For many years I had a big UW vs. Prodigy struggle, but it's now absolutely clear that UW are the absolute winners. The Prodigy turned into a very wrong direction with this punk-rock-something, I preferred their rave-electro period from 1991-1995. It's a big shame that they somehow ignoring this era, not playing much songs from their first LP, and their music lost its creativity on their latest album.

They aren't - got to see Out Of Space performed live for the first time in my life this year.

Yeah The Prodigy are responsible for my favourite B-Side of all time; No Man Army on the UK Smack My Bitch Up single. Cracking drum stuff, instantly recognisable as Proj work.

Yes, but how much can you say Undeworld has evolved from Dubnobasswithmyheadman to Beaucoup Fish, or even One-Hundred Days Off? Not nearly as much from the B-sides of Experience to their most recent album. I didn't want The Fat of the Land 2.0. Nobody did.

Go back and listen to the new stuff, and it's surprisingly good after you get your mind set on the fact that it isn't the same old The Prodigy.

People criticised both Liam and Norman Cook for producing off-beat, electronic albums that went in a direction different than the 303-fest we have going on now, but even if people don't completely sound like them, but merely incorporate parts of their new style into their more contemporary acts, the producer's efforts won't be in vain.

the New stuff is so layered and subversive that I still hear new elements in the tracks. For instance, listen to 'the Way It Is' with headphones on...you'll hear a mellow funk guitar loop that you cannot usually even hear.

Liam did a great job on AONO. Also, the songs Razor and Back 2 Skool on 'Their Law' are brand new tracks btw.:D

You cant compare FBS new style with Liams new style, both are unique, but FSB was always better. In old 303 time and in thi new era.
Please dont get me wrong i respect Liam for Experience, but from that time they went downhill. Last time they was on top was with Fat Of The Land.

Prodigy was strong in that old sound, the new look dont pass to them...

We never know what will be next album of our fav band. Compare Prodigy to the Chemical Brothers in this time. Chems are ready to kill every living thing...

Phill Hartnoll will love these words...:D

Respect, Peace

EDIT: Liam is not the worse, the downhill ride did Daft Punk this year.

No Homework, No Discovery
Daft Punk loses a face, but one half on the band (Thomas) is still kicking hard...

How is that possible?

Yes, it'll remain to be seen how this collection sounds...ultimately greatest hits collections are for the casual listener who might like a few songs and hear others that will lead them to buy more. The fanatics already own it all, anyway, and will have their complaints. The bonus disc is a nice gesture to the fanbase, though, just as the Chems' comp. was. i wasn't aware that the Orbital disc was designed to simply be a "singles" collection, but it was effective in getting me into the band back in 2002. Later i realized how tracks had been altered or shortened, but at the time it was pretty special.

Concerning the Prodigy's latest output, i'll say again that most people in the US were barely aware they were still around! They remember "Firestarter" and that's the aging image that's stuck. AONO was, for all it's revisions and rough edges (Juliete Lewis' vocal, i'm looking in your direction!), a pretty enjoyable record. It didn't sound like FOTL or Experience, but different needn't equal Bad. Take the new Royksopp...it's no "Melody AM", but it's good in its own way. I'm sure there are some people who think Daft Punk's "Human After All" is a fine progression, too. It's tough for bands who put out a legendary album(s), because they'll always be compared to that earlier work, methinks.

Human After All is excellent.

It's rough around the edges. A welcome change after the synth heavy, good-times Discovery.

Holden; You think the prodigy climaxed with Experience? I can't even begin to respond to that....

Nope..i didn't say anything of the sort! i only said AONO was different than FOTL and Experience, and not bad at all. i didn't name a favorite, cos i like them all for different reasons. Just as with Royksopp and Daft Punk. and now i'm repeating myself!:p
