I grabbed Lou Rhode's acapella track "Deep" from her album "Beloved One", and worked it into a new dub mix that you can hear on my Myspace page (http://www.myspace.com/grandbrother), or download as a free 320kbps mp3 here:

For anyone who's unfamiliar with Lou Rhodes, she was the singer in the group Lamb until they broke up a couple years back. One of my all-time favorite groups. What a gorgeous voice to be able to work with....:)

Enjoy!

OK Sean, are playing me or what?

I've only been able to download one so far. And I need all the free I can get at the moment.

Here are links to everything I have up at the moment:

Polyester & Frashchuckdaily - Whatever You Do (Grandbrother Does Something Mix) (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?zuunwnxwkmi) This was on the dirty forum compilation from a couple summers ago, but this is a re-mastered, slightly tweaked version of it that sounds way better. Polyester & Freshhuckdaily are a couple guys who record out of Long Beach California.

Peter Gabriel - Shock The Monkey (The Grandbrother Remix) (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?4hx21mlcnrz) Done for a remix contest Peter Gabriel was having. I lost.

James Hellican - Hatches (The Grandbrother Remix) (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?nwht3ylt2zw) This one was done for pure collaborative fun with a musician I met through Myspace.

Dntel - Dumb Luck (The Grandbrother Remix) (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?yylhzbgef3b) Done for a remix contest. Again, I lost.

Grandbrother - Midnight Dub featuring Janie H. (aka our very own Beautiful Burnout) (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?gmbo32yaldn) For the recent dirty compilation "Dreamgirl..." (http://www.darksounds.org/)

Lou Rhodes - Deep (Grandbrother's Lullaby Dub) (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?jzwz3bygmn3) Just finished a week or so ago, done purely for fun. UPDATED MP3 FILE WITH NEW ARTWORK ATTACHED

R.O.C. - I Want You I Need You I Miss You (The Grandbrother Version) (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?j1xtlgnjjy1) I've been a fan of R.O.C. for ten years, and was thrilled to be invited by them to do a remix of one of their tracks. This is the one I chose. UPDATED MP3 FILE WITH NEW ARTWORK ATTACHED

Underworld - Play Pig (Grandbrother's Thin Skin Mix) (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?tsl1qy5rnbz) Done for fun.

Meat Beat Manifesto - She's Unreal (Grandbrother's Tension Remix) (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?k1nn2rd3nzt) Done for an online MBM fan remix project like 6 years ago.

Brevi - These Days (Grandbrother's Last Call Mix) (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?icgmyjodyx9) Got the vocals for this from a music engineer I met who was working with this singer/rapper, and did this mix for fun.

Los De Abajo - Resistencia (Grandbrother's Dub Mix) (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?mwjoe0d2myt) Done for the Real World Remixed web site.

I have another new remix I'm just finishing up for a musician I met through the whole Julie Dennis remixing experience. I'll post it once it's done. It has saxaphone in it. And if you go on itunes US or UK, and look up "Julie Dennis", you'll see a Grandbrother remix of "Cut To The Chase" available. In itunes UK, you'll also see a Grandbrother remix of "Fever".

I've updated two of the mp3 files listed above so that they now have cover art attached. Go on and get 'em, or replace your old files if you already have them.

Enjoy!

Sean... Great work. I love all your remixes and that's a rare thing. You take the songs and make them unique and add your own vibe which is a hard thing to do. I love them.

(Culver City...)Wow...thanks Jon. Great to know I finally have a fan! ;)

But yeah, "remix" is almost an inappropriate term to be using these days since it seems that recent remixes out there tend to basically be entirely new tracks. When given the opportunity, I'll even avoid getting at all familiar with the original version of a track I'm remixing so that I can go into it without any preconceived notions about how it should sound.

Anyway, thanks again Jon. I really appreciate the kind words.
