It is a pity the Underworld "What dog" remix isn't included, though.

What i want to know is, how does the Tiefscwarz Remix sound? Any good?

it's ok, nothing special. very similar to the pig and dan mix.

iTunes Plus (256 Kbps DRM-free AAC) version of this is available on iTunes UK Store now too.

really now, there's nothing vaguely depressing about seeing the same song tracklisted 6 times with a different remixer at the helm? would it be so murderously hard to throw an original track or two in? god knows they're kicking around in spades.

i'd like to buy the singles but presently i simply cant justify it. i'm not interested in what tiefschwartz does to an underworld song. it just belongs to neither of them anymore for the sake of brief club play.

they wont even put their own remixes on the disc

Re: Beautiful Burnout release date

Dubman, i agree with you fully. I've often wondered how many remixes never get played. A lot, i'd bet. Bless the producers who toiled to remix the track (and it must be something of an honor to be asked to remix UW anyway), but in my mind, a track's gotta be pretty huge on its own right before the crowds get tired of it and dancefloor remixes are warranted. Otherwise, it's just a dillution of the original and rarely fun for headphone listening.

I'm looking forward to BB mostly on the strength of the extended version.
But yes, why can't we get a little UW rarity sumpin'-sumpin' to round out the 80 minutes and encourage some sales?

My money's on another Riverrun release in summer...rather than many b-sides getting released via the singles.

Just found out that my Dutch iTunes account gives me a track more with the Beautiful Burnout EP.
Next to the 4 tracks that are within the UK release there is the R59 Live Mix Version (9:13).
Just downloaded it and it appears to be the What Dog Mix.

Pretty cool to have a proper version of it. But a bit weird that it isn't available for the UK...

...and a bit weird that people in the US can't get it

(and still not that JAL EP that was only available on Japanese iTunes)

BUT THE WEIRDEST THING....

...is that you can't buy ANY of the tracks / singles that have been released with Underworldlive as the label on Underworldlive.com's shop

The What Dog mix seems to be available on all the EU iTunes stores, except the UK. Weird.

can't be it either....

Turned out to be a real promo. They're the same MP3's on the CD though as the ones that we purchased for download. The whole series is too long to fit on a CDDA.

which is probably why it went for a dirt cheap price...

Yes. The web version was 32 KHz AAC streamed at approx. 96-128 Kbps. The iTunes downloads are 44.1 KHz AAC at 256 Kbps.

I haven't heard the download track myself, but if you fade out the What Dog video at 9:13, that would just about be right.

I tried to compare it, but the original webpost doesn't seem to load anymore at my pc.
But if you wanna compare it, the vocals kick in at exactly 1:00.
The file I've downloaded through iTunes is a 256 kbps AAC-file, so pretty good quality IMO :)

Re: Beautiful Burnout release date

Now that the hot subject and talk talk talk has fallen on extra/exclusive tracks, b-sides, cute remixes and other random stuff, has anyone else noticed that JAL To Tokyo LIVE is on the iTunes-version of Oblivion With Bells...? I noticed it because I was just browsing around (I live in Denmark by the way), I had originally just imported the OWB-cd into my iTunes library, and then I downloaded JAL To Tokyo Live and I'm pretty sure it really is the Live version of it from the JAL EP... Like, sort of a bonus track kinda thing... But wasn't that Japan-exclusive? If it is, then why the hell is it available on Danish iTunes...?
Sorry if I misled this topic into some dark and gloomy area that isn't to be discussed... Just ignore it, if that is the case....

TheBang 01-16-2008 09:24 PM

Re: Beautiful Burnout release date

JAL to Tokyo live, the first track on the 3-disc Live in Tokyo 2005 set, was included as a bonus track on OwB on iTunes in the U.S. and EU (including UK) stores, but not the JP store, which has Loads of Birds instead.

I got a listen to the download now. It is the What Dog Mix. There's a minor 15 second trim somewhere between 6:00 and 7:00, and then it fades out about 40 seconds earlier than the video.

weird update...

so - now ALL mixes are "territory restricted" on beatport... so if you're like me, and didn't buy the .wav files when it first came out - you're SOL

but... now - the single's available as 320kbps mp3 (and cheaper) over on bleep.com and the release is not territory restricted....

weird

Man am I glad to see other people saying this too. I literally just put the digital download of the single in my shoppig cart, then decided to listen to the clips before buying (I usually don't with Underworld releases). After a quick listen, I didn't buy it. I'm all for remixes, but these are just boring to me. When I buy Underworld releases, I want some freakin' Underworld, dammit!

Yes it is. I guess I was just trying to point out that there is another one on eBay from a different seller. Meaning that these are starting to pop up more often now. The only difference on this one is that there is actaully of picture of the back of the CD. But again, it's not a great picture.

On a side note:
This probably isn't the correct thread/forum for this, but I found this on eBay today too!

Regarding the BB promo CD mentioned above... I picked up a copy on eBay recently... It arrived with a printed sleeve and disc and looks quite official, but I haven't read anything (Discogs, Wiki, etc) confirming this... Anyone know if this is an official release (or a high-quality boot)?

Here's the details...

Beautiful Burnout
DIFB 1087 CDSP - 451.1087.221
PIAS Recordings / Different

1. BB [Radio edit] 4:01
2. BB [Mark Knight remix edit] 3:33
3. BB [LP version] 11:08 (this is actually the Original Unfaded mix)
4. BB [Pig & Dan remix] 7:25
5. BB [Mark Knight remix] 8:46
6. BB [Tiefschwarz remix] 9:15

Promotion only not for resale

Cheers.

Re: Beautiful Burnout release date

Don't worry, it seems to be an official promo.
Where can you read "Promotion only not for resale"? Is it printed directly on the cover or is it a sticker? I wonder if this is the final CD single.

TheBang 02-16-2008 03:21 PM

Re: Beautiful Burnout release date

Add it to discogs.

Re: Beautiful Burnout release date

The promotion only label is printed onto the art on the back flap next to the tracklisting...

I would've thought that this was going to be an official release too - but that threw me...

I'll work on a scan of the art to post...

TheBang 02-16-2008 08:06 PM

Re: Beautiful Burnout release date

Yeah, that sounds like the normal promos.

At this point, it seems like this is going to be a vinyl-only release (at retail).

Re: Beautiful Burnout release date

OK, here is yet another eBay BB promo. But this one has a track called the "Biro Edit"?

Anybody know what that is? Is that the original Biro the Leggy thrown on or is it something else.

It's not on Big Screen Matt's list: [COLOR=slategray]http://www.darktrain.org/dirty/forums/showthread.php?t=7421[/COLOR]
and I'm not having much luck finding info anywhere else.

Re: Beautiful Burnout release date

Interesting. If I had to hazard a guess, I'd guess that maybe it's just the Radio Edit, given that there are no other non-remix versions of it on that promo.

i'd hazzard a guess its the radio edit, but until confirmation, i'll just add the title to the list on my thread....

nosajmunson 02-27-2008 08:36 AM

Re: Beautiful Burnout release date

Based on the Item description, I would agree that it is probably the Radio Edit. It would be cool if this is a new version, but I'm not willing to drop $30 to find out when all indications are that it is the Radio Edit.

This is just a USA version of the promo, hence the Chrysalis contacts on the sleeve.

Re: Beautiful Burnout release date

how the fuck do i get the r59 mix from brit itunes

i... need it

TheBang 02-27-2008 10:35 AM

Re: Beautiful Burnout release date

Well, you need to have a credit card with a billing address in the U.K. (or another of the EU countries with an iTunes Store, and then use that respective iTunes Store; R59 is in all the EU iTunes Stores). With that credit card, create a new iTunes account, different from your US account (an account can only be associated with one country).

If you don't have a credit card from that country, then you can use a gift card from that store. Once you've got the gift card code, click the "Redeem" link in that country's iTunes Store. You can then create an account without a credit card by entering the gift card code. The trick is getting the foreign gift card code (you don't need the actual card, just the code) in the first place. There are services on the net that can help with that, or maybe someone in that country on these boards can buy you one.

Lastly, all the new Underworld tracks on iTunes in the UK and EU are all iTunes Plus format. That is, without DRM. So, conceivably, someone in one of those countries could buy it and then lend it to you for a listen.
