That sounds optimistic.
If they?re dragging two singles over this many months they?ll take as long for the next and then wait even longer before an album announcement. Wouldn?t be surprised if it took us to April.

There's a gap between the current tour from start of december 23 to the middle of march 24.maybe just a big enough gap to drop a long player?

may I ask where folks are seeing this? musk has borked twitter so I don't go near it, and in general I have no SM accounts. TBH I tend to reply on emails from the band and news here...

They said Drift Series 2 would probably be different to series 1. Maybe this is it. Tracks spewed out online at random intervals with no obvious rhyme or reason. In two years they'll do a bit 6CD boxset out of the blue.

I think it?ll be more of a traditional album , especially with the colour red having a 12? and merch already released.

Re: Denver Luna live 2023 / Next Song Drop ?

I don't think Drift 2 will ever happen. They moved on. That was then.

Sort of agreed. they found a way to break from the album format, but because they're following the release cycle as if an album is coming, maybe their recent work suited that format instead. Maybe they just kept the techniques they developed and brought the ethos to whatever comes next. Maybe after this album release they'll revisit Drift.

It'd be kind of weird if "Series 1" was the only series tbh.

I like the colors of these shirts but am I really wearing something that says "kiss the animal"? I just don't know.

The digital single has already dropped in countries where it's tomorrow. It'll become available in your country as it hits midnight.

https://music.apple.com/au/album/den...gle/1709230456

2 tracks, the full Denver Luna at 8:01, and the previous acapella.

Been on Apple Music for some hours now, which suits me just fine before bed. On the second listen now, and I am happy bollock.

Such an interesting structure. It also sounds like it feeds in from the track before it, solidifies that we’re looking at a traditional album release soon imo

potatobroth 10-18-2023 06:10 AM

Re: Denver Luna live 2023 / Next Song Drop ?

on my second proper listen now. anyone else get a weird feeling with the freeform lyrics not matching up to beats (mostly in the beginning)?

love the second buildup. and the almost-acapella part fits so well in the track.

edit: i love it in case that wasnt clear. its gonna be on nonstop today.

first half actually reminds me of "Conchord"! but oooooh wow the second half goes way beyond that

So it's really just a single now. Disappointed. I thought there will be finally album announcement, but now who knows if there will an album at all.

the build from ~3min until ~5min is fucking owning my speakers. holy crap. and i LOVE how it trails off into the pseudo-acapella portion.

loving.

The Amsterdam gigs will take place before the forthcoming album. It is written on the pages that announce the Gashouder gigs. https://gashouder.nl/events/underworld/

'Tube hole' was the one that really stood out to me.

It kind of fits, though, this actually reminds me more of '90s Underworld than anything they've released since. It must be the most lyrics Karl's written for a song in years.

The bit where it goes into the a capella around five minutes gave me goosebumps. I was pretty nonplussed by And the Colour Red, but this has me really hyped for whatever is coming up.

this song and "and the color red" remind me of 90s underworld. :)

that second full build up... ~4:25... my god. that is so damn good. wish that went a bit longer but I got mega 90s live-show vibes from it.

Fantastic track. Loaded with energy, dynamics, harmonics. Really exciting listen to the studio track with headphones after hearing the live vids and the a capella.

First listen was through portable speakers and earphones, then proper headphones. hyped to hear it for the first time through speakers right now though.

i saw someone say its as if UW asked AI to create lyrics to an UW song. found all the usual suspects. snakes. tube hole, moon in water, etc. :D

ChatGPT disagrees:
(Verse 1)
In the labyrinth of city streets, where shadows trace the pulse of beats,
Neon flickers in the rain, reflections of a transient refrain.

(Pre-Chorus)
Lost in the cadence of the crowd, where the silence is so loud,
Concrete whispers in my mind, a symphony of thoughts I find.

(Chorus)
Beneath the surface, where the echoes hide,
In the spaces between the rhythm and the tide,
Kaleidoscope of memories, a cityscape inside,
In the heart's Underworld, where emotions coincide.

(Verse 2)
Subway stations, transient stations, life's vibrations in constant fluctuations,
A carousel of faces, each with a story to tell,
In the dance of existence, where every step is a farewell.

(Pre-Chorus)
Voices in the static, echoes in the hum,
In the heartbeat of the city, where the lost souls drum,
A rhythm of yearning, a syncopated sum,
In the depths of the Underworld, where the whispers become.

(Chorus)
Beneath the surface, where the echoes hide,
In the spaces between the rhythm and the tide,
Kaleidoscope of memories, a cityscape inside,
In the heart's Underworld, where emotions coincide.

(Bridge)
Concrete canyons, where dreams collide,
In the undercurrents, where emotions bide,
A carousel of colors in the night,
In the pulse of the city, where the spirits alight.

(Instrumental Break)

(Verse 3)
Through the haze of neon dreams, where reality and illusion seams,
A journey in the twilight, where time redeems,
In the Underworld's embrace, where imagination schemes.

(Chorus)
Beneath the surface, where the echoes hide,
In the spaces between the rhythm and the tide,
Kaleidoscope of memories, a cityscape inside,
In the heart's Underworld, where emotions coincide.

(Outro)
As the night dissolves in the morning light,
In the Underworld's grip, we take flight,
In the silence and the chaos, we find insight,
In the poetry of the city, where the soul ignites.

Well, I guess Karl's job is in no danger anytime soon then.

Edit: It looks like ChatGPT wrote lyrics about the Underworld, rather than lyrics in the style of the band Underworld.

purlieu 10-23-2023 05:09 AM

Re: Denver Luna single release - October 18, 2023

I specified lyrics reminiscent of Underworld vocalist Karl Hyde. My first go was in the style of Underworld, which it took as "electronic dance music" and wrote a song about going clubbing.

that was my first impression but thats what I said when Listen to Their No and Custard Speedtalk came out too. this tune has much more of a classic UW feel though, gives me the same feelings I got discovering their stuff as a teenager

There's a new version of the single released yesterday. It includes an (radio) edit, but not the instrumental.

Fun tidbit: Denver Luna made it in the top 50 songs of another forum I (also barely) post on. The list is rolled out 10 at a time via podcast style audio file, and the people who did not vote for it or even heard of it until now are all kinds of pretzeled up with this vocalist who will not shut up. I think it came in at #18

It's fun seeing how Underworld's "place" in the bigger dialogue changes over time. A lot more people are a stronger mix of impressed and baffled.

TheBang 12-15-2023 02:04 PM

Re: Denver Luna single release - October 18, 2023

What kind of top 50 songs list is this? Is it an electronica list? Is that why they’re flummoxed at the vocalist?
