Re: collectors' corner
deckard236, I recommend you use Max to rip the CD:
http://sbooth.org/Max/ Go to the Preferences, and under the "Formats" section add "FLAC" as a format and check the checkbox. Under the "Ripper" section, change it to "cdparanoia". Then, insert your CD and rip the tracks. The rip will probably end up in your "Music" folder. Then, as BrotherLovesDub suggests, Transmission is the best torrent client on the Mac. Do you need help with how to make and upload a torrent? |

Re: collectors' corner
1. First you need to generate the torrent file. In Transmission, go to File and choose "Create Torrent File". Select the FOLDER of all the audio files. Then, in the Trackers field, put in the announce URL for the tracker (in this case, http://tracker.rtsr.net/announce.php). Then click "Create". The .torrent file will be created (probably on your desktop).
2. Now, you need to upload the torrent to the tracker. Go to http://tracker.rtsr.net/torrents-upload.php Fill out the form, including the .torrent file you just generated. 3. Now, you'll need to re-download the torrent file. There will be a link to do so on the webpage. Double-click the newly downloaded .torrent file to open it in Transmission. In Transmission, point the download location to the FOLDER containing the audio files, and then click "Add". It should now verify the files, and after a few seconds, it will start "Seeding" the files. That is, the progress bar will be solid green. Now, just leave Transmission running. People will be able to download the files from you, so long as you are seeding it. |
Re: collectors' corner
The torrent is on! :D *drools*
@deckard236: I see you as a peer with 0.0% downloaded, have you done step 3 above? |

Re: collectors' corner
Thanks so much for sharing these tracks, deckard236.
There are clearly elements from Tongue, Skyscraper and Bigmouth in these tracks. Lovely stuff (even if I understand why they didn't make it to Dubno). |
Re: collectors' corner
These tracks are awesome...! Thank you deckard236! You are holding a piece of history in your hands... :D
To me it sounds like The Hump / Mother Earth, Karl's MK1 style vocals + Rick's Lemon Interupt style beats & pads. Is that Karl doing the Eclipse vocals in Organ? hehe... One question: If I want to assemble the whole album, do I take the tracklist you posted earlier? Because in the torrent Can U Feel Me is track number 2 and not 9. |
Re: collectors' corner
deckard236, thank you so much. No one said this before because I think we were cautiously skeptical, but the proof is in the pudding. I don't think anyone even knew these tracks existed, and you have generously shared a rare and unique piece of Underworld history with us.
It wasn't quite clear from your original post. Do you have the actual DAT? Or just a CD copy of it? If you have the DAT, could you post a picture of it? I'm sure there are some on here that would offer you a pretty penny for it. Also, could you perhaps share the rest of the tracks? I wonder if any of them are different from the eventual album versions. At a minimum, you listed "River of Bass" as 9:06, which is longer than any released version. |
Re: collectors' corner
Im happy that the music is on the tracker, so many thanks for that. Thanks also to the people helping Deckard236 in uploading it. However, as this is on the RTSR tracker, and this isnt really the thread for this (though news of it is astounding) further discussion should either be in a new thread, and discussion of any files should be on the RTSR Yahoo Group. We welcome new members with open arms, really :)
Once again, deckard236: thank you for your contribution! |

personally, hearing sounds of my early teenage years holds some special value: i imagin whan would have happend if i'd known them then... thinking about the super-crap stuff i listened to in '93.. so really: thank you! hearing fresh tunes from yesteryear really blows my mind... Quote:

Re: collectors' corner
awesome stuff deckard236
Can U Feel Me has the same part as Vocoder Monks 'a hole in the back of the sun' = runout groove on The Hump 'Can you feel me, like I feel you/Can you hold me in your dreams' is also in Mother Earth although heavily computerized. |

I'm thinking that these demo pieces might be from as early as 1992 or 1991. If these are progenitors of later pieces (Organ -> Eclipse, Can U Feel Me -> Vocoder Monks, etc.), then they would necessarily have to be earlier than 1993. |
Re: collectors' corner
Big Meat Show is great! thanks a million* Deckard.
*not in US currency |
Re: collectors' corner
Go listen to the last 3 minutes of "Mmm Skyscraper" on dubno. It's "Can U Feel Me". Much different from this early demo version, but you can hear the elements and lineage there. I always wondered about that section of Skyscraper, and now we know.
(Also, maybe a mod should break all of these posts out of collector's corner into a new thread.) |
Re: collectors' corner
"Can U Feel Me" was on another tape cassette labeled as "Feel Me" which is 4:00 faded out...
other track out there: Faded Love Sex Lies (Rock) Sex Lies Winter Moon Yours Faithfully Faith Healer Spirit Of The World Isolation Mother Earth.. early mix would be nice to hear the stories about those... and here i was spending all my time with the nice doggy lol |

Re: collectors' corner
I'm still trying to get ahold of a pair of the addidas UW Tomato shoes. I've searched everywhere, but I can't find anything my size. I wear a size US 12 or 12 1/2. It's gotten to the point where I don't mind if they're fakes; I just want a pair really bad!!!
Does anyone know of a place that supports my size? Any help would be greatly appreciated! |

Re: collectors' corner
A quick question ...
is cross border the same as Van Halen Van Halen? 3 video screens with highway signage/ truck stop imagery and tomoto woman's voice describing a trip to NY? this audio was streaming during the Art Jam but have always called this cross border based on a spoken word piece I had of Karl quite a few years ago. just curious. |
Re: collectors' corner
that was crossING border
names after the crossing border festival in the netherlands http://www.nrc.nl/W2/Lab/Profiel/Border/selectie.html (in dutch) |
Re: collectors' corner
Based on Book of Jam 7 (spread pages 30-32), that is indeed Van Halen Van Halen Rock Guitar Band.
What is this spoken work piece you mentioned? |
Re: collectors' corner
I remember the spoken word piece having much of the same dialogue as crossing border but spoken by Karl. At one point Karl describes a beautiful photograph of a car with a dead rat attached to it that "stinks". Also talking about cell phones in dead zones and not picking up hitchhikers, pressure drop, Toots and the Maytals.
I don't know where it came from. Anyone else remember this? |
