Re: Good Day Today

I didn't know he was on "Cleveland" either... I watched like one episode, and didn't really like it (I'm totally burnt out on "Family Guy" as well)

as far as David Lynch being a "serious" director - you should also check out his 'absurdist comedy' called "On the Air" that he did while filming "Twin Peaks" -> it's weird, and kinda slapstick too...

but now the big question - How can you get a PROPER copy of the song?

I had no idea David Lynch made music at all.

Didn't he collaborate with MOBY?

Wow, the character he plays in The Cleveland Show even looks like him. I've never seen the show, but I'm obviously familiar with Family Guy; I'm veeery surprised he's involved in it. I know he's a very serious, artistic director. I guess everyone has a humorous side to them, though.

That could be but Family Guy hasn't had anything to do with humor for a good 6 years.

Yeah, I tried watching the "newer" episodes of Family guy a few years ago and the comedy felt so forced...and after watching the reruns they show on tv from the early years, I have no intention to watch Family Guy ever again.

I logged into my girlfriend's twitter account and asked David Lynch if he plans on releasing the song. I doubt he'll respond, but it's worth a shot.

Sorry for the double-post, but I just saw this and it had me cracking up, especially because of the music in the background. Here's David Lynch's thoughts about watching a movie on an iPhone:

as far as "in the studio on a song together" - no, I don't think so...

but - David Lynch did do the video for Moby's "Shot in the Back of the Head"

and ... I think it was last year - or the year before it - David Lynch had a special day-long lecture series/ event out here near Iowa City (Fairfield, IA where the Maharishi University is)

part of the event was a live concert with Moby. Donovan also played
but I didn't get a chance to actually go

oh wait - I was going to post up a clip of Lynch's "Ghost of Love" but I found this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dpipJFmpGjU

i guess they are collaborating...

Hah, funny that the very first thought I had with Good Day Today was "is this Moby?". Hopefully this track will get a proper release.

Yeah, the practically invariant beat is very Moby, as is the need to vocode the heck outta his voice for it to sound cool. But i guess it's DL's voice (maybe?). IF it were a Moby track, there'd be the inevitable 4 chord string melody - it tugged at the heartstrings with "God Moving Across the Face of the Waters" in 1995 or whatever, but sheesh, he overuses the tinkly pianos and strings.

Re: David Lynch: Good Day Today

I miss the old days where Moby made tracks like "God Moving Over the Face of the Waters." That track is probably his peak moment to me; especially when you see it during the ending shot for the film Heat (don't get me started on that movie...so good). I even love his Animal Rights, which most people tend to pretend never happened. His newest album is good, but I don't know, it just doesn't have the same effect on me as his 90's material does. But in any case, "Good Day Today" reminds me of the good ol' 90's Moby and that's a good thing.

And that definitely sounds like DL's voice on the track.
