Re: eBay:mother earth/the hump (ended)

Well, OK, so I recently decided that my Underworld collection needed expanding, and so I started considered obtaining releases that I hadn't previously considered, including this one. So, I was watching prices on auctions and other marketplaces for a couple months and determined that £100 was about the current going rate for a good copy.

A week ago, I happened on a closed eBay UK auction that no one had bid on. The guy had related the history of the record in the auction description. Basically, the seller worked in a record store in the 90's, and Rick had come by selling them, asking that the stores "sell them to the big DJ's". The guy bought 5 copies for himself, one to listen to, and 4 to go into storage. He sold off 2 of them a few years ago, but now he's hard up for money, so he decided to sell this mint, unplayed copy.

The auction had closed with no bids at £100. I sent him a message and worked out a private sale for £110. He mentioned that he was reluctant to sell his last unplayed copy, but was considering it because he needed the money. I knew ultradave had been looking to purchase a copy, because we had been bidding against each other on some recent stuff, so I referred him to the seller. ultradave offered a premium over what I had paid, and the guy relented.

My copy arrived today, and I'm really pleased with it. It's really is gorgeous. Absolutely pristine surfaces. ultradave is going to love his copy when it arrives.

Would you be willing to do a clean and loud vinyl transfer? My mp3s are 128s and not the best sound.

Yeah. Sad but true.

I recently visited this site where all the hard-to-find remixes and longer versions, etc previously only available on long out-of-print releases were available in pristine 320 kbps. You had to pay a buck per track into this paypal account and ALL the proceeds went to a charity of UW's choosing....

... and then I woke up.

Re: eBay:mother earth/the hump (ended)

It was me who was offering Mother Earth 12" to Ultradave and the Bang.
I mentioned it over here some time ago and they both sent me private messages asking about it. After there lucky break, i still have my copy and before i try to sell it on Ebay or Discogs i'm posting here my intentions.

My price still is about 150 Euros, this includes shipping to anywhere in the World with traceable code, if you'd like insure that will cost about 25 euros more. That's about 125 GBP. Bear in mind that 150 Euros was the amount i have paid for it some years ago. Of course my copy isn't mint but it was very well kept and is in excelent condition. It was played very few times by me.

About people asking for quality transfers from the vinyl, i think some years ago, no one dared to ask about that over here right? ;-)

That translates to about $205USD. That isn't a bad price. There are 3 now listed at Discogs, however the cheapest in similar condition is going for about $187GBP shipped, that's just under $300USD... now that's just too much... the other 2 are listed over $300USD shipped

The £175.00 copy on Discogs is actually not available. The seller sold that one for £125.00 on eBay last month, but hasn't removed the Discogs listing.

Re: eBay:mother earth/the hump (ended)

:D:D Happy Day :D:D

In anticipation I opened a package shipped from overseas in a box covered in brown tape. Inside the box was bubble wrap and plastic bags. Inbetween was a brown eco-friendly padded envelope which contained, yet another envelope made of cardboard. Now what was inside all of this was a mint copy of the Mother Earth 12".

I had to explain to my co-workers who have no idea who underworld are, what it was that I was excited about as I held up this nice shiny black plastic disc.

Unfortunately right now the Numark PT-100 portable record player I have is hardly worthy of this 12" - so it will remain in an unplayed state until I can find worthy equipment. I know there are several replacement needles for this player, BUT, is it worth it to upgrade the needle or invest in a nicer record player?

i have this at 320kbps if anyone's interested

vinyl is long gone though... nice find for the MINT copies - reckon they are worth £200 really - unplayed super rare - so you have a bargain
