Hi dirts!
I'm running a lot lately and while doing so I'm always listening to my iPod. The last weeks I've used the Nike tracks by SMD and The Crystal Method a lot. And suddenly I thougt why don't use some tracks by your favourite band. I guess it will be pretty unlikely that R&K will produce some music for the Nike+ project, since Karl's dedication to Adidas. So I thought maybe it would be nice to compile te ultimate UW workout mix ourselves. So which tracks do you think would fit in a workout for approx. 45-50 minutes? Yesterday I walked with the Dark & Long single on, which was rather nice. And maybe I'll try the RiverRun tracks in the future, after all they are called RiverRun...
I'm looking forward for your suggestions :)
Cheers,
Matthijs

I believe the correct track to play is "215 Miles". :)
Seriously though, probably any of the tracks from the Dark & Long EP would be great choices. Some other good ones might be "Spikee", "Dogman Go Woof", "Dirty", "Eclipse", and "Bigmouth" (yes, I went for all the long tracks).
On a related note, my co-worker tells me that "Ansum" and "Peach Tree" are great songs for swimming in the ocean.

Nice idea!
Of the three RiverRun EPs, i think "Lovely Broken Thing" is the most upbeat and conducive to running, especially if it's a rainy day!
Thing about making an exercise mix, or any mix for that matter, is pacing...gotta build up at the start, reach some plateaus, drop energy occasionally - it can't all be banging at 140 BPM or the runner/dancer will keel over! Luckily for us, UW has such a broad catalog and various styles, and a lot of epic tracks that evolve over the course of ten minutes or more.
The first four tracks of Beaucoup Fish work well for e when exercising..
"Cups" - starts off mellow, gets crazy 7 or so minutes in...
"Push Upstairs" - nice driving steady tempo.
"Jumbo" - a bit of a breather here
"Shudder/King of Snake" - build it up, tear it down
For peak exertion...
"Leave Home - Underworld mix 1" - just relentless crazy beats!

While there's never a dull moment on that classic boot, i for one haven't the stamina or willpower to exercise for over 2 hours! :p
There have been some wonderful Underworld-only mixes on Craft that would be great to run around to. I think every Dirt will have their favorite tracks and there are an almost-infinite number of possible combinations for the mix.... Why not just load your iPod/mp3 player with UW, hit Shuffle or Play All...you can't go wrong! ;)

Thanks for the input!

That's why shuffle could on the one hand be a killer or on the other hand a nice mix to run by :)
At the moment I'm figuring out what would make the ultimate mix, but as you've mentioned UW has such a broad catalogue. But for now I'm using some Peggy Sussed near the end and also some 215 Miles en Dark Train. The repetitiveness of those tracks is really great while running.
Now I'm thinking about this I maybe try the Emerson mix from the BF-promo discs when I'm doing a longer workout, could be nice :)
On a side note: the last Lindstrøm album has proven itself a nice running tool as well.
