having listened to all the mixes now, except the Ame one which i assume has not been promoed yet... (i'd really like to hear that one...;) )

i can safely say its a nice varied set of mixes:

the radio edit is simply the song in it's purest form- short sweet and to the point - suitable for both the clubber and daytimeradio listener, whether it will get much daytime airplay is to be seen....

at 8:57 long, the LP version need not be any longer than the 6:30 it was originally chopped to on pitchfork or where it started out being streamed... the last two minutes are simple noodly ambient noises, nice but don't add anything whatsoever to the track overall - you are not missing anything having only heard the 6 minute version...

the hunteman mix, although showcasing Karl's vocal to better effect is a bit too minimal for my liking...

that said, i prefer the dub which is a bit better, as it sounds deeper and the beats and sounds don't get disrupted by Karl's lyrics... tbh both Hunteman mixes are growing on me with every listen...

the heller remix is actually not what i was expecting and to be honest, and i love PH, is not that good!!! its kinda formulaic and has lots of PH trademark sounds but these appear to be the same sounds he was using about 4 years ago... this mix is nothing like any of his Peggy Sussed mixes which were awesome... shame really because i thought he could have ramped it up on this one... Karl's vocals are clear, but the remix itself is pretty meh... three listens so far have not converted to me to this mix, and this was teh one i was most looking forward to...

i'll leave these to hear when you can - overall i'd score the 5 versions on this CD promo as 7.5/10

Am I the only one who thinks that the LP version is too short as it 'cuts off' at ~4:55 like if somebody had pressed the reset button?

Anyone know who's doing the distributing and promo of new material in the States? Myself and the RPM director at WBNY want to make sure we get
something to play on the air waves. Help get the band get a good CMJ charting.
(as a bit of a side note there are still about 20 STITI stickers plastered around the studio)

I've been listening to this for a while, and I finally picked up on something. There's a sample of a crocodile call hidden in the precussion of the first fourth of the song. I wonder if the song is called Crocodile because of that sample or if the sample was put in because of the title...

They seem to have done a great job at preventing a leak of the album. At this point, one might as well just wait for the physical album. My guess is they'll release the album on Underworldlive.com a few days/weeks before the CD for the impatient ones.

Sorry, the video is total gash in my opinion. Total let down after some of UW's last videos. After seeing the blog of the director i thought it was going to be different views and cuts of the band playing the song. But one camera view is just a bit dull after a while, makes it hard to see what Rick and Pricey are doing. Yes Karl has to be the main focus seeing he is seen as the lead of the group, but the layering effect just gets to confusing and makes me want to switch it off. I just think theres to much going on and it'll piss people off more then anything. For a performance just standing there and pretending to play the song, it should have just seen them to a Top Of The Pops video. I know its a bit harsh, but seeing theres no radio play of the record, a decent video might have got them some publicty. I just think it'll sink without a trace.

Good surprise to discover this video, even if I don't think it is rather enchanting in comparison with the last clips. Maybe too much orientated "arty rock band"...But... I can't spit on a U.W video !.:D

it's not too confusing, it's not confusing enough. you can't have a single static shot while trying to make movement out of everything else, it just makes the light, the dancing, the performance, and all of the effects less interesting and, i don't know the right word... impactful?
i'm utterly disappointed. it may not be as ill advised as the dino3d video, but going cheap hasn't resulted in better product, it just looks really friggin cheap.

Underworld are one of the biggest dance bands ever. When Chemical Brothers, Basement Jaxx and Prodigy came back with there last releases, i knew about it and not from reading about it on the internet. Singles were played on the radio and videos on music channels. Even Massive Attack has the single for there best off given a lot of publicity.

But where has the press been for Crocodile? Seriously, if i wasn't a fan i would not know about the song or album due to extreme lack of press. Possibly i would have heard through Tongs show, but i don't listen! I'm usually at work and the style he plays isn't really my thing.

Possibly leaving JBO/V2 was a bad move and it seems the push to the Japanese market is where there headed for guranteed success. We have no real info on a single, if its on CD, 12",7" if theres any b-sides and what mixes are on. Its frustrating getting info from the web when the main site is not active and full of old interviews and random text.

i thought the video was alright. wasn't anything I'd watch over and over, but it was nice to look at once or twice. i thought certain parts were quite beautiful actually.

there are very very few videos that i would go gaga over these days. and those would have the budget of a summer movie or have been done by Michael Gondry.

I cannot pick up the buzz in the traditional media here (in France there is not really shows speaking abt music), but on Internet, which is THE main medium for the electronic music fan today, at present, Underworld and Daft Punk (for their live cd in november) are at the top of boards.

Born Slippy and Push Upstairs, had a big broadcasting, And for me, this is not their better tracks....... which are not comparable in style pop-rock of Prodigy or Basement' (which is broadcast in supermarkets here...:D)

It is not there that everything takes place now? ...

I like the video. I like the concept, the overlaying, and the bizarre quasi-disco feel to it. I am not a big consumer of music videos these days in general, but this one pleases me.
