Just saw this on Lloyd's blog: http://trafficjpn.com/underworld/news.html (sort of a translation here: http://kwiebusch.blogspot.com/2008/05/parc-at-j-wave.html)
A new song named "Parc", eh? Doesn't that look suspiciously like "Darc"?

Although I haven't listened it on J-WAVE radio, I also doubt it might be "darc.". Japanese failed to read a scribbled title? :)

I e-mailed J-WAVE to ask the title of it. I will tell you If I get a reply.

The real question should be, is someone going to record this?

there's something about a special jingle that underworld did for this. looks by the date that is over now.
I've been all over that j-wave site but can't find more.
Playlist was updated and now only shows songs played after 5am .jp time.
I think it was played during 'groove line' (19:31 .jp time) which gets podcasted some days of the week and spread via Itunes.

Some of the important bits were missed in the machine translation I think :) From what it says on the page, it's an entirely new song specially made for J-WAVE.
A quick and not quite so dirty (mmm) translation of
http://trafficjpn.com/underworld/news.html:
-----
Underworld's new song "Parc" picked as J-WAVE's 20th anniversary song! On-air from 7th of May!!
To celebrate J-WAVE's historic 20th year since beginning broadcast, Underworld's new track "Parc" has been picked as the "20th J-WAVE Anniversary Song"!
This song was produced as a present from Underworld, and from the 7th of May will be broadcast on the J-WAVE program in a world first.
Underworld have been chosen as a FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL '08 (Sat 26th/Jul) headlining act. It's still 3 months until then, but until then the Japanese fans will receive this special present. Please tune in to enjoy!!

I saw Parc in their playlist earlier, but I can't read Japanese so I didn't know what the hell was going on. Can you "listen again" to their radio shows? Is this a cd or a show... I'm so confused.
And if Darc is renamed Parc... eesh

So, after spending a whole lot of time on the J-Wave sites, I've determined the following:
1. J-Wave does not have a live internet stream
2. The podcasts are not going to be any help (try downloading one of them).
3. Parc was played at 11:55 and 19:31 on 5/7, and at 8:42 on 5/8.
4. Parc is about 7-8 minutes long.
5. It most likely will be played a few more times over the next few days.
6. I would really like to hear Parc.
Unfortunately, it looks like the only way we'll hear it is if someone in Tokyo records the radio for 24 hours, and extracts it based on the song list.

Fortunately, I recorded Parc(Darc) on J-wave in this morning.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=BTNEFVC0
I felt that this resembled a recording source at heineken music hall 2005's.
And I think that this is "Darc" so that everybody writes it.
If the letter which Karl wrote was a scribble, and the person who read the title may have misread D →P.

That's the site. It's all gone.

It was all there in the fall 2007, when I went to check to see if Bamboo was on the list. I went back this spring to write down all the unreleased titles for the wiki, and it was all gone. No one seems to have written them down.
The list was only current up through 2004-2005-ish anyway. It seems to have been from when they were on V2, but since they are no longer . . .

Sounds lovely. Minus the talking;)

Good job, Chino. Bad handwriting, ftl. Why did that DJ have to talk over the whole last half of it?
OK, so it is Darc. And it is from Amsterdam 2005. Kind of. It doesn't have the audience noise mixed in. And, it's had more percussion added to it, starting at the 1:27 mark of Chino's file, which corresponds to 3:13 of the Darc download from the old Archive.
Kinda weird. It's almost as if Darc's never been laid down properly in the studio. For example, with Bamboo, although it had live performances, we heard proper studio versions in the Music Bank Jam, and more recently on the radio broadcasts. But for Darc, on the Southampton broadcast, we just got the live Amsterdam performance again. And then here, we get a tweaked version of the live Amsterdam performance.
Edit: And it was just played again 5 minutes ago. 20:33 japan time.
Edit 2: Nice to see more Japanese fans on the board. Welcome! :D

A little bit disappointing in a way, I was hoping for a new song, or at least a significantly different mix of darc :|

thnx.
Yeah the podcast are only overviews of the programs from what I can tell, 18 mins long for groove line etc. But that was what I could find as possible source.
Thanks for the recording!
I wouldn't be surprised if they reused the vocals and the guitar from the Amsterdam performance for the "studio" version, because that live version was absolutely flawless... Also, I think that's what the RiverRun is all about, music "straight from the mixing desk" and developed live.
Or they were just too lazy to put a proper version together for J-Wave and are using the Amsterdam vocals as 'placeholder'.

Globe from Sofia is also a beautiful performance that really makes me sad for what Holding The Moth turned into. On the one hand, we already have a great recording of Darc (and Globe) so i'm not sure we need a "studio" version, especially if taking it to the studio results in a loss of atmosphere and groove ala Globe-->Holding The Moth.

thanks, Chino is nagano....nice first post!
Well, yeah, it's always lovely to hear "Darc", but it would be magical to hear a clean studio version. Maybe forthcoming? Otherwise, why the sudden heavy play on J-Radio? i get the feeling this will be on Japanese iTunes or something.
Re: Globe--> Holding the Moth. Agree that the former was a bit smoother, and the OWB version is a bit "Cups'-ish, i still love those lyrics, so no harm done in my mind.

Globe > Holding the Moth
So Parc is Darc. Or maybe Darc is Parc? Either way, this is one I'd love a clean recording of.

yes, that amasterdam recording (formerly addressed as "HMH #1") was indeed the "darc" we were talking about. thanks so much for the recording! international dirty-network FTW!

Pushy signatures unite!
This is strange... it is clearly Karl's singing and guitar from Amsterdam, but a few things are different, and they somehow cut out the audience noise. I hope this isn't the end-all release of Darc, because the Atlanta version is way better.
And what's with the horrible DJ? Everybody knows you don't talk over a singer. Maybe they do things differently (and more annoyingly) in Japan.
TheBang

and they somehow cut out the audience noise.
When dealing with live soundboard recordings, they almost always have a separate mic specifically to record audience noise, and then it is mixed in at appropriate levels with the soundboard feed in post-production.
Maybe they do things differently (and more annoyingly) in Japan.
Things are definitely done differently in Japan.

I just got ahold of a high-quality version of this and holy crap, it's AMAZING. The guitar along with Karl's voice is blissful. It sounds like a great track to cruise around at night.
