Looking forward to this, as always - but the Christmastime winter shows have always been extra-awesome for some reason...
UWLive diary the other day mentioned Rick digging out old gems - could this mean rarely performed UW tracks or maybe some classic dance numbers from other artists?? In the case of the former, i wouldn't mind at all hearing a little live "River of Bass" or "Stagger" for example :o
River Of Bass would be amazing!
That was on on my walkman constantly when I was at college!
Would love to hear Winjer with a live vocal.

Stuff played in the past hour included ambient versions of:
Faxed Invitation
Best Mamgu Ever (prob. the highlight up to this point)
Lenne Penne
The lion's share of the show has been ambient interludes. If thats your thing, then you'll be in heaven.

I'm loving it...and I hope they continue in this direction if they make a new album. There are so many samey ambient albums out there, I really think Underworld bring something new and fresh to the genre.
Then again, the dirty beats are what got me into UW in the first place.

Well, they played a bit of the "Stagger" a capella during Biro the Leggy... does that count?
In addition, that webcast was MASSIVE. Good from start to finish.
And now, here's CHAMPI SESSLER with your live coverage!
Also in-depth analysis.
Karl and Rick were joined by Danielle, some crew from Bungalow with Stairs, and Darren ("But which one?" as they put it). The show began a bit slow with, as previously stated, little more than some "ambient interludes" and exotic tracks. Then it picked up with Lenny Penne, followed by interesting interpretations of some OWB and HDO classics, and some B-Sides to boot. About 95% of the material seemed to be heavily remixed or entirely new UW stuff, and I'm very excited as one of the few answers they gave that wasn't "yes" to a question said that in the coming days those new tracks will be getting a lot of coverage (which leaves the possibility of a new RiverRun open despite no explicit announcements).
Some Interesting Inclusions:
-Lenny Penne (AWESOME Remix)
-Best Mamgu Ever (semi-acoustic)
-Faxed Invitation (made much more upbeat)
-Puppies (megapsychedelic version)
-Howling opretta voices from 2001: A Space Odyssey
-Trim (They make it much larger and more expansive live)
-Biro The Leggy (With Stagger Vocals)
-Some M.I.A. cover whose name escapes me
-Tiny snippet of Cowgirl (Winjer Mix)
-A closing track that sounded like an Alternative Rock version of You Do Scribble, but probably isn't.
-LOTS OF NEW MATERIAL
And fun fact: their next show will land squarely on my birthday! What a present!

I, for one, thought that this show was absolutely brilliant. Really nice to hear them focusing on a whole show of stuff like this as opposed to banging it out for a while. I really loved the flow that the show had, especially how they worked on blending each track into the next, rather than just a carefully-planned crossfade.
Miles better than the previous shows this year, and I'm very, very pumped to listen to it again over the next couple of days/weeks.

I found myself zoning out for most of it. :|
I still love the boys, and think its great that they continue to explore new sounds, but as for ambient -- I just don't get it. A track or two here and there sure, but after 2 hours its totally lost on me.
Mamgu was great! Faxed Invitation was missing something and Trim felt too shy. Back in the Fears felt timid as well. Missed the punch which comes during/after "their happiness is medicine..." which to me, is the payoff of that lovely track.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE when they improvise and mix their tracks up but this for me wasn't it. I'm glad you all enjoyed it though!

-"Are You Rockstar?"
-"Longing For What/The Surrealist Object" (A suite, perhaps?)

-"Moon In Water" (my guess for the "Mrs. Hawking" track)
-"Bennets World Template"
-"Radio Vox"
-"Binari C"
-"Richard Burton"
-"Geezer"
-"Mr. Bambi Rocks" (Might be the Puppies mix, apparently)
Regardless, this was a great show. Can't wait to see some of these songs in concert!

I've almost made it through the show in my usual fashion. I just have the non-Underworld group of tracks at the end to go.
"Puppies" simply isn't on the tracklist. "Mr. Bambi Rocks" is the Sunshine-based track. The UW/Eno Jam starts at 59:22 and runs till 1:03:00. I'm going to assume "Leggy" is a typo or mis-read for "Lenny", since there are several other mistakes in the tracklisting.

If you purchase the PRO version of Quicktime, does it give you the option to 'Save' the Webcast on www.uwlive.com?
Also, why don't they just post mp3 links to the show like every other normal webcast on the net.....it's almost like they don't want people to hear it or something. Why go through all of the trouble to make it super fucking frustrating for fans of their music to have to resort to analog re-recording, cumbersome snobby "secret" email lists, or only "listening again"?

mmm fuck off :p
it's not secret at all, it's just organized trading, feel free to post the files here if you want, rtsr is there to keep those recording archived, sorted for the fans as an alternative backup.
if underworld wanted to have the file as download from their site they would do so, like the listen again feature on the bbc site the idea is to bring listeners back to the site to check the other content as well, you want a recording, well just press record on your tape deck or find a friend with the recording, you'll get to talk to other peoples and make some effort to get the music your already getting for free.

You joined october 21th and were accepted either that day or close to it. There isn't a confirmation email or msg. If you would have tested the system you would have noticed that you are a member, but you are either to lazy or aren't interested enough I guess. Nothing the mods could help with.
The mods try to keep up, there was 1 person awaiting approval today, not as you state 'a backlog' suggesting that are 100's of people waiting. You never contacted one of us mods. Nope, right away complaining without any knowledge.

Hi - i recorded the stream from UWLive with some freeware recorder, and it's fine - just a little quiet in terms of volume (until the last hour of tracks) and at 3.5 hours, it's a big file, even at 128 kps mp3.
I'll work on splitting it into individual tracks and try to post it here soon if it doesn't already appear here or on RTSR.
If you can't wait, DL this freeware
