Just finished my second complete listening of the album. I like it a lot, but I also feel like certain tracks could have been better. I think "Drunk Girls" is mediocre, and "Pow Pow" sounds like Murphy just goofing around in a mic, which is fine and all but for some reason that track leaves a bad taste in my mouth...

There are some other tracks I love though, mainly "Dance Yourself Clean", "All I Want", and "Home." Have you guys seen the 5 youtube clips he posted a while ago? Those clips were really well-made. It basically just showed him creating parts of the songs and I think it's interesting to see that and then hear the album because you can really hear things in the background that I probably wouldn't have realized before. Also, certain parts of the clips were filmed with a vintage-technique and there's a lot of quick cuts that make you feel connected. I wish they had enough footage to make a whole movie out of that. I've yet to see a film that truly captures the thought process and frustration of a band creating a hyped-up album and I think those clips kind of nailed it for me.

Anyways, I'm enjoying the newest effort. I heard a rumor that Murphy stated this is going to be the last LCD Soundsystem album. Is there any truth to this?

From what I've heard it's the last one, although many artists say that after finishing an album that's particularly taxing...he never said for sure. To compare I think Radiohead says it after practically every album...

As for the album...heard it once on the streamer, was very impressed...I really wished there was some high-energy rave up like "Us v Them" somewhere, but I picked out about 5 tracks I thought were really excellent, and I'm sure when I get the real thing I'll give it a lot of spins. I don't know if I'm gonna like as much as SoS but it's definitely better than the debut.

So everything past the first single sucked?? Could you explain?? Not to sound like a fanboy but if LCD sounds like mediocre to you I'd like to know what kind of music you've been listening to...

Arctic Fucking Monkeys are Eikman's number 1 group on Last.FM. I wouldn't trust his opinion on anything musical.
