Re: collectors' corner

Does anybody remember that EVERYTHING, EVERYTHING promotional video from waay back, before the DVD came out? It was kind of an infomercial with a British female voiceover explaining all the features of the DVD. I forget where that was made available but I lost it years ago and just remembered it.

Anybody know where to find it, or feeling kind enough to share it with me?

Thnx.

Thanks!

Wow, that is sending me back. My friends and I used to gather around my old black PowerBook G3 and watch the QuickTime vid again and again before the DVD came out.

Does anybody remember how the video was originally distributed? Was it on Underworldlive? Did that site exist yet?

Jan 02-22-2008 05:35 AM

Re: collectors' corner

It was distributed on a promo with the cat. no. JBO1014942P.
It is listed here:
http://bigscreensatellite.co.uk/interviews.htm

The video itself is a quicktime movie (bad video and audio quality by todays standards) and is nearly 100 MB.

Found this today. Check out the Live CDs. From the description and what I can make out from the picture, these are the same ones as the Live Here Now CDs, but these look pretty damn cool.

The Seller is NOT 100% sure these were made in a Factory...hmmm?
Still, they look great.

Nah, they look like crap, tbh. It's a shame the bootleggers are out in force. I wonder if they are commercial bootlegs, or if it's just homemade by this seller.

I get the feeling they are homemade, somehow. Just look at his feedback - he has sold a LOT of boots. 16 since the new year alone, averaging $25-$30 a pop. Nice work if you can get it.

You can see printer stripes on the covers, I have a feeling they are copies of the LHN stuff from the description probably burned from MP3 acquired from some place or other...

I bought a SALT TANK Live CD from this seller years ago and it was a POOR copy!
Printed covers and labels on CDR...

When I complained he said that it was the original from the band (limited to 500 copies) but within the last few years he sold at least 10 more of his homemade Salt Tank cdrs...
So better beware!

Reading his terms and conditions of sale, he seems like a very dodgy character indeed. "Not sure" if they are bootlegs my ass. And anyone who blatantly says "unless you give me a 5 star rating on all categories on feedback I will not give you good feedback" is an idiot. I wouldn't have any dealings with this dork at all.

I've reported him, they are the first five LHN shows and why is Darren Emerson on the artwork for a 2007 tour?

Well, if you look carefully, that's not one of the LHN shows, as the 5 2007 shows are accounted for by the other jewel cases in the picture.. It's unclear what show, exactly, that one is.

It's "The Rarities" he also mentions in the description.

Been wanting to reply to this for a long time, Raj.
What's this edit like? Early fade out or different in any way?

This is my first post here and I have a collectors question. I have a CD I made of of a dat that was given to me in 91 or 92 that has as far as I can tell 3 unreleased UW tracks. My question is has anyone ever heard of these 3 tracks? They are "Big Meat Show" "Organ" & "Can U Feel Me" I am an avid collector of UW music and I have very close to a complete collection of tracks and remixes. But in all my searches I have never run across any mention of these.

These are studio recordings. The dat was loaned to me by an acquaintance that was managing the bands U.S interests at the time and was trying to get them a deal in the states. Now that I am at home I see the date on the copy that I made was 9/20/93. The songs on the dat are labeled as follows:
Dirty Epic 9:58
Jamscraper 8:54
Big Meat Show 6:43
MMM Skyscraper I Love You 13:01
Organ 6:19
River of Bass 9:06
Dark And Long 7:28
Dirty Fuzz 9:59
Can U Feel Me 4:25
Goodbye Mother Earth 7:07
As you can see most of these tracks ended up on DNBWMHM, and are the exact same mixes. Jamscraper was on the skyscraper single (which I was never able to find on CD, & Dirty Fuzz appeared on a later single as Dirty Epic (Dirty Guitar Mix). That leaves the other 3. I always assumed that they would eventually appear on a single somewhere, but they seem to have been forgotten. While they fit in nicely with the other tracks I always felt that they are all kind of the missing link between the 2 different incarnations of the band, which is why they may have been shelved. I can't imagine that I am the only one that has these, so I finally decided to post this info to see what anyone might know. As far as posting the songs, I have never done that so any help as to the best way to do that would be appreciated.

Re: collectors' corner

Could they possibly be versions of "The Hump" or "Why Why Why"?

Re: collectors' corner

one way is to get someone to transfer the DAT over
to a computer, as WAV files.... and then convert those
over to mp3 etc..

if you have a DAT and a soundcard on your computer, you should be able
to hook the stereo connections up to it, and use an
audio recording program to record it, and save the files..

from there, there are several options to posting the files,
to many of the free file sharing sites, like zshare.com or
megaupload.com , etc, etc.... you can pm some of the
people for more advice if you are having issues..

good luck, it will be interesting to hear those other tracks..

Definitely not Why Why Why, never heard the Hump, but I can't see how any of these songs could end up being called that.

If you have them digitized, you could post the songs as a torrent at the RTSR tracker. You can create the torrent file with µtorrent.
A lossless format like FLAC is recommended. MP3 is suboptimal.

Thanks for your efforts, I'm looking forward listening to those songs!

TheBang 10-03-2008 10:19 PM

Re: collectors' corner

He said they were on CD not DAT (just sourced from a DAT). That makes it easy. You can just use Exact Audio Copy to rip the CD. I recommend ripping to FLAC. Here's a tutorial:

http://filesharefreak.com/tutorials/...-with-eac-099/

You can then post the tracks a few at a time to file-sharing sites, such as Rapidshare:

http://www.rapidshare.com/

Or, if you're comfortable with BitTorrent, you can upload the whole CD to a bittorrent tracker, like the RTSR one as Jan suggests, or a public one such as The Pirate Bay.

I have registered at the RTSR site, and am waiting on acceptance. Reading through the rules it seems that posting unreleased UW tracks here IS acceptable. Please let me know if this is incorrect, I want to avoid any copyright infringements, I take this issue very seriously. Also I am on a Mac, and most of the torrent info I have come across is for Windows. Again, any help would be appreciated.

To the best of my deciphering skills the lyrics are:
BIG MEAT SHOW
Dreamed about this waitress, working in a restaurant
Dreamed about this waitress, working in a restaurant, she asked me to be on a quiz show
She took me to the make-up room, started kissing me all over

This is the big meat show, adult film star, welcome one and all

Wind speed rising, summers late this year
Two snakes in a bed, I’ve got my freak machine

Children of God, keep your eye on the ball
This is the big meat show, adult film star, welcome one and all

Blackard’s rising, stoned to the bone
Let’s take a ride let’s, shake and dive
Blackard’s rising, stoned to the bone
Let’s take a ride let’s, burn some rubber
Touchdown, crawl along the floor
Touchdown, give me some more

CAN U FEEL ME
Can you feel me, like I feel you
Can you hold me in your dreams
Your
Because I’m holding you

One time I was touching my feet, turn around and found something
One time there was nothing but feet
I put a hole in the back of the sun
If you got in you can feel it
I put a hole in the back of the sun

So can you feel me, like I feel you
Do you hold me in your dreams
Your
Like I’ve been holding you

One time there was nothing to lose
Here’s the fool that’s got something precious
One time there was nothing to lose at all
Dug a hole there was nowhere to run
In my head I found sanctuary
One time there was nowhere to run at all

So can you feel me, can you feel me
Like I feel you, like I feel you
Can you feel me, can you feel me
Like I feel you, like I feel you

Repeats various bits of lyrics through the end of the song
