interesting pic on uwlive today. Looks like we may be getting some live drumming (by who?) in upcoming gigs.

Question to Karl: you've mentioned you guys are excited about the changes to the setup. Could you (or maybe Rick) expand a bit more on what changes have been made and what this means for how underworld will be playing live in the near future?

Or for recording purposes?

well I guess, but the pic shows the rehearsal room/live setup so I'm thinking/hoping it might show up on stage as well :)

"drunken haze"... that's a bit worrying. What happened to the tea?

I can't imagine for one moment that Karl has relapsed - he's been sober for 10 years. This is either a past memory or was written by Rick celebrating his 50th

The (sausage and tomato?) stew on today's page looks delicious!:) Are the Hyde and Smith families bbqueing in this glorious English weather??

Reflections on youth and mortality from the land of the prematurely wrinkled. It's funny how the sun too, has it's dark side.

Appreciated the "heads up" to Tangerine Dream today - I've always assumed that Karl and Rick are fans. To name just one fav moment, Edgar Froesse's freeforming guitar on "Coldwater Canyon" is just fabulous :)

So can we add "Between Stars" as a new song then?

I remember just 8 years ago, sometime shortly after Emerson left, there was a joke going around
(I think Scott Werner started it) in the forums that Underworld was going to reform as a "rock band",
and everyone was mortified even at the thought of this! Now it it seems as though moves in this
direction are welcomed like some great advance forward!

I don`t know about this! Drums in the studio for sampling - awesome!
Live drums on stage - unacceptable!

Sorry, just my opinion.

Very much liking these snippets of lyrics that appearing and will probably change.

Another lyric sheet today, this one for a track tentatively titled "Diamond-Jigsaw", and with a very touching first verse. An inescapable reference to MJ's death today comes off heartfelt - what else can you expect from a group like Underworld? Makes me glad they're in no such chance of suddenly leaving us.

Notice the SEMTEX advertising on the Hradec Kralove festival site.

SEMTEX, SEMTEX... Now where do I know that brand name from?....

Aaah, yes. Plastic Explosives! I knew it was familiar

Montreaux DVD, mmm... Yes, please! And 2005's also. Better yet on Blu-ray!

*Montreux* ;)

They film each and every gig in Montreux - with high quality TV-studio cameras, that is! A bummer though that they don't release all of the recordings (although sometimes they creep up unexpectedly a few years later in a late-night TV program).

It seems Karl got hold of a copy, lucky bastard :)

TheBang 07-08-2009 02:36 PM

Re: Underworldlive version 3.0 thread

I always have a hard time spelling it. :)

They're all recorded and archived in HD by Montreux Sounds, which then licenses them to Eagle Vision for DVD and Blu-ray releases. Now, how to get an Underworld release...

I noticed that lineup a few days back. Thought that might be a nice vibe to play into.... Wish I could have been there with ya! Unstoppable.

Where is the site gone ?

Champiness 07-17-2009 12:39 PM

Re: Underworldlive version 3.0 thread

Off to a better place where it can frolic with all the other broken band webpages.
Or under the knife of the designer for the site overhaul we've been awaiting. That would be nice.

On twitter this is what Karl wrote bout the site, sounds like he tried to upload something from his busking yesterday and it done broke the site!!!

"underworldlive.com took a direct hit from the Anti-Busker. Awaiting techmedics & gaffa tape till then, imagine a diary entry for today"

... anybody got some good imaginary diary entries?

Haha, "Moaner" has a big Batman symbol. That jives with the whimsical nature of the mixer strips too. It'd be fun to see closeups of all the song cards and mixer strips.

This might be a stupid question, but what is the deal with "The Brotherhood of the Cards" thing, is that an Oblique Strategies reference?
