Re: RIP New Order?
I don't understand Matt. What's Marr gonna do? I've revisited my Electronic discs and they don't stand the test of time by a long shot. it's drivel mostly.
As far as leaving with Technique, how can i argue with that? I tend to agree, although, I did like that last disc. |
Re: RIP New Order?
Well post the first Electronic album which is really a New Order album for the most part, crap rapping aside. :)

Re: RIP New Order?
well - I don't know about them quitting so early on
I thought that "Regret" "Ruined in a Day" and "Spooky" weren't bad, despite the overall blandess of "Republic" and I really liked "Get Ready" I thought that "Waiting for the Sirens' Call" is basically like "Republic Part Two" in that it's only got 2 or 3 good tracks, with a lot of fluff and filler |
Re: RIP New Order?
New Order will split up and Joy Division will come, and then again New Order, believe me I would enjoy this chain...
Im still sad of it, I hope that they did not say last word;) |
Re: RIP New Order?
mainly for me, in recent years, the stand out tracks have generally been the singles off the albums (except a couple) and mainly some of the remixes... especially the WFTSC remixes (mostly unreleased - due to label mismanagement - but thats a whole other story)
despite this, i think the pinnacle of Technique, has perhaps, clouded our judgement of the other more recent albums... which in the main are pretty good, but just not what we expected after Technique... and the whole remix debaccle of Ruined in a Day which included a remix for every genre basically put Republic to the sword more recently though - i think Get Ready is a good accomplished album, as is WFTSC... typical of most albums by any band, 75% good, 25% poor... unlike Technique which was 100% - all killer, no filler! as for Electronic - i thought the first album was tremendous...and yeah it was New Order in essence, and the second album still has its merits... perhaps i'm just wanting for the old days to come back... sadly comebacks are never what they seem... maybe we'll just fork out £80 a ticket for a tour in 20 years time, like we have to, to see Genesis & the Police.... |
Re: RIP New Order?
the last Electronic LP was incredible. the b-sides for that album were also very, very good. in fact, there are some absolute gems hidden on the Electronic singles. only Raise The Pressure was an absolute dud, but the debut and Twisted Tenderness are both great albums.
