mmm... it kinda looks like a V2 promo, but its hard to tell - some of the type fonts on some CD's are a bit strange, and this doesn't look like one i've seen before, but who knows...

all i know is that the Cowgirl Atomic Hooligan mix was never officially released, because AH asked me how they could get it released and I suggested that they send a copy of that and their Rez remix to JBO, which they did, (and in return they nicely sent a 2 mix acetate CD-R to me as well - ;) )

When it was announced that they were re-releasing Born Slippy, in 2003, they were persueded not to release the Cowgirl / Rez remixes...although they did have some white labels knocked up ready to go - which is what came out...

in return they were asked to remix Born Slippy 2003, because that was already scheduled and JBO/V2 didn't want conflicting tracks out there, well thats how i understand it....and as such Cowgirl (the AH mix) was never on the JBO/V2 schedule - which is why i'm doubtful about the origin of this CD...V2 wouldn't promote a 'bootleg' track, i don't think

although - either way its a good CD to have - as a CD quality copy of the AH mixes is nice, (as is the Rez mix...)

was there a verdict on this track?

is it 'officially' a promo only track?

or a bootleg?

i was going to add it to my uw MK3 listing..

personally - i'd say it was a bootleg - it was never official as far as i know...

the only Atomic Hooligan remix that was officially sanctioned was Born Slippy 2003, Rez and Cowgirl were knocked up by AH to showcase their work, and as such are not official items...although nice to own....

thanx, well i guess i can add it with a (*) since
i'm not completely sure where eil gets their
info, and if they haven't gotten a bootleg by
accident..

it would be an interesting job to see where they
get stuff from, how they price things, etc....

i'm not convinced yet...but its starting to
look a little more official..

promos are always hard to deal with, especially
in the recent years...all the earlier cd promos i had
had artwork, etc on them:

some off-hand:
dirty epic US promo
pearls girl (carp dreams...koi) US promo
juanita GER promo
dubnobasswithmyheadman US promo

almost all the promos from 'beaucoup fish'
had artwork:
push upstairs 1trk UK promo
push upstairs 1trk JAP promo
king of snake 2trk UK promo

and others:
cowgirl 3trk UK promo
anthology 2nd disc UK promo (with 'push up' as the track name?)
born slippy 03 6trk UK promo (black artwork)

i dont have any with the generic covers,
but i guess there were ones for:
dinosaur adventure 3d
born slippy 03
one hundred days off
anthology?

any others?

ULTRA RARE Promo for Underworld collectors/audiophiles. :D

I wonder why you are bidding so early... When i want something, i just wait 5 seconds before the auction ends and (hopefully) get it cheaper.

i'm not sure,
but since this one has a reserve price,
you can't really wait until the last minute,
unless the reserve price has been met..

so that really doesn't help in this case..

Hm, that set has every remix on it, eh? Is it legit? The only problem I see is that the Full Length of It edit is 6:09, not 4:34 (the album version).

Even when there's a reserve, I still do the last-second bidding thing to avoid a bidding war. I just e-mail the seller and ask what the reserve is set at, so I know what I need to bid. 90% of the time, they respond and tell you the reserve.

yeah, but if the price hasn't hit the reserve,
and you bid at that price, you can still get
outbid... so that doesn't gain you anything..

also, i've noticed if you try to bid up the price,
when it hasn't reached reserve, it still doesn't
'set' itself at that price...i don't know how to
get around that..

Sure it does. It lets you know the absolute minimum amount you would have to bid in order to win the item. I've seen items where the seller has set an unrealistic reserve, and knowing that ahead of time, I can delete the item from my Watch List and wait for a more reasonable auction to come along.

Assuming the reserve is reasonable, I can determine how high above that I am willing to pay, place my final (and only) bid at the last second, and again, avoid any bidding wars with people who like to bid throughout the auction, thus, hopefully keeping the final price at a minimum above the reserve price.

big screen satellite 05-08-2006 02:53 PM

Re: collectors' corner

well the reserve on this one is $100...which is quite high...

but now its been met, its a bidding war...

although i'm always wary of a bidder with '0' feedback rating... could be the buyer bumping the price up, using a friend or someone... but the current highest bidder is on 'zero' feedback... which seems a bit odd

In this case, I doubt that seller and bidder know each other or are the same person. In this auction the very same bidder's bid was cancelled because of zero feedback. So winterroth123 seems to be a bit slow-witted :)

Re: collectors' corner

And yet, let's look at the facts. You have a bidder (winterroth123) with a less than two month old account. He bids up to the reserve on a seller's (analog_model) item, and he has no bids on any other auctions for the past 30 days.

The only bid we can find from before that period is, again, on an item from the same seller, analog_model. And, in fact, the winterroth123 account was created on March 11, the same date as the first bids on that item.

It all looks very fishy to me...

Maybe he signed up initially because he wanted to bid for the 4 cd lot...we all have to start somewhere. :) He could be some Underworld maniac (thenumbertwosuperfan) only bidding for the super rarities. We'll probably never see those Push Upstairs cds again.

Anyway, I don't see anything suspicious per se...

Well, if he just started collecting he couldn't really have had an account before, could he...? :) I just don't see the logical connection between a long history of ebay bidding and the user's ability to bid on some rarity. Of course, I don't know if he really is bidding up the price. $122 is way too much for me anyway so I've already lost interest in the auction. :)

as much as i'd agree with you...

i have to say that if you had just started collecting would you seriously start buying one of the most expesnive items you could, surely you would pick up some cheaper bits first...

personally if i was selling a rare item at a high price i'd be very wary of bidders with 0 feedback and would investigate their intentions off ebay, by contacting them...this the seller may have done...

but asd a bidder on an auction like this it does lead me to be a bit wary too...the price has shot up because of two bidders with no feedback at all...

just seems a bit sus...but we'll see what happens at the end (i've emailed teh sleler and am waiting to hear from him as well..)

mark3 05-09-2006 09:52 AM

Re: collectors' corner

The third option is that the bidder is one of those irresponsible ones who drive up the price with no intention of honouring their bids. They are a pain in the ass for both seller and well-meaning bidders.

About bidding on cheaper stuff first - maybe, but personally I have sold a few quite expensive items to bidders with low or zero feedback, but I've had non-payers as well

Look forward to what the seller has to say about his zero-feedback bidders :) Let us know...

Re: collectors' corner

so my 8 track Buick Project (Remixes and Production) Showreel CD arrived today featuring two excellent remixes of Vanilla Monkey...

the Buick Project being Nic Fanciulli & Andy Chatterley...

the first mix, Buicks Early Doors remix is quite minimal in its featuring of Underworld (hardly any KH Vocals), but you certainly know its Vanilla Monkey...its a nice building groove

the second mix, the Buick Project Mix - is likely to be the one on a 12" or something, it features more of the instrumentation of teh original and more mumbled KH lyrics...

maybe both will feature on CD or 12" somewhere..i'd like to see that but if i was to choose one, it'd be the second mix...neither mix is an instant classic, but then again they are really quite far away from the original version and so do the job well, i'm not sure everyone will like them, but i do, its the kind of track that plays and you wonder what it is, and when someone tells you you go.. oh...and then try and find it

the production and remix quality are excellent, i hope the boys like what these and all the remixers are doing with their current work...
