Hmm, it's been a long while since I read Catcher in the Rye, so the themes are faint to me, but I've been hooked on Y: The Last Man by Brian K. Vaughan/Pia Guerra (graphic novel series), Strangers in Paradise by Terry Moore (graphic novel series; I'd recommend the pocket books if you can find them) for the past week, so those are my recommendations.

Try Vernon God Little, by DBC Pierre (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0571215165/qid=1125933398/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl/026-7750672-3291629) It's quite a lot like Catcher in the Rye.

Just finished "Flowers for Algernon (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0553274503/qid=1125998507/sr=8-2/ref=pd_bbs_2/103-7495467-7296624?v=glance&s=books&n=507846)" the other week.

And read "Rocket Dreams (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0743233433/qid=1125998516/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_1/103-7495467-7296624?v=glance&s=books&n=507846)" this week.

Very different - but both v. interesting and made me think.

I like Blueberad by Kurt Vonnegut. But you really need to read Breakfast of Champions first as Bluebeard is the life story of one of the characters in BOC.
