I for one love You Do Scribble where I know Numberonesuperfan Matt doesn't. I also detest Thing In A Book from the old days which a lot of people like.

I agree, need the debate

Moon In Water was in a radio broadcast... not sure which one.. but if you check the tracklistings on the UWlive broadcast page you should see it in there..

Yer Darc was changed to Parc ad Darc in Japanese where it has only been released means something rude apparantly.

Moon In Water is a test tracks featuring floaty synths and computer vocals as part of UW using a certain type of software. It's ok but nothing that will make you dump your fav track in order for it.

OK, Thanks. I hope that they include phonestrap 4 in new album.

No, that was a retarded "debate".

Thanks for posting this. It's great!

Any chance you can edit a version that's a bit longer in the end. It seems like it gets cut off rather abruptly.

That was the end of it. It was a rather abrupt transition.

Re: Diamond Jigsaw

I like the melody and the beat but the instruments need fine tuning. Sound a bit raw. I look forward to the finished product but its not ready for release yet.

yeah, kind of reminds me of 1984 by Van Halen. Don't know why.

Re: Diamond Jigsaw

Ok its growing on me.... the Van Halen factor still needs to be toned down though IMO but.... it IS growing on me...

I told you. It gets you on the repeat listenings.

Thx very much TheBang for the download link - it's now on the iPod almost on repeat! It is so upbeat and makes me want to smile & dance :)

Re: Diamond Jigsaw

After getting over the initial feeling of 'this doesn't sound like the UW I'm used to' I found myself getting quite into this song on the successive listens, I think Bang is pretty much spot on. :) Very happy and feel-good!

fuck me - i've just listened to this - are we back in the 80's????

that being the case - i love it obviously, but if i played this on my radio show - 'fromage' would be mentioned a few times, i believe ...

i can imagine this in a movie soundtrack - like footloose or breakfast club

i love it but its super commercial ....

Re: Diamond Jigsaw

First off....the recording on that clip is terrific! Did you manage to get the whole show?!?!?!

Secondly...when we heard this at the Joint the first thing we thought of was that the synth sounds just like a theme song from some 1980's cop or lawyer TV show.

Yes, keep eyes on RTSR.

Yeah, I definitely felt it was an 80's throwback too. I'm sure it was a very deliberate decision.

Yes agree, very deliberate approach....but I also feel like it's not nearly finished enough yet. I mean, they've played it maybe a handful of times live so far whereas Between Stars sounds finished and they're playing it out like crazy.

As for the Tracker...Bang you are my fucking hero. Now my g.f. can catch the rest of what she missed since the bouncers at the Joint wouldn't let her back in after she went outside because they were being total dicks. She and I both thank you profusely!

This has the feel of an 80's tech instructional video. I would love them to release something like this!! Keep on with the new stuff!

Ok just heard this all the way through for the first time. I love it. I actually really like the synth tone in this one. It's time to bring shit like that back.

agreed - this tune and the synth needs working to maximum effect - i'd like the 12" just to have the 7" version plus extended version - just like in the 80's (you can keep the freur style hair and clothes though they can stay in the past...)

No kidding to everyone that says that it sounds too 80's let's remember that lots of great tunes were made in the 80's!!

I like the song a lot, but honestly it IS the synth tone that makes this a great one for me!! It really does work!! Don't change it please!!!

Signed,
10000 Underworld fans

Re: Diamond Jigsaw

Underworld are going full circle with this, they started out in the 80's lets call it a comeback

the synth is THIS tune...

even if its unworked - I keep playing this live version because its awesome... :D

on a side note - i think the lyrical presentation on Diamond Jigsaw is a bit similar in style to Oasis (and a bit like cigarettes and alcohol) - maybe its only me...

Yes but lots of great tunes were not made by Underworld in the 80s. It hasnt aged well. (sorry rick/karl). I know theres a sort of 80s revival but this song has to change. I think its just being played now in a live setting with "proper" instruments and that Rick will modify it and make it sound more "underworldy" later. The basics are good. I like it, but I'm not in a hurry to hear a studio version until the band are finished with it. If thats next year, then fine. Meanwhile, lets enjoy hearing it live and hopefully hearing the changes that are being made.

hmmm its underworldy already - with Karl's vocals - thats all you need the rest can stay - especially the synth stabs - it does need polishing but not that much

Re: Diamond Jigsaw

Well, I'm ruddy loving this, constantly on my iPod alongside Deep Arch oddly. Good to hear more new songs with vocal alongside Between Stars.

Bamboo and You Do Scribble are good as well, but missing Karl's lyrics.

Re: Diamond Jigsaw

i really like it. its a quality track imo. something about it is making me smile. would i like an entire album of this 'sound'? nope. but this track sure is fun.

Re: Diamond Jigsaw

I love the song, personally. It's like an MK. I track done from the perspective of Underworld today. Admittedly there's a bit of a rift between it and the other songs they've been trying out live lately, but then again there was a similar rift between Two Months off and the rest of the AHDO songs, and the boys made that work out just fine. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if Diamond Jigsaw was the lone survivor of or among the few survivors of UW6 for live performances in the future (as was the case with Two Months Off and, more recently, Beautiful Burnout).

Re: Diamond Jigsaw

Ok, this track is growing on me with additional spins. Buuuut, 1) i'm predisposed to love Underworld and 2)i therefore probably overreact to the good and am perhaps harder on tracks i don't like.

Yes, it's super catchy. But with the 1980's synth sound, i can't shake the feeling that i'm listening to "Valerie" by Steve Winwood or something.

TheBang, thanks for sharing such a high quality recording for us to enjoy.

I love this song.

I would be perfectly happy with it staying the way it is, however I think there is a lot of potential here for change to the song. More so than many of the other unreleased pieces, especially Strumpet.

it's a fun song and i'm waiting to see what they can do with it in the studio, because it sounds a little bit pop-ish, and that's not a bad thing, it's just too different from what uw has been doing for years.
