i know fan boys / girls will be the main audience for this, but there are a serious lot more UW fans out there than frequent this forum, who probably do NOT have anywhere near as much stuff as the 1% in here do... every uw gig sells out, THOSE fan boys / girls may be the target audience...

i suspect that there may have been licencing issues over Moaner, as it was released via Warner for the B&R movie, and only the album version is available... :(

Remastered - I understand that this whole set has been remastered, as far as i remember the Italian KOS remixes were poor quality before...so here's hoping they sound better here. i hope they remastered the remixes too.



I think if we're looking at the reasons for this release. It is a complete 'update' of what was released at the time of BF, plus all of Ricks' back room cuts - I believe anything that was a decent full track would have been included on disc 2.

And then most of the Remixes that came with it or to promote it (3 PU 12" promos were issued FFS!). They commissioned their own music to be remixed by some pretty decent producers at the time... Heck, Underworld were themselves remixing people to bits in the 90's - UW are dance music and this was the album that they pimped out.

Do we merit two discs of remixes...? well yes as they are part of what made this album a success, like it or not,

and no - but no only because there is demand for live versions in its place (we may well get another live album - but tbh - UW did do a deal to release a load of live albums a while back, and we also had EE)

Live albums are real fan boy bounty. which is why UW have never had any issue with live recordings being shared - more live on disc? defeats the object of seeing them yourself, imo.


With STITI and Dubno, there were much less remixes. Don't hate the package - it is what it is. fan boys don't have to buy it... and probably won't but i'm sure UW are not gonna go broke.

annnd no one seems to bemoan the fact we're getting a re-issue of an album less than 20 years old, which will make either the original purchase of BF redundant (as the sound quality will be better) - are you happy that the cost of the old album isn't being refunded ;)

everyone wants to hear disc 2 (and perhaps a couple of the unreleased remixes), and in order to get that you're gonna have to buy the lot... harsh, but i've seen worse repackage deals for one or two new tracks... and some crappy sleeve notes...

aww people, shut up.

i was discussing this with Alice in twitter the other day and I think the other tracks (esp. the web tracks) are not in this comp because those might be lost or because they wanted to commit the highest quality sounding tracks to remaster. blue mountain jam? that thing sounds like a realmedia track. if you don't have a high quality recording of that, why bother?

besides, this project has been sitting in abbey road since last year... if they don't release it now, then when? it does look rushed, i think it needs a 5th cd, but if there's no hi res material, why? do you guys remember the clipping in Big Meat Show? do you want more of that? cut the crap.

my only complain is that the singles box isn't there in its entirety.

Na, i'm not rushing to buy it, and I'm not buying the fanboy demands to love it. It don't excite me and that's how it is.

Its great to see what I assume is Bruce Lee (Dobropet) and Please Help Me But where are King Of Snake (Barking Mix) and King Of Snake (Rick's Bungalow Remix) (as well as Moaner (Relentless Legs Mix))

If disk 2 has great stuff, like King of Snake (early demo) all clean and crisp then I might pick it up, but I'm not dropping £55 incase its gold, I'm waiting to see,

I already have all the Beaucoup UK singles in my collection, will definitely check out disc 2 and those Italian KoS remixes, but not sure I'll be buying the Box set. I honestly think this will be the last album to get the 4CD box treatment too.

I agree that an Everything Everything deluxe edition might be why there's no live material this time around - three concerts on CD and an expanded version of the original DVD? - and I hope it's the case (the lack of Cowgirl remixes on both this and the Dubno box could potentially suggest so too). Frankly I'd love to see AHDO and OWB get the super-deluxe treatment too, as I think both albums are incredibly unfairly overlooked.

KOS (Barking Mix) is one of my favourite Underworld tracks. The charming absurdity of it is right up my street.

I'd love an expanded Everything, Everything with the full show. I remember the DVD had two bonus songs.

but what I would REALLY love is all of the underworldlive.com 2005-2006 stuff... Pizza For Eggs, Lovely Broken Thing, and I'm A Big Sister, And I'm A Girl, And I'm A Princess And This Is My Horse as separate tracks with all of remixes and additional material backed with the Live In Tokyo 25th November 2005 ‎ release. I feel these are its own thing and not a part of Oblivion With Bells.

an Oblivion With Bells set could be awesome with a disc or two Best Of live track selection from the live albums they put out during this period.

I find it hilarious that the deluxe edition of BF isn't even out yet, and we're already getting excited about the possibility of a new version of EE

...having said that - it would be great to have a 'beefed up' version of EE. It's been a long while since I listened to it, but from what I recall - it didn't have any improvs

and yes - there were a few bonus songs on the dvd; 'Kittens' and 'Rowla' on the main section of the disc, then a live version of 'Dark Train' as well.

...then there was all the dvd-rom content too.

but I think the BIGGEST oversight, would be if R+K didn't re-release the web-only content in higher resolution. I don't need a cd, a download would even be nice. But seriously it's insane that "King of Snake [Spoken Word Version]" is only available as a 128 kbps mp3!!!

Looking forward to this. Fully remastered singles, album, and a bunch of early versions? Yes, please!

I wonder about a remastered EE. Part of what makes EE what it is is how dang LOUD the whole thing is. Really makes it feel like you are front and center (to steal from the back of the box). I can't imagine that this would give much space in the mix, really, for remastering. A higher dynamic range that would reveal more details is gonna lower the average volume and negatively impact the feel of it. I also can't imagine the source material is THAT much better than the bootlegs we got of say, Fuji 99, but that Rick was able to work some serious magic (and I understand it took him a few tries to get it right) to give it that live feel. Has mastering progressed THAT much since 2000 to pull more info out of mediocre sources?

That said, I'd love a reissued boxset for additional live material and another 60 page booklet about the live shows and the road leading up to EE. Maybe discuss if the Euro Club Gig really was supposed to be a live release? Talk about experimenting with the fairly new 5.1 masterings? This is a super longshot, but I'd love to also read a retrospective about Emerson's departure. It happened during the runup to EE, if I'm not mistaken, and both he and the band are on good terms now. It would certainly make for an interesting recap of a potentially major moment.

Am I remembering correctly that Darren, Rick and Karl were each working on their own demos and bringing them to the Beaucoup Fish sections? If that's accurate, it'd be great to hear Darren's demos. Of course I'm still holding on to the slim chance that something from Underworld / U2 is included.

I bet a remastered 'Please Help Me' is going to sound great. Also happy to see the remixes will be remastered, too.

I'm looking forward to this release since it was my first day one Underworld purchase. And this was the first tour I got to see the band live.

I think the assumption is that UW have recordings or demos sitting in the archive somewhere. Given UW's working methods and their reputation for constant in-studio jamming, I think it's reasonable to assume there's stuff sitting around that we haven't heard yet. Plus I believe R&K have implied a number of times that there's a lot of stuff behind the curtain. Of course none of us know exactly how true that is - I remember being disappointed with the second disc of Barking since I kinda assumed there were more-or-less 'complete' versions of the originals floating around, and it turns out there probably wasn't.

To be fair, with the Barking disc, they are described as pieces in various states of completion. I'm sure there are more 'complete' versions in their archives, but I think they wanted to share it as a snapshot of various different works in progress rather than simply 'Barking without the guest producers'.

There's definitely mixed feelings running rampant on this release. Do I have most if not all of the remixes being released? Yes, but I will still be purchasing this physical release since I already have the dubno and STITI super deluxe versions...

I am happy to see the KoS Italian remixes on this release and as stated by BSS, hopefully these will have been given a proper remaster.

BF was indeed released in an era of the remix and having their tracks remixed likely equaled to the amount of remixes UW did themselves of either their own tracks or other artists tracks. And although I have most if not all of these, it will be nice to have remastered versions. Some of the remixes of the era did have bad fades, so hopefully some of this will be corrected.

I have mixed feelings about this release, but the truth of the matter is, not everyone can be pleased with a remaster and to get 4CD's in a box set is much better than no remaster at all.

As for 5 points (likely one of the most talked about tracks on this forum - not officially titled), I thought this was played out live during the AHDO era? Anyone know when this track was first being played? I think I have 2 live shows, but that was during the AHDO tour... the one I missed. I could have seen them here at the Mayan in Downtown Los Angeles!!! I'm feeling anger now...

It was played twice, and only during the early 'Beaucoup Fish Tour' as far as I'm aware:

Hugo D Night in Rotterdam on 10-31-1998

and then at the Mayan Theater, also in '98

...although... there is a slim chance that it could be featured on AHDO... As, the last time I played my bootleg copy (Hugo D Night) - she was convinced it had the same melody as "Two Months Off" - just played at a different tempo

Finally! I've wondered for years if there was a studio track with the synth line in Ramajama since I heard Rick's Bungalow Mix of KOS and was disappointed as it wasn't quite what they play live! Wasn't sure if I was going to bother buying the remaster but definitely will now!

Dude, you live in Cali? Order from ImportCDs, they are based in Cali. I found them through Amazon, they have a substore on there and eBay. I dug around and found their direct site and prices are cheaper than they sell on Amazon and eBay. I've bought from ImportCDs many times. They are great and usually have pretty damn good prices. It's only $45 on their site. I got a couple of the Smashing Pumpkins reissue boxsets from them for a nice price too.

I'm really strugging here... I really want the 24 bit digital release, which is going to be pretty much the same price as the boxset if I order from ImportCDs. I don't know what to do!!! Get the 24 bit digital, but no pretty boxset or get the pretty boxset, but only standard CD quality. Ugh, so divided.

Speaking of 24 bit, Dubnobasswithmyheadman album got a 24 bit release but not the Second Toughest In The Infants release at all. Now this one has the entire set in 24 bit. Man, I wish there was a 24 bit STITI... wish the entire sets had 24 bit releases because the 24 bit Dubnobasswithmyheadman sounds gorgeous.

After the dubno box set, I pretty much came to the conclusion that for music releases, it's cheaper to buy elsewhere, especially for US people. The shipping costs have become huge. Even buying from Amazon UK is usually better too, because shipping to the US is cheap, and we don't have to pay the VAT, so it lowers the price.

If you can wait a year or so, both of the other box sets were eventually available for $30-40, and this one probably will be too.

ok, after going over the times.

just another minor gripe :
discs 3 and 4 are both about 65 minutes long

the first 2 discs are pretty full at 74 minutes...

i realized that 2/3 king of snake italian mixes are on there, they left
off the dino lenny mix...

i'm sure they could have squeezed in a few more mixes on both
those disks to fill them up also.

24-bit of STITI would be nice. I was hoping for it. It really doesn't make sense to me since they released dubno in 24-bit, which indeed sounds amazing. They released barbara, barbara... in 24-bit too... now I can imagine OWB in 24-bit :eek::eek::eek:
