Re: Broken Lovely Thing : A message from Rick and Karl
Two listens and loving it mostly so far... 'JAL To Tokyo' is IMMENSE though - NEEDS a limited print on 12" though ;)
So far the excitement has come from the photography more than anything - I walk through several of these subways on my way to and from work every day and a lot of these shots were taken literally across the road from my flat, so why haven't I bumped into Karl out with his camera so far? ;) |
Re: Broken Lovely Thing : A message from Rick and Karl
Dude...I had a simialr problem. The file doesn't show up on my computer after it looked like it was downloading. At the end of what looked to be the download, the file said corrupted and I can't find it anywhere. My email is jmdrums@hotmail.com

It is a Broken Lovely Thing - LOL - :D
Does not work for my address information - any thoughts on how/why would be appreciated, after you've eaten well, slept in your bed, and bathed of course. Can't wait, thanks all this is a great direction! |

Re: Broken Lovely Thing : A message from Rick and Karl
ok seems some people have having problems on IE and downloads. this is a
bug i never ran into (running XP here). have to get my hands on a copy of windows2000 tomorrow and give it a test run... i would recommend downloading using Firefox as a quick workaround. and will be on this soon as i can... thanks for spotting this bug- and thanks microsoft for such a great browser :P |
Re: Broken Lovely Thing : A message from Rick and Karl
Im at a mates house so i cant download to home till tomorrow! Man its sounding good and promising!
|
Re: Broken Lovely Thing : A message from Rick and Karl
I just bought it (I think) and it did the whole card checking process and then forwarded me right back to the front page without an error message or download link or anything. How do I know if it's actually processed or not? Anyone else having problems like this?
|
Re: Broken Lovely Thing : A message from Rick and Karl
Thanks to everyone involved for this - it's a lovely release. Here's some quick comments:
Ordering process: Went ok, but could be smoother. Had to use a 2nd credit card, after the first one was declined for some reason (it normally works fine for web purchases). PayPal would be a nice option. Had to download about three times because it kept on stopping half way. I guess this could be down to the server load, and it got there in the end. The download link appeared about 8 times - I understand this will be fixed soon. Package: Really nice to have artwork and bonus photos. Makes it something extra special that retail albums don't have. MP3 at 192Kbps makes me a bit unhappy. Would have expected 320Kbps VBR, and would have liked a lossless version as an option (FLAC/WAV). Come on R&K... lossy audio is SO 90's. Also, it would have been good to know it was only 192Kbps before downloading. A single MP3 is ok, but a cue sheet would have been useful for burning. Music: Nice selection on tracks. No killer tracks ('Moaner' / 'Pearls Girl' quality), but hopefully those will be waiting for the next album. I know the point of this release is to make something slightly different, anyway, so for that I'm grateful. The first part is very nice indeed. Overall: Top release, and keep it coming :) |
Re: Broken Lovely Thing : A message from Rick and Karl
Now it's a Working_Lovely_Thing
And it sounds great - thanks |
Re: Broken Lovely Thing : A message from Rick and Karl
I had to try my CC twice as well, but it worked fine the second time around... just like the download ;)
JAL to Tokyo sounds sooo much better in good quality... - Matthew |
Re: Broken Lovely Thing : A message from Rick and Karl
UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
is at the very bottom of the country pick list for the order form. Under Z. I dont know if this is a practical joke or what. |
Re: Broken Lovely Thing : A message from Rick and Karl
I really like this. Im a 3 minutes into the record and i already like it. Im so happy with how everything is going. Finally, NEW MUSIC!!!!!! :)
the built in webpage gallery is also very awesome. thanks! great idea! |

Mil, try going to the Downloads section of the site. you should see it listed in there ready for you to get. |
Re: Broken Lovely Thing : A message from Rick and Karl
1. When you add the audio to iTunes, it says "River Run Project"
2. Who gives a damn that the U.S. is listed at the bottom? Good god, stop watching fox news. |

USA was probably supposed to be listed there as well and then someone fucked it up and placed it at the bottom. Or they did it deliberately. http://www.dirty.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif |
Re: Broken Lovely Thing : A message from Rick and Karl
OK i think I have a few dumb questions, but could someone please help,
or better yet: please help me :D So I am trying to order, but since i live in US of A. Could someone please help me with the credit card address ordering. we don't have districts... Thank you in advance!!! |
Re: Broken Lovely Thing : A message from Rick and Karl
for those in the USA, this worked for me:
house number = the number on your house/apartment house name = empty street = the name of your street district = empty county = the state in which you live post code = zip code |
Re: Broken Lovely Thing : A message from Rick and Karl
I didn't have to worry about state or county when I paid for it. But otherwise, I needed to go through it a few times before it accepted that I, indeed, existed. :D

just finished listing to lovely broken thing, love the idea of releasing music in this way, looking forward to hearing some of the other stuff:) |
Re: Broken Lovely Thing : A message from Rick and Karl
I really, really like Billy Goat. I'm also, of course, digging Lenne Penne and Electronic... the other stuff though is just ok... but this is great!
Thanks guys!!! |
Re: Broken Lovely Thing : A message from Rick and Karl
Billy Goat is really good. I love it and JAL to Tokyo the most.
This made my day. Thanks R&K and everyone involved :) Love it! |
Re: Broken Lovely Thing : A message from Rick and Karl
jeesh...i go away for 2 days, and i come back to this fabulous news.
and, like another person on here, i ALSO dont have a credit card. ARGH shakes fist. |

I think all you need is to fill in the same billing address as your credit card. I don't think it really matters what goes in what proper blank space, as long as all the numbers and letters match in the end. |
Re: Broken Lovely Thing : A message from Rick and Karl
happy to finally be hearing new material after reading this thread constantly today at work.
when is the next release coming? |
Re: Broken Lovely Thing : A message from Rick and Karl
so are these releases going to be available for a long time/indefinately/for a limited time only? will they ever see the light of day on a cd or something?
thanks!! |
Re: Broken Lovely Thing : A message from Rick and Karl
augh, finally!
i read it this morning, and then spent the rest of the day thinking about when i was going to be able to get it. which was sorta surprising... i mean, i liked the new previews from live shows, but i wasn't quite feeling the spark yet, so i thought i might not be as fanatical, but 12 minutes into it and god do i love this beyond anything else right now. it feels good. |
Re: Broken Lovely Thing : A message from Rick and Karl
Yes...this is very nice :)
That it contains the last bit of Lonely Bollock from the Dirtyradio show...I loved the ending of that tune, very nice to get an actual version of it. Can't wait to keep this on repeat for my drive back home Friday... I think tomorrow I'm going to cue all these tracks up so I can split them up...makes it easier to listen to them seperately. It's late here in THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA so I'll do it tomorrow and post where I split everything... P.S. JAL to Tokyo is :o |
Re: Broken Lovely Thing : A message from Rick and Karl
ant, will there be any support for the ability to resume downloads (via browser or getright, etc) in the future? My download died at 37mb so I'm off for attempt #2 overnight. Damn dial-up sucks. :(
|
Re: Broken Lovely Thing : A message from Rick and Karl
The second bit ("billy goat") sounds destined for a DFA remix.
I'm using IE 6.0.2800.1106 on Windows 98 4.10.98 and the download worked fine. |
Re: Broken Lovely Thing : A message from Rick and Karl
Anyone worked out a cue sheet for this yet?'
Not sure if this is an okay question seeing as how R&K noted that they sort of wanted it to be one listening experience, but I'd really like to cut these into tracks... What a great package overall. UW does it again. :D |
Re: Broken Lovely Thing : A message from Rick and Karl
someone please help me!
no credit card! i'll send cash/cheque/whatever! come on! |
Re: Broken Lovely Thing : A message from Rick and Karl
doesn't REALLY seem like they've trod any new ground. seems like b-sides from the AHDO era.
i like it though. looking forward to upcoming work. |
Re: Broken Lovely Thing : A message from Rick and Karl
GOT IT!:)
Jal to Tokyo (aka Electronic Part 1) sounds a fucking shitload better on this recording....the echoed background noises come to life! more on it as I listen but so far so good. |
Re: Broken Lovely Thing : A message from Rick and Karl
Really hoping for a clean sounding version of Biro The Leggy at some point here fellas...
