Re: underworld spotting II
There's a commercial on Australian TV right now with "Banstyle - Sappys Curry" as the backing music. It's one of those "Dial this number, answer a question and go into the draw to win a ipod/mac mini/blah" ones.
Saw it on channel 10 tonight during The Simpsons. |
Re: underworld spotting II
Track: Born Slippy (instrumental)
Channel: Food Network Show: "The Next Food Network Star" Near the end of an episode where they preview what's going to happen in the coming episode, the unmistakable beats from Born Slippy are played in the background. A little surprising. |
Re: underworld spotting II
replying to the quite old question about vanilla sky, i was watching an interview with tom cruise when that came out and he said that the music that was in the movie was simply the music that was being played around the set during filming. stuff that he and cameron crowe were listening to.
the family guy episode was the best thing ever the first time i saw that. "i know youre only trying to help. i waaant pancakes!" |
Re: underworld spotting II
Only tangentially related, but there is that Family Guy episode during the closing credits where they spoof the baby scene in Trainspotting with Stewie crawling on the ceiling. I guess that's Dark Train, but it's really not.

Re: underworld spotting II
hmmm, this sounds familiar, doesn't it? :D
A few days ago i spotted something dodgy, apparently there is a site that hosts the Pizza for Eggs and Lovely Broken Thing galleries. I won't put up a link here, but the google search 'underworld riverrun project' should find the site. I wonder how we can stop this? |
Re: underworld spotting II
Mmm Skyscraper was used throughout a programme (circa 11m) about...skyscrapers.
Online here, but be warned, it's in Danish ;) |

This one is a little obscure but here in chicago on espn radio 1000, mike and mike in the morning use twist as background music from time to time.
|
Re: underworld spotting II
I just got back from a dance show in which my sister participates.
One of the choreographies featured Little Speaker! Fun to see people dance to Underworld in a structured way :D |
Re: underworld spotting II
Also in Chicago, this eclectic rock station, WXRT 93.1 (best commercial radio station in my opinion) does these flashback shows where they play music from a certain year. They did 1993 recently and the background music for the intro was something from Dubno, but I totally forgot what song it was.
I also saw the live version of Born Slippy form Everything Everything in one of those electronic jukeboxes at a bar the other night. Strange choice. |
Re: underworld spotting II
NBC Dateline news magazine show (I think) - Story about an e-ring in arizona run by a group of bright college students who were stupid enough to tape all their activities. On one of the tapes, there is a shot of a party. shows one roller dancing with glo-sticks to Juanita/Kiteless for almost an entire minute.
Numerous TLC/Discovery shows have underworld music, specifically Pearl's Girl stands out. The them music to the Abrahms Report (MsNbc) sounds eerily like Pearls Girl (but its not) |
Re: underworld spotting II
This is a kind of tenuous connection, but bear with me on this. ;)
Firstly, I have always thought that Peggy Sussed was about a visit to DisneyWorld/Land. The lyrics make sense to me in that context. You may agree, you may think I am out there where the buses don't run... Any road up, last night I saw an ad on TV for DisneyWorld with a little girl dressed up as a princess. And she says "I am a princess", then points to her dog and says "And this is my horse." Hmmmm. :) |

went to a 3 day music camping festival here in Ontario CANADA.
a band named Slowcoaster plays this song...and the singer chants " cats are gathering outside your window " OVER AND OVER AND OVER. wow. |
Very bizzare use of UW music!
Watching Dead Ringers last night on BBC 2 and their was a sketch where Jamie Oliver was cooking food to save the world for people on the west bank. For some reason, you could hear Two Months Off in the background for no apparant reason.
Strange. |

Dutch Dirties can spot u/w in Trainspotting on tv tonight.

Re: underworld spotting II
If Janie's story was tenuous, mine is irrelevant... I had a dream (no kidding) last night and I heard the studio track of the HMH track 1. I have no idea where that came from, I've only heard the song 10 times maybe, but I remember telling everyone around me to *shush* while I gave it my first listen. I've officially had my first Underworld soundtracked dream.

Re: underworld spotting II
only UW spot i can remember was during the Olympics, NBC used "Rez" during one of their athlete profiles. It was either a pole vaulter or a skiier, i think...something high-flying!
Janie, that "I'm a princess and this is my horse" spot is GREAT! In my mind, i imagined "Peggy Sussed" taking place in NYC or somewhere urban, and Mickey walking on the face of the water and making the dirt clean is a reflection of a float in a parade. But your spot makes much more sense! Not by Disney, but in the 1995 version of "A Little Princess", the protagonist declares, "I AM a princess. All girls are". That's nothing about UW but reminds me of the last RiverRun title. Plus, its a line of dialog i like to repeat:p ;) |
UW Spotting vidontknow
A couple weeks ago I was flipping through the channels and stopped on CSI. After a few scenes they start a evidence collecting/testing montage with Trim playing.

Re: underworld spotting II
A friend of mine saw a couple commercials for a show on E! (television) about a woman that speaks to dead people. There are a couple times in the commercial that there is a song that sounds JUST like Luetin. It's not, but the basics are there and it's extremely close.
This is the same friend that found that Born Slippy video on YouTube... :o Edit: The lady is named Lisa Williams and the show is on Lifetime. There's another commercial with a song that is similar to Jumbo, but not as close as the other is to Luetin. |
Re: underworld spotting II
I work at Bloomingdale's here in Chicago and they have some Underworld cycled into the soundtrack playing. It's a great time dancing behind the counter and singing to myself. I've only heard Two Months Off, Cowgirl and Jumbo, but I only work a few days a week because of school, so they may play more that I just haven't caught yet.

Re: underworld spotting II
On the new Fellowship of the Ring 2 disc DVD. The second disc is a documentary about the making of the movie. At 26:00 - 26:11 when they are showing some of the decals on the swords, you can hear Push Upstairs playing in the background (at least I think it is, can some please verify?)

Re: underworld spotting II
saw Human Traffic for the first time this weekend, when i saw Pete Tong had been in charge of the music selction for the movie, i thought: then there has to be some Underworld in it :D and yessssss Kittens :D (just a short part though :o)
Also here and there are tiny bits of sounds that i wondered about if they were also by UW. Ow and s few weeks ago i noticed a big company that provides television and internet connection used TMO in their commercial. And not a short part ftm. |
Re: underworld spotting II
How about 2 spottys?
The first has been a while, during the pre-game show for the super-bowl. A piece about Hines Ward and Korea, they played Ess Gee.... The second - this evening a show called justice talking on npr, they played a few chords from Tongue in between segments. yay. |
Re: underworld spotting II
