new version -vocal effect.
Really? I think this ruins the lovely lyrics. The flange or chorus effect is at such a high frequency that many of the words are deemed indeciperable. Not that this is a new t hing for UW, but i can do without the chipmonk voice effect that sometimes results. The corolary of this is a track like "Puppies", where the detuning down a couple octaves makes Karl sound scary-deep bassy, rather than Telematic Peel, where the detuning shifts it up, almost like there's a female backing vocal.
So, the old for the simpler vocals, i guess i like the new beats and analog synthline.
= new version minus vocal effect
;)

Upon first listen I instantly favored the old. The new though has a certain charm to it and its grown on me considerably.
EP quality. Lets get em both!

I've been listening to this a lot lately and think it's a really choice track. I like very much where it's heading and think it has some truly beautiful moments. I like the vocal effect much more now then on first listen, but it may go a bit overboard on the warping effects. Overall though, truly great. keep going.

Just bringing this up again...
I was having a bit of a listen and a read in the Audio section, something i do quite often and i came across the piece Rick had written about getting out the old Soundcraft mixer and getting an old fashioned mix together... he seemed so passionate about it all
"The first couple of times it actually made me cry."
and its a little frustrating when it finishes like this...
"i want to write more about this but I'm running out of time (off to Bucharest in an hour), so got to stop for now. But.....
....to be continued."
so?.... any chance of getting a little bit more about Ricks thoughts on Analogue and digital mixing - software versus hardware? Or perhaps just a little more on how it felt to work on this track and all that... ???
The audio section i think is one of the best parts of UWLive.com - not just for the music but for the real in depth and interesting writing that accompanies the music.
So anything else to add Rick?

Why I think a new album will be better then OWB, the return of hardware and less software.
