that's jacob and owen. they're a few weeks premature so owen's getting a little help in the breathing department but the nose tube looks worse than it is.

Congratulations! Owen looks like a future astronaut, Jacob seems more old skool (maybe sporting an afro whilst listening to retro hip-hop, sometime around 14 yrs?).

giving biiiiiiirth
having baaaaaaaaaabies
dude giving birth sounds like a sweet deal. you get hella breaks and all you have to do is produce a human being. it's like the most bomb magic trick ever. in fact, i'm going to show up to work all radiant and expecting child, and when showtime comes i'm gonna get all criss-angel-mindfreak up in that fuckin hospital and out come twins for no goddamn reason. it's like two arnold schwartzenegger movies in one. fuckin' boss.
...
why does that kid look like an astronaut?
congratulations :)
Congratulations! A good friend of mine at work had twins seven months ago. Like her, you're going to have muscular biceps from carrying them around as they get bigger that you can use towards being a badass...

Congratulations, Mum! Every day will be like Christmas Day from now on, believe me. (well, at least until they are old enough to start dissing you and arguing and cursing and leaving their rooms in a tip... ;) )
Seriously, though, having kids is the most amazing thing in the world and I am getting all broody now. Very best wishes to all 4 of you.
OK - I get to ask all the "women's" questions:
What time were they born?
What weight were they?
How long will they be in hospital?
How are you doing?
Hugs

i would pay top box office dollar to see you go through an actual 9 month gestation process with twins, so good idea.

owen looks like an astronaut in that photo because they were born a little early (33 weeks) and he needed a cpap to help put some positive air flow on his lungs and encourage him to breathe. not even 24 hours later the cpap was removed and both boys are breathing beautifully on their own.
What time were they born?
What weight were they?

jacob was born at 9:04 a.m. and owen was born at 9:05. c-section, of course. jacob was 4 lbs 5 oz and owen was 3 lbs 15 oz. they will be in thie hospital probably between 3-6 weeks depending on their progress. being so little they just don't have the fat reserves to help them regulate their own temperatures and the muscles that would allow them to nurse aren't quite strong enough yet. they're improving dramatically so we may end up closer to the 3 week mark than the 6 week mark. i am doing okay, although it was incredibly rough not to be able to hold them right away. when they're that little they whisk them away from you and you don't get to see them or hold them immediately. letting the hours tick by while you wait to see your babies is an incredibly difficult thing to do. plus there's the agony of major abdominal surgery but i'm a tough gal, i'm getting through it.

It sounds like your boys already have their mom's impeccable taste. Many blessings from Phoenix to you and the family.

today my husband edited together a video of footage from their first week on earth. he did it on his own without any suggestions from me. what music did he choose to put behind the video? "to heal." he said he couldn't imagine any other piece of music being more "right."
i knew i married the right man.
