Re: Massive Attack (live in Seattle)
Please share what happens, anyone who attends the show tomorrow night!
I was planning to go and then was lucky enough to come down with mono about a week and a half ago. FUCKING VIRUS! I was even going to try and get a ticket to see Tool up in Seattle on May 2nd. Oh well. |
Re: Massive Attack (live in Seattle)

Re: Massive Attack (live in Seattle)
does anyone really care about Massive Attack anymore? Hasn't everything they've released in the last 10 years been shit? well, i still pay to see newOrder so my reasoning is flawed. and i didn't buy tickets but from what i hear, it's not even sold out yet.
tell me how wack it was in the morning. |
Re: Massive Attack (live in Seattle)
BLD get off your HIGH horse homie and don't get mad that you missed one of the best shows of the year...
Massive were excellent, they played a couple of new songs, and most of the material they performed was from Mezzanine and 100th Window, which made me very happy. The stage/light show was about what it was 8 years ago, which = dope. Anyway, their combo of the creepy and the sublime and of organic and synthetic textures are moving live. |
Re: Massive Attack (live in Seattle)
Yeah, I'm sorry, but all this slagging of Massive Attack's recent stuff is bullshit. It's trend related, it's people who gave 100th Window a couple of listens and put it aside. ALL the songs 3-d sings on that album are wonderful, sublime pieces of songwriting. And Mezzanine is better than that.
Seriously, Future Proof, Butterfly Caught, Small Time Shot Away, Antistar are fucking killer. You don't like it? Fine. But this shit like, "Oh who cares about them anymore?" or Pitchfork calling Butterfly Caught "embarassing" (not their word, I think, can't be bothered to check) is idiotic. But, I forget, BLD is the authority on all music. |
Re: Massive Attack (live in Seattle)
absolutely agree
the only dud on the album is "Prayer for England" it's the only cohesive ALBUM by MA. Like, none of the previous ones really 'gel' well together. There's always the sense of them tacking on an extra song here and there Quote:

I really like 100th Window and tend to listen to it quite a lot lately, because I'm just in that mood. Butterfly Caught is actually REALLY FUCKING good. That beat is simple but fucking amazing. I like it how he used a lot of violins, but in a very good way, and actually really fitting in the electronic mood of the album. Anyway. I'm gonna see Massive Attack on Lowlands Festival in August. Looking forward. |
Re: Massive Attack (live in Seattle)
The strings at the end of Butterfly Caught should go on forever.
