indeed - a good buy for £8....

i just wanted to know the number to see how high they went, i don't know of any really low numbers, but then i've not heard of any numbers above about 2000...so was just wondering how many they issued??

probably 2000 max, but thats a lot for a promo even accounting for the fact that they sent them to every dj and radio station....

hey wait! I've got 3228. ;)
The copy i saw yesterday had IIRC something like 4xxx. (I'm really not sure on this)
So it's not unlikelily that there are around 4000-(5000???) copies of this item.

wow that does seem excessive for a promo item though, considering they gave them away...the exclusive style case although not expensive does incure a cost as does printing a nice 8 page booklet and inner slip sleeve...plus the cost of the CD itself...its not just some shoddy CD-R type promo its a full CD

i wonder if anyone official knows the actual numbers sent out...Steve H is this your department? ;)

Well, i just received mine and its number 0190. :)
Unfortunally the crystal box is broken :( and the ones i have for replacement arent quite the same. They have the rotating parts of the front cover bigger than the ones on the promo. the back cover wont fit the replacing back cover box and i have no intention of triming the back cover of the promo!!!!

my jewelcase was broken as well and i had to do a tiny bit of cutting to fit it in the new case, but now it looks very pretty again :)

hmmm... $62 smackers... Frame - $5, felt cloth - $1, mounting board - $1, dubnobasswithmyheadman CD - $8 - so I think I can make my own for about $15.

sorry -1, I think I'll pass on this one. But it sure is interesting to see what people are selling on eBay these days.

You are correct. I was looking at the Jumbo stickered promo. I don't know how I confused that, guess I didn't notice the TMO single right in the front row. If I'm not mistaken - that KOS promo looks like the one I have - a 2 track JBO promo with Rick's Bungalow mixes - nothing very special. The disc has no info just the title on top - "King Of Snake" - no catalog # on the disc or anything - but a must for the collector I guess. I got mine as part of a LOT I purchased - If you're interested - I'd be willing to trade it.

Re: collectors' corner

right - dug out my cd:

same as the one on discogs

inside the credits read:

produced by QUAZAR
Lyrics SUNFLOWER by Karl Hyde

...

Published by Day-glo Music
except SUNFLOWER Day-glo Music - UNDERWORLD / SHERLOCK HOLMES MUSIC

i think the 12" you have Raj, is the same as mine as it has no credits just QUAZAR Sunflower Moonflower/Starflower on each side

The Confusing the Sun 12" has:

all tracks (i.e. all versions of Confusing the Sun) Written by MG/Hyde
Published by Seven Stars / MCA & Underworld / Sherlock Holmes Music

i also have:QUAZAR - Flightrecorder album

as shown here: http://www.discogs.com/release/37057

and

QUAZAR - Zodiac Trax

as shown here: http://www.discogs.com/release/28232

both of which credit KH & Underworld / Sherlock Holmes Music

(mattval notes: must track down the vinyl versions of these albums)

I dunno, if you look at the "About Me" link for the seller, they seem to have several pairs of boots for sale from different celebs/designers. May well be a legit thing this, to raise money for what is essentially a kosher charity.

no fucking way....these are so dodgy...

do you really think that KH would knock something so piss poor up, even if it was for charity....these are taking the piss...what with the lager cans at the back...

check out the adidas shoes - which also benefitted a charity - why would he do something this bad - they are renown artists - not trash merchants - if this is actually by Underworld - i'll eat my acetate...

The Dark & Long 6 track ep is FAAAAB! I got mine a bit ago from Amazon marketplace. "Thing in a Book" is utterly sublime:)

My copy says 1994 junior recordings ltd
1994 pingo distribution/april records

Seems it was only released in Scandanavia, but feel free to correct me if wrong:cool:

big screen satellite 04-24-2006 02:51 PM

Re: collectors' corner

well - i may have to eat me acetate - as there appears to be loads for sale...but i'm investigating this right now....

they all look dodgy...but it may be real after all....its just the photo and listing look a bit 'basic' for a registered charity auction...and there is also a function in ebay listings to make it known that the auction is for charity...

it does appear a bit basic for such a prestigious charity...but then again it would have been pulled if not legit i suppose...

big screen satellite 04-24-2006 03:01 PM

Re: collectors' corner

owch...this acetate tastes funny...

http://www.nat.org.uk/page/1691

big screen satellite 04-24-2006 03:16 PM

Re: collectors' corner

so i checked them out fully (and now i've made a bid)... and well, as dodgy as they actually look they are kinda neat if they are UW designed...especially if they come with the action man...

so i take it all back about them being piss poor...(its just i expect so much quality from our boys)

it was just the shoddy photo and simplistic listing details that made me initially think these were a piss take...

afterall the listing just says:

Size four, from the singers of born slippy. All proceeds go to the National AIDS trust.

there's no actual authenticity or reason for listing... just a 1 line comment...seemed a bit odd... but as its on the official NAT site... i believe,

but its a bit difficult sellling stuff if you don't advertise well, and your buyers have to check you out before people want to bid

lloyd 04-24-2006 10:37 PM

Re: collectors' corner

I must admit that the ebay site looks bad indeed. If you want to raise money for charity you should a far better job on it. If I would happen on that page while searching for UW stuff at ebay I don't think I would give it a second look. You atleast expect a bill of authenticity like with movie props.
But.. we all know who's gonna win this auction (if there isn't a company or an artcollector we don't know going to snatch it) ;)
Would it be an idea to chip in by paypal, raise this trust some nice amount and let Matt have this piece of art for his (yet to build) underworld museum? Just an idea...

wow that'd be really nice, i'd rather acquire this for a fan rather than it go to some gallery - in fact if i won it i could put it in a case / box or something and tour it round the dirts like the old dirty box, so that everyone gets to own it for a while, well, everyone who chipped in...;)

i know its just an idea...but i wouldn't want this to go to someone not interested in the band, if someone does wanna bid against me then fine, thats not a problem, after all its for charidee, but you know its going to a good home if i win it...its not like i'm gonna sell it on...

anyway i'd rather win it for dirty people, and if some help was forthcoming that would also be nice...

not bad. All of the mixes are from the regular release though, Raj. However, you'd have to buy the UK CD, DVD and 12" to get them all.

I've got the 5-track Japanese issue thats the same except for the missing Atomic Hooligan mix, but this promo and the Japanese issue is the only place to get the London Electricity mix on CD i believe (not counting the other promo with the edited versions on).

Here's a run down of the tracks:

Born Slippy 2003 (PAUL OAKENFOLD MIX) (8:15) CD/12/Jap/Promo-CDR
Born Slippy 2003 (ATOMIC HOOLIGAN MIX) (7:22) CD/12/Promo-CDR
Born Slippy 2003 (RICK'S DOWN AMBIENT MIX) (4:55) DVD/Jap/Promo-CDR
Born Slippy 2003 (LONDON ELEKTRICITY MIX) (8:17) 12/Jap/Promo-CDR
Born Slippy 2003 (RICKS 2003 12" MIX) (7:04) 12/Jap/Promo-CDR
Born Slippy 2003 (PAUL OAKENFOLD EDIT) (3:36) Edit-CDR
