cut by Miles, so Runout etching will be the same. What do you think of my theory? I did a little research, look at my vinyl, at discogs also and this is my theory. Ps. And thank you both for the sites: ebay, discogs, gemm and amazon. I didnt use gemm to this day, I should try it. |
Re: collectors' corner
Thanks for the info, undarrenworld. I've sorted it on Discogs now. The person who entered the "US" vinyl actually had a UK one. I've added your runout etchings to the original UK release entry, and converted the fake US entry into a real US entry. The Om Records release for the US has different runout etchings and different labels with an Om catalog number, but reuses the same cover as the UK release.

Re: collectors' corner
Crikey - somebody's got 'Rez/Why Why Why' on Gemm for $120... Seems pretty hefty?
(Edit - just noticed it's been there for over 2 years...) |
