"Get on your boots" was released today. Glad u2 got smart and moved to the 2000's and released the single to Itunes rather than only to "radio" where it would have been bootlegged.

thoughts about the song?

Not bad on the first listen. 7/10. I thought it was Muse singing the chorus though.

Only in certain regions. It's not on the Aus itunes yet, for instance.

It's also on Amazon's MP3 Download store if you want to avoid iTunes. Agreed with the above about the bassline. That's my favorite part. Hopefully, there is more like this on the rest of the album.

so what's the verdict? i'm leaning towards the re-tread attitude. Fast Cars mixed with Vertigo part deux.

I think it's pretty good. Like spacejunk I'd probably give it a 7/10. It's got me intrigued as to what the album might sound like and actually looking forward to it's release.

It may be nostalgia talking, but I really love the Achtung Baby/Zooropa/Pop album trio and I would love for U2 to get back into that space again. I still don't get tired of listening to Zooropa, can still vividly remember the first time I heard it back at the tender age of 13. :) *goes back to hiding in the U2 fan closet*

Ditto Bargo! Yes it does remind me of Fast Cars and in the UK we cant get this on iTunes yet.
I have a feeling the Album will be alot different from the single.
Nothing was really like Vertigo on HTDAAB. They said it has a Trance like feel whatever that is.Probaly not dance music but i am getting the impression it could be on the same path as Achtung Baby but Rockier.
But no doubt i am a million miles out.

Like you, i too prefer my U2 somewhat danceable. Achtung Baby and Zooropa are my favorites. Parts of Pop seem forced to me, but i'll still take it over the dreck of ATYCLB and HTDAAB.

I've only heard part of the new track - nothing groundbreaking, but like "Vertigo", it is a punchy way to generate "excitement" about new U2.
