this project is clearly outside of the musicians obligations as performers and songwriters and their participation in this project is irresponsible and detrimental to the interests of china. it is unfortunate that they choose to voice propoganda concerning that which is none of their business and are ignorant of. china is merely trying to protect what's theirs.

Am I right in thinking that it is someone in UW's management (Mike G maybe?) who has a strong connection with Buddhism, cos I asked the question during one of the radio shows and I seem to remember Karl saying it was someone in The Management. There used to be a link to a Tibetan Buddhist website on the old UW page.

Not sure about anyone's specific connection to Buddhism, but the band has supported and promoted the Meridian Trust (http://www.meridian-trust.org/) for a long time. There's a link to it on their website:

As mentioned in the press releases for this Songs for Tibet album, "The Art of Peace Foundation also works with their UK partner, Meridian Trust, to preserve Tibetan cultural traditions," so perhaps that's how Underworld came to be involved in this project.

yeah, i guess its private, I heard rumor of a private event on the 7th, but of course its not on the site and its prob after regular hours at the gallery.

Talked to the gallery, and the release party is on Thursday, but it is a private function, invitation-only. That's when Karl and/or Rick will be there, and I assume it will be after the gallery closes.

Edit: Found this picture of the invitation. Reception from 5-10 PM. RSVP Invitation only though. Interesting that it says it's a "CD/DVD" release.

Songs for Tibet is now available on the iTunes Store worldwide. You can purchase "To Heal (And Restore Broken Bodies)" separately for US$0.99, £0.79, ¥150, etc.

The song is 256 Kbps DRM-free AAC. The physical CD release will happen next week, Aug. 12. It will also be available as 256 Kbps MP3 on Amazon MP3 (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001DQ4920), but not until Aug. 12.

you know, its at times like this that i kick myself
for being so private......(no contact info , no description)

basically, i'm invisible, and always have been....[i guess
i like it that way]...

if you had shown up earlier in the day, you would have
met karl, their manager etc...(or maybe you did)...and
they would have hooked you up...

seriously, i don't want to make anyone feel bad, but
the tomato people were amazing, PR-wise, fan-wise,
etc.....they hooked up everyone with all you could
want, without even asking....i just mentioned i was
a dirtyboard member, and longtime fan, and that was
all it took..... 5 ***** star treatment..... i'm pretty
sure they could have set you up ..

darn it, i had extra passes, etc.. and would have
liked to have someone to talk too....i don't mingle
much, and since this was also a release party for
the 'peace for tibet' , most people there didn't know
underworld, the band members, or what any of the
artwork was about.....i don't want to be condescending,
or critique them too much (the other people), but seriously
this was a great way to get access to band, etc...it was
a very personal, and family oriented gathering....i'll post
more, but i don't really want to cross the line of personal
privacy, and information from the band and other members....
[and once again, *NO* i'm not a select member of that group,
just a fan, that happened to be at the right/time place]....

I was at work all day, so as soon as I left at five, I hurried via foot and subway to the gallery and they were saying the gallery turned private at 5 instead of 6. i was hoping for a quick browse through and maybe to meet anyone in the band or tomato before the art of peace thing went on. i didnt want to press it, but ah well..

well, i am going to apw, and might swing by the gallery again on the 11th if karl or anyone is there. but will see the gallery for sure sometime otherwise. leaving work soon so wont be online. enjoy the weekend.
