Re: Apple + Underworld

its like seeing his posts may mean that you're in some sort of fever dream... did it happen? was i there? did i merely imagine someone being a dick just now? whooooo knooows

he was sorta right tho, as far as music players go there isnt much to complain about itunes for. tho i dont get how someone wouldn't know how to use it. guys it's pretty basic: source folder, play music, make playlists, repeat. maybe you can go bananas and make SMART playlists, maybe you can ask genius to hold your hand if youre feeling boring.
point is, if it plays what i have, what the hell is there to complain about?

King of Snake 07-29-2009 11:22 AM

Re: Apple + Underworld

saying there's not much to complain about it is different from saying there's nothing out there that does the same things as well or better than iTunes though.
But then you don't get Winamp on mac ;)

awaiting the typical mac user response. "Its just fine for me. I never wanted to do that anyway"

yeah. . thats exactly the problem (might be overlooked if it werent such a resource hog)

#1 gripe - interaction with audio metadata sucks with ITunes:

why do I have to open another window to edit an artist name/track number/album title? I should be able to click and hold mouse over track title and the track should go into edit mode!

dubman 07-29-2009 01:28 PM

Re: Apple + Underworld

listen, i'm strongly against the mac/pc debacle in general. i think both machines are differently paved avenues leading to the same end, and i can move between both with ease.
but click twice on the song (not double click) and you can edit the title that way too. so BLD still has/had a point.
i have winamp on my pc, it's okay. i end up doing anything i care to in either one.

Re: Apple + Underworld

So is the back catalogue released on Friday too or tomorrow?

joethelion 08-02-2009 03:28 PM

Re: Apple + Underworld

on a Mac, in iTunes, you can easily edit track titles, etc by clicking it once (to highlight it) then a single click again

and if you press 'ctrl' while clicking you have more options

as far as UW's catalogue being available on iTunes...

I think AT LEAST they should be able to put everything back that was there before (all albums, Crocodile EP, and the Beaucoup Fish singles) ....AND...

all of the tracks that were available on iTunes in different territories (JAL to Tokyo EP, those two remixes of Beautiful Burnout [rick's mix & the mark knight dub])

...now it'd be nice if they had the old singles, promo releases (like Rick's Bungalow version of KOS) and remixes of other artists, but I'm not holding my breath

testudo 08-03-2009 08:50 AM

Re: Apple + Underworld

I think its so strange how there are no release dates for any of the iTunes stuff (or am I missing something)...

Or will everything be released on the 7th?

There's a bit more info on the broadcast page now, and a new test movie.

Unfortunately, all it really did for me was prove to me that 3g speeds around here are rubbish, so watching a live gig on my phone is still a way off being practical.

At least it'll just work in regular quicktime, so I can still watch it on my pc.

Re: Apple + Underworld

WOW...

there are actually FEWER releases on iTunes now than there was about a year ago...

now - yes, I did have everything on there before

but I mean... come on!

there used to be the BF & AHDO singles
I wanna say even stuff from earlier periods as well

now - there's just the main albums and a condensed version of the digital release of Crocodile

(edit)
the only "new" thing on iTunes is the "Alligator Version" of the Crocodile video
which - if memory serves me... wasn't available to download (on iTunes) before UW's catalogue was removed

this really just seems to be a bad marketing gimmick
like... "hey guys, we can make a buzz around you by removing you're catalogue from the music store... then just before you do a short primarily West-Coast-Only... we'll make the SAME stuff available again. But get this... we'll make it seem like it's a HUGE deal!"

(edit 2)
I seriously want an answer NOW as to why the JAL EP isn't available in the US

TheBang 08-04-2009 02:25 PM

Re: Apple + Underworld

Yeah, all the V2/Wax Trax stuff disappeared from iTunes (US) about 6 months ago. And yes, the Alligator video is new(er) and wasn't available in the US before.

joethelion 08-04-2009 04:19 PM

Re: Apple + Underworld

...so is it just me

or is it a bit ridiculous that they hyped it up

and the ONLY "new" thing is an alternate version of a video that's been online already for over a year?

No, it's not just you, but to be fair I wasn't really expecting much. The promotion seemed to be more for the streaming Oakland show & iDrum app (anyone get this yet? I don't have an iPhone) and the re-releases weren't really hyped on uwlive at all.

TheBang 08-04-2009 06:22 PM

Re: Apple + Underworld

Um. All the new stuff isn't up on iTunes yet. It's currently still in the same state it's been for the past few months. Patience. iDrum hasn't been released yet either.

Actually it has:
http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/M...324031786&mt=8

Songs gleaned from the snapshots and description:
Nuxx
TMO
Cowgirl
VoxJam (new/exclusive song)
Crocodile
Jumbo
KOS
Lenne Penne
BB

not sure what the other 4 are

TheBang 08-04-2009 07:00 PM

Re: Apple + Underworld

Go go, someone download and tell us how it is!

Also, the iTunes Store has been filled with the back catalog now. Just the albums. And they're cheap ($7.99).

Of interesting note, the label and copyright says "underworldlive.com". Does UW have exclusive control of their back catalog now?

Flywaver 08-05-2009 01:41 AM

Re: Apple + Underworld (iDrum Underworld Edition)

I have the new App.... In UK its £2.99
The 4 other tracks are
Mo Move
Moaner
Pearl's Girl
Two Months Off

Vox Jam sounds a half speed BB but its nothing special but just for jammin
probaly for practice for the main tracks

Noticed that many of the tracks sound different to the originals which is nice!

Im a little let down with the back catalogue... But as Obi Wan once said.....Patience! errr cant remember what else. One thing we need with Underworld is this and as there is new material on its way im pretty chuffed in what we have! ;o)

From looking at Amazon, it seems that Dubno and STITI are both out of print in the US at least.

Using this and slowly getting the hang of it.

Basically allows you to select a slice of a song and mess with it. Can single out parts of the bit your working on so it doesnt become a mess or you can use the preset stuff to gradually build up and mix stuff in like Rick does.

Re: Apple + Underworld (iDrum Underworld Edition)

I'm sad about VoxJam, they could have put a really amazing track instead of quasi-remix. I really was hoping for Diamond Jigsaw :(

BrotherLovesDub 08-05-2009 10:22 AM

Re: Apple + Underworld (iDrum Underworld Edition)

You can also add any element from the other tracks to any song. Put the Jumbo 909 on Vox Jam with the snares from Pearls Girl. It's actually a bit more involved than I was thinking it would be. Hours of fun.

Is it possible to mute two audio channels at the same time? Guess you can if you have quick fingers but it can get a bit wonky.

Loved to have had Rez/Dirty Epic in there.

Re: Apple + Underworld (iDrum Underworld Edition)

My thing is missing the Vox Jam. Could I have accidently deleted it?

And

Is there a way of going to default settings? E.g. I bet NUXX drums in to Jumbo, they kind of stay there and I cant remember what was originally there.

grady 08-05-2009 08:41 PM

Re: Apple + Underworld (iDrum Underworld Edition)

If an update comes around maybe a bit of Luetin, oich oich, and puppies with some vocal samples like Vox Jam.

(just wishing here is all)

In iPhone 'Settings' scroll down until you see the iDrum icon. Touch this and then switch on 'Reset Content' When you next launch iDrum it'll set everything back to how it was originally.

I don't think I've ever had so much fun with an iPhone app :D

and make up new remixes.. i know i would do a whole bunch
of them..

be seeing you

Do you need an iPod Touch or iPhone to use apps? Will they work on a Macbook? Really want to have a play with this...

iPod Touch or iPhone required.

I've had lots and lots of fun so far, well worth the $4.99 already and I'm only scratching the surface.

More tracks than I was expecting and a chance to see how bad my timing is!

Re: Apple + Underworld (iDrum Underworld Edition)

Help!
Being curious (and an idiot at times) I saw a trash can icon above my little dootle around with 'Nuxx'...I pressed it thinking I was binning my shitty mix, but appear to have binned the entire fucking track!!!!
Do I now have to buy the entire thing again? Even more stuopidly, this is one of the only apps i did not back-up on the lappy between the purchase time and the pressing of this orrible icon with my febrile finger!
Help?

BrotherLovesDub 08-09-2009 10:33 PM

Re: Apple + Underworld (iDrum Underworld Edition)

go into your iPhone Settings, scroll down to Applications, select iDrum, turn Reset Content on. Restart iDrum.

Re: Apple + Underworld (iDrum Underworld Edition)

Thank you kid Sir...one more div's question...having great fun re-mixing stuff, but can we extend the track out to 3 or 4 minutes? I'm sure I'm missing a trick or 20...but having a blast with it I have to say!!!!

BIG thanks to Rick & Karl for this marvel. There's so much depth to it and it's made my daily commute more than bearable over the last week. I've even got some tracks as ringtones now :D

BTW there's an interesting interview with Dave Spiers on the making of the app at the Izotope site. http://www.izotope.com/artists/dave_spiers.asp
