ALAF will be great as released track for sure.

ahhh - I see your point... I was kind of thinking of the track being released exactly as we're hearing it now...

I'll still say that the slower, original version was better

but I would def be miffed if "Biro the leggy" was anything more than either a bside or download-only track (well - it'd be ok if it were like a 'bonus' track on the album) ...just b/c "Biro" is the original version of "Mo Move"

I was just saying I thought they were on a roll with it, and I hope they've kept developing it.

And as far as wanting to hear ONLY new things that we've never heard before, I just don't get it. Was "Mo Move" made any less enjoyable as a track by the fact that we heard a version of the opening arpeggio in the Music Bank video from '01? Or because a kernel of the lyrics were a part of the Spin magazine diaries?
Part of what has made Underworld such a pleasure to watch and listen to over the years has been their willingness to share a bit of the Process with their fans (the general public really. it's not like you have to be a paying fan to see the websites). Maybe it's just because I work in sound design, but I tend to doubt it.

the thing about underworld on this round is that they wanted to get away from the complacency of AHDO. to me it means doing what they've been doing on the riverrun tracks, only more suited for an album instead of web-only experimentation.
you cant really go back to those days without looking like you're recycling and failing to break from that complacency, making the brand-new, 50% more daring underworld look like it's not convinced of it's new direction.

i think i just have high hopes for their next album. after beaucoup fish everyone tacitly agreed that they had settled and could now function as "influences" for everyone instead of still impacting music in any new or relevant way. i feel that there's been a perspective shift from 2002 based on interviews and i think they just might remedy that and be just as exciting as, say, the new justice record coming out.

which might be incredibly difficult and unfair, but they *can* do it.

i want to hear some something really surprising, is all. but if i had to pick, i'd pick something with a combination of odd mellotron(ish) ahs like in 'dark and long', tons of odd beats and time signatures like in 'cherry pie', some really emotional lyrics like 'dirty epic', and a really tight guitar solo (haven't heard that yet from them, just kind of loose jamming).

i don't really like 'always loved a film', really. it kind of gets on my nerves for some reason. i really dig 'you do scribble' and how it builds up dramatically, if only it were even more dramatic and had some good solid lyrics, it could be another masterpiece like cups or kittens. not to say it would be anything like those, but it would be as good or better than those.
