Right. I've asked everywhere for this thing and it simply remains outside my grasp.

Can anyone give me a push in the right direction to obtain the Bootleg Babies?

I am fully aware that this is against the rules and that the board of trade is supposedly the place to get it but I can't find any way to find it at .rowla.

Any website, blog, torrent, rapidshare, mp3 links would be eternally appreciated.

Trust me mate I've tried every single search thread I can find.

rapidshares, mp3s, torrents, blogs, forums, rstr, p2p. g2p and google has yielded nothing. If anyone could take the time to upload it, I would be eternally grateful. Plus, I really want to hear the KOS. Everything Everything's KOS was the best dance song i've ever heard.

I think it's OK to post this here.
Bootleg Babies was hosted on dirty.org, for anybody to download. I remember listening to this for the first time about four years ago, while reading Garfield comics. My life changed.

intro.
"bootleg babies" was a project the fan of underworld on the rtsr-trade mailing list did last year, "We wanted to make a mix with the best tracks from Underworld bootlegs we had gathered over the years, a bit like Underworld did with Everything, Everything. It keep the list busy for a while since all the track where choosen with extensive polls on the list. The member choose the track that would be included, from wich source, the name of the cd and the artwork. Geoff mixed the whole thing so well it's hard to believe this is coming from 7-8 different bootlegs ranging from various quality. We distributed the cd from fan to fan around the world I think a good 150 copies where made of it, so for all you who couldn't get it last year you can now enjoy it. I hope you will enjoy those files" -Yannick Joubert

about.
these days, we are constantly bombarded with digital information. it passes through our skin 24hrs a day and we dont even twitch. its amazing we havn't all gone crazy yet. but there are huge bundles of zeroes and ones out there that when added together equal something far beyond the cold calculated technology of our world. that something is the music of underworld. that something is organic in that it has given birth to communities with members numbering in the thousands. they are organic as well. alive. teeming with ideas and action and feeling. and even though we can't really visualize how big it actually is it all boils to down to us. sitting in front of our computers. at work at home on the road dreaming and listening it was during one of those moments that the idea for this project first came up. me at a desk in a large space with large windows not streching my legs enough. almost bored to tears but feeling happy because you were all out there with me and we listened together. and together we came up with the idea to order those zeroes and ones our own way to pay homage and to celebrate and to make it all the more interesting

There is also a lossless version. It's on the RTSR tracker and on dime. It has a skip in Born Slippy .NUXX, though.

Actually, the one on RTSR doesn't. I got the original source from geoff last year after meeting him at the Boston gig (hi geoff!) and posted a clean version on the tracker. The skip was actually in Disc 1, Track 8, Outro.

i anticipate a knockdown, grueling vote process for the second one with anticipation.

i should get a copy of the first one again if the flac or a clean copy is around. i only have the copies sent to me initially from the tree, and it's got the two second gaps in it. i edited them out eventually but it's not *quite* there...

 I never caught that one before. I only got the fixed one for that Outro, so I'll have to e-mail Geoff again.

It's really funny,
I tried google search a few minutes ago with "bootleg babies" and the 7th result I got was a working megaupload link for bootleg babies.rar (172.9 MB)!!

Maybe my googling skills aren't as honed as I would've liked. And it sounds fantastic. everything I wanted and more.

Yes, I agree, there should be a second one.

Did any other bands have a fanmade project like this one done?

For fanmade live compilations, Nine Inch Nails has had:

Everything Everything's KOS was the best dance song i've ever heard.

I noticed that myself last night, which kind of states how good Underworld really is if they can outdo the artists who make records strictly to dance to.

i'll just leave this here...

spoonman (misterons) --> 5ft5 (amsterdam05) --> rowla (belfort98) --> twist (ilovetechno02) --> confusion (electraglide2000) --> pearls girl (benicassim05) --> momove (amsterdam02) --> KOS (ireland02) --> you do scribble (bulgaria05)

just a brainstorm at 2am. also planned to fit in the improv and BSNuxx from ireland02 as well, alternate-kos w/ moaner lyrics from london99, and air towel from misterons.
and in a world where everything can be fixed to sound prfect: Push Upstairs - Spikee/Leave Home - Cappe Ffuno wondermelee from pukkelpop2000

this is prolly nuffin but the dust from which better things are made, but ball rolled?

- because he obviously didn't do shit to get what he want
- because he's fully aware of this, and also that he shouldn't be asking here.

I just googled bootleg babies and couldn't find any hints other than to go to rtsr

- because he's fully aware of this, and also that he shouldn't be asking here.
why shouldn't he be asking here? lord knows there has been enough discussion lately about bootleg babies. my understanding is that the "don't talk about rtsr" business was something that developed over time without any sound foundation, and as such there is nothing to stop people talking about rtsr stuff here at all. in fact, you may recall that when Yan took over the forums he did a new design for a while that included a whole forum for rtsr on its own. just because rtsr exists doesn't mean that nobody can ever talk about anything related to it on here, does it?

rtsr is by no means a secret place, it's good to tell people that it exists and it's out and about. only that so often it's mentioned in a wink-wink-nudge way because the topic is about bootlegs, and while everything seems to be a-ok about it, even if recording and distributing live gigs isnt the most sanctioned activity out there, it seems rather gauche to flaunt it and take it for granted and just advertise the place solely as a bootleg hub when its not.
so yeah, people will put it in weird lettering like this example right here, just as a way of saying "yes you can get it here, but it's not really supposed to be bootleg emporium, just another great underworld community."
talk of trading bootlegs and other underworld material in this forum (the official unofficial) that wasnt expressly handed out to us is, however, off the mark, due to the nature of a live recording being a "bootleg," which makes for the crypiticism about even suggesting where you can get them.

bootleg babies, however, is an exception. not only was it solely an rtsr project culled from many bootlegs, but it was massive fan project with tons of input, voting, and gnashing of teeth (i was there at the tail end of it, having finally found my way around to joining both dirty and rtsr). it's a great labor of love and everything about it, down to the artwork, essays, and formatting, turned out spectacularly due to everyone involved. so yeah, at least i'd say that BootlegBabies talk is pretty fine for any underworld community. It makes no sense to keep that peice of awesome in the dark.

so, simply: no, rtsr is not supposed to be a secret.

-1there were yearly Orbital remix competitons back in the early millennium when Orbital were still around and the forums were on ezboard. You may have more luck in asking on the loopzorbital.com forums. I have some of the fan remixes. One of the fan remixes actually made it out as an official release and a few were truly mindblowing and remarkably different to the originals.

so, simply: no, rtsr is not supposed to be a secret.RTSR is not a secret :) Its just the place where the live bootleg trading and distribution goes on. Plus rather anal discussions on live gigs and tracklistings and things. The rest of the Underworld discussion goes on here, but there are a dedicated few out there (myself included) who either are or have in the past put in a lot of effort into making sure that the Underworld community gets their hands on live shows for free. If you google for rtsr and click "im feeling lucky" then you'll get the link to the yahoo group. its that easy.
