Not to mention, the film premieres in less than 2 months, so it damn well better be done.

Re: The Underworldlive.com thread

i dunno what counts as "ages" for someone who runs through tens of records in a couple weeks, but karl is actually right about shining.
the one before, which, confusingly enough, is the name of the lead-off song on this new one (which is high in the running for best song of 2007 so far) didnt quite do it for me. it was too much of a mess.
but this is the direction i needed them to take to tip the balance and make a record i think is really brilliant.

more lightning bolt and less sax noodling=win.

grindstone is a damn good album and thanks to karl for pushing me to hear it.

I've been a little distracted lately so pardon if this has been gon over already, but what's up with the little webcam link on the UWlive homepage?
It's new, right? Do anything for you? so far nothing for me but it's got
my attention - at least until I become distracted again : )

Re: The Underworldlive.com thread

it's gone now - the little red "webcam" link right below the "home"
link......intrigue - aNt, what's up with that or was it some kind of internet
mirage that I experienced this morning before a full cup of coffee? ; )

Nice pics. interesting and tantalizing.

Is that Crabby Road that they're recording at?

I was wondering about that too, but then I figured that, if the boys are presented with the option of changing venues and going to Crabby Road, why not? And I'm sure they're bouncing pieces of bits along the wire between the world of lemon and crabby road.

I think they like the toys in the cabinets at crabby road - they made mention of liking the selection of goodies if they asked correctly.

I wonder if mr. yared is still living next door to crabby road as well?

Anyone notice the update to the greeting text in the Archive? No new archive material yet, but it looks like it's coming soon. Yay!

Quote:

talk about starting the year with a bang! what happened to january being the month of relative calm and rest, a time to reflect and recover from the excesses of the festive period?!

back from abbey road studios and lemonworld is a veritable hive of activity with people holed up in corners hunched over computers, weird percussive instruments and half-cold cups of tea as new material gets lavished with gifts of love, care and attention. and cold tea.

and we're working on new additions to the archive to keep you entertained in the meantime.

hold tight......

Re: The Underworldlive.com thread

Perhaps Lemonworld isn't as equipped to record certain types of instruments as well as Abbey Road which is one of the best studios on the island. That pic from yesterday had a lot of instruments all over the place. While they may be able to record all of those at Lemonworld, the results will probably be much better when handled by staff that have years of experience with miking instruments. To the best of my knowledge, Rick and Karl probably don't know how to get the best piano sound and since EMI does most of its classical recording there, the piano is almost certainly a better instrument than what they have at home.

Re: The Underworldlive.com thread

Yeah, it looks like working on the soundtrack with Yared gave them access to Abbey Road and now they're making the most of the facilities there to do recordings for their own album. :)

My guess is that they fell in love with the sound of Studio A's acoustics (woops, I was wrong. Studio 2).
Or perhaps Rick and Karl got copies of Recording the Beatles for Christmas and decided to partake in some immitation as flattery. :D

"playing first draft of an album"

:)

dubman 02-14-2007 06:30 PM

Re: The Underworldlive.com thread

the riverrun projects were a side dish. it's not album material, it's closer to medleys of ideas that dont nearly have the cohesive weight of an album full of fleshed out, soild, stand-alone tracks

i'm not going to pretend that we got an album out of that when it was clearly formatted to be a net only, 192 kbps, teaser of more grounded, physical work to come.

so thats why we should still be hungry for a new album. of which they have a first draft of.
:happiness:

shit, i'm hungry. for food.

I thought the same thing. Given their current creative stylings it makes sense ...

Maybe it could be a concept album :)

I love todays link (http://www.londonist.com/archives/20..._a_diaboli.php)

Faust staged in a warehouse would be fantastic. I recently saw Faust the opera with my Dad. I wonder if he would let me take him to a warehouse performance ... ease him into the idea with a few plays before taking him to a real warehouse party ;)

I think Ant is upset that we are not getting excited over the new MOVIES from coccocococcooon.

IMHO, I like having just Quality audio tracks of live stuff...

So the question is will MOCKBA (moscow) be just audio? hmmm...
