Re: OWB Chart Position...

do charts matter any more???

ffs, the Eagles will be number one this week...

UW are not and have never been a major chart act, maybe a major electronic act, but in truth they are no where near as big as the Chems in terms of chart popularity... a club hit hear and there but other than that they have remained in the 'underground' scene

the word has been spread about the album in the usual media, but dance and electronica in general is not a big deal these days, its been 5 years since the 'public' was aware of any new uw material, and things have changed a lot in that time, musically...

its no big deal imo...

i like to see the album do well for the lads, but as long as its out there, that is all that matters, even if people end up buying it cheap in the sales, as long as people pick it up and listen to it is all that matters in the long run...

one thing about not being under pressure of a major label is that if the LP doesn't perform sales / chart wise, no one will be on the boys backs - and it won't stop them making more music in the future...

top 50 ain't bad... i'd rather be big in Japan anyway!

Underworld will probably be earning more money from an album self released reaching say number 20 in a chart than if they were on a major and reached number 1, as they will own more of there music seeing a higher return.
Also the amount of country's it will be released in will amount to a decent income!

Long may it continue!

Eagles number one becuase the bloody album is only £8.95. I've sold about 40 over the last two days.

hey, i like the eagles!

also, if underworld waited 28 years to release an album,
would we still be waiting?

i think it took steely dan 20+ years to release 'two against nature'
also...

sometimes its worth the wait, sometimes not..

OWB was definitely worth the 5 year wait since AHDO! :)
(though we've had plenty of other musical things from the boys to keep us interested between records).
Yeah, i don't put too much credence in the chart-toppers anymore, because i'm seldom a fan or what counts as the most popular music. It's more fun to look wayyy down the list and see how the really talented, deserving bands are faring. So much more satisfying to see the likes of UW and other less-mainstream musicians having some degree of success.
