Re: TONIGHT...
really? lots of collaborations... ?? Bleh... i have a feeling this is gonna be the least underworld album yet.. not happy.. but ill hold my judgement till i hear the rest..
In the meantime id love a download of "You Do Scribble" and not this .. |
Re: TONIGHT...
INSANEEEEEE!!!
i freaking loved the track (with the exception of the stabs on the breakdown) BUT WHAT THE HELL it's fun, energetic and i love how the lyrics have been layered around. i'm gonna listen again and again until the download comes up ;) |
Re: TONIGHT...
Weird one!
Thought it was a bit cheesy at first, then when it drops out and the bit with just Karl singing sounded great. I enjoyed it and can see a few more listens making me like it more! Very commercial sounding too! |

Re: TONIGHT...
more like You Do Scribble with melody and lyrics
|
Re: TONIGHT...
Cant hear it at work but judging by these descriptions this sounds really damn cool
|
Re: TONIGHT...
Well, from what we've heard of Diamond Jigsaw, Between Stars and now Scribble, there's a definite lurch toward the mainstream happening.
I like Scribble. Want to hear it again. |
Re: TONIGHT...
Also how can you guys say lots of collaborations = bad?
The only UW collabs I can think of are "Downpipe" (freakin excellent) and "Boy, Boy, Boy" (pretty good). They aren't exactly the Chemical Bros., they have a vocalist. |
Re: TONIGHT...
I loved those pounding d&b-sounds, can't wait till 9PM to download it!
|
Re: TONIGHT...
i ripped the stream, waiting for the file to be active on UWLive
|
Re: TONIGHT...
file removed

i still haven't heard scribble yet. some of the reactions are scaring me a bit. YDS is totes my faves so i hope i'm not disappointed. |
Re: TONIGHT...
Did Darren Price contribute to the album at all?
|

i need a few listens before i decide what i think, but my first impression is that it doesn't sound terribly UW, does it? it's a lovely little breathless rush but it's not the YDS i know and love and desperately want a clean recording of. |
Re: TONIGHT...
in that case it would be cool if we got a Scribble EP or something with YDS on it, sorta like the Pearl's Girl one eh?
|
Re: TONIGHT...
I missed out! I can't wait half an hour to hear it! Aagh!
But new Underworld! New album this summer! This is the best news I've heard since Further! |
Re: TONIGHT...

...feels like im listening to a remix of LaRoux or some other generic cringe that is over produced and lacks much personality... I want to hear it again... loud and with no distractions.. Everything sounds too fast with Zane Lowe.. But the biggest loser here is You Do Scribble... i thought what they were performing over the last few years was an animal tune... and i would give my left nut for that to be officially released and not Scribble... at least it hasnt the same name. |
Re: TONIGHT...
Missed it on the Radio, me wants!

Can't seem to play it loud enough :) Interesting to hear how this track evolved from the various gigs I've been at over the last year or so. Anyone else thinks the vocals sound similar to BT's latest album? |
Re: TONIGHT...
It's available now on UWlive.com
|
Re: TONIGHT...
It's... meh. I don't know. I came in really excited and it was just... oh, I don't know. It's just a drum loop, some synths, and Karl going "And it's okayyyyy...". It gets a bit interesting when he starts singing other lyrics but then goes right back to the "chorus". Why couldn't they just have done a studio version of YDS? It was mammoth! It was practically perfect! This is just a really weak Drum & Bass song!
|
Re: TONIGHT...
Got it now via UWLive, fucking amazing. Loving it in on first listen.

I'm not mourning the "loss" of the old YDS, mind. That version exists perfectly on the Electraglide disc, so I'm not looking for the same old thing. Just feels a bit like the air got let out of my balloon (or giant stage inflatable). Still psyched for new album! |
Re: TONIGHT...
What the fuck was that
|
Re: TONIGHT...
bring back the techno...not this weird attempt at pop/trance
oh well, although i am pretty disappointed with this radio edit, i'm still very much looking forward to the full album |
Re: TONIGHT...
ha..ha..ha.. what a teaser!! :D
Lovely! |
Re: TONIGHT...
The thing is, people would have complained it was a clone of an old release from five years ago, but people will complain of the radical change like this which is for the good imo.
|
Re: TONIGHT...
Meh - it's alright. Though I've only listened to it once. So whatever - I'll rinse through this more with repeats.
I want to hear the full version, because I rarely listen to radio edits of Underworld songs. (Except "Two Months Off" - that was the first UW song I was exposed to, the radio edit in the music video - heehee) |
Re: TONIGHT...
I for one wouldn't have minded if it was just a studio version of YDS! But I'll admit that it wasn't exactly a "butchering" of the song - it's just that it has so little to do with it and it doesn't sound like a very good first single to me.
|
Re: TONIGHT...
Fair do's people might be slagging it after hearing its for five years, but if you'd heard it fresh, opinion may change.
|
Re: TONIGHT...
Yes, give me a studio version of YDS please, a very solid and I would even say innovative piece of music (although certainly not new). The other new material we have heard is also pretty enjoyable stuff.
Scribble (radio edit) = garbage (imo) |
Scribble - New Single
See the title
|
Re: TONIGHT...
It's a grower. It's better than Crocodile, that's for sure.
The long version will no doubt be much better. It's just a bit more "up" than classic Underworld. More along the lines of what we're hearing with with Bamboo, Diamond Jigsaw and Between Stars. It's a departure from Cowgirl, Rez, Juanita and all that, which is a shame, but it's also at least exciting and fresh and fun. |
Re: Scribble
...you give me everything I need :)
|
Re: TONIGHT...
next single will have d. ramerez and the other guy and will appease folks wanting full on trance anthems
|
Re: TONIGHT...
Hmm....not what I was expecting, but I think I would prefer a cleaned up version of YDS at this point. Maybe a few more listens, but I'm just sort of meh presently.
|
Re: TONIGHT...
I've listened to it a few more times now.
I really hate modern dnb so the whole rhythm section is grating to my ears. I just found a live version of YDS (which I hadn't heard before) and it's got a dnb style but actually sounds interesting. I hate High Contrast. It's catchy though, isn't it? |
Re: TONIGHT...
Well, for what its worth, I like it. At first I thought, hmmm, this is very commercial. But I have listened to it a few times now and think its very uplifting, I love the vocals and its growing on me!!! The beat is not 'classic' underworld, but it has many underword-type-bits.
I don't subscribe to a 'this is commercial so the album is going to be full of commercial tunes' or 'this is a collaboration so every track on the album is going to be a collaberation and wont sound like underworld' blah blah blah. Lets just wait and see - I cant wait. Anyway, wonder if there will be a new track played on Tongs show at the weekend? Zane Lowe said he would be playing the first single from the album and that it was a slower bpm. I know the website says Tong will be playing the full version, but it sounds like there may be another track too? Wooohoooooo. A new record :) |
Re: TONIGHT...
So this isn't the first single? Hmm... Between Stars, perhaps?
|
