Thanks!

Is it maybe the second youtube link that I posted?

Isn't the Barking alternate disc one sometimes called Silver Boots? Or was that a different one? I don't like it, anyway. Without the strings it's boring. It needs that pounding beat and funky bassline with the strings and vocals, like... well, like they were doing before it got all housed up for the charts.

I put that video up! Taken straight from Underworldlive. :)

Incidentally, is there anywhere I could get my hands on this elusive Electraglide 2000 recording? Besides RTSR?

That was Version 2-ish.

It was Electraglide 2003. Here's a video:

It's essentially Version 1 played live.

Ah. Nonetheless, I'd like to have it.

Finally I have a Disc 2! I could listen to the whole ALAF (Lemonword) and it's a bit boring. The version 4 is far better.
YDS is very good, and HHE and DJ too, but all the other versions are too similar to the album versions. For example BS is totally like the album version, but shorter.

Now I can tell it strongly that the final Barking versions are much better than the demos, more finished and beaten. And luckily the producers works are so minimal. So Barking is a sterling UW album.

Grace (Telematic Peal Mix) is a better than the version on the album proper. Other than that, the regular versions of everything else are clearly the finished article (You Do Scribble is pretty much a totally different track to Scribble. They should have just chucked it on at the end after Louisiana, I reckon. As a sort of encore)

I really like Hamburg Hotel (Essex). Very Burial.

Re: Barking: The Alternate Versions (Disc 2)

wow, i haven't even listened to them yet!!!

i hope someone's keeping track of all these..

by the way.... i remember a lot of 'bonus' tracks and 'bonus' cds
that were packaged in the japanese / european [german]/ australian
releases... (some were re-issues)... i remember a japanese
2cd set of 'second toughest in the infants' that had
born slippy (short), pearls girl 14996 and puppies:
http://www.discogs.com/Underworld-Se...release/310969

... also, 'dubnobasswithmyheadman'
had 'why why why' and 'rez' on it :
http://www.discogs.com/Underworld-Du...release/901889

i don't remember anyone complaining (ok, there might have been a few),
that asked why these weren't included, or alternate versions etc..
well, they didn't have enough space...

slightly different issue ... i know these alternate verrsions / demos are
a whole different set ... but there were prototypes made for 'dubnobasswithmyheadman',
and 'beaucoup fish' that didn't make it into the public, and plenty of extra/different mixes
of tracks that were on vinyl only, or compilations that could have been on albums..

ultimately it's not our decision, and never was.. besides the artistic statement,
a lot of it has to do with the business perspective..

what if we never got a 2nd bonus disc of alternate takes, and those were released
on the web only... would we all have the same opinions? or would the same
arguments apply?
