*NOTE: of course statistics don't tell the whole picture,

** NOTE : of course, i'm sure once we get to the

will be highly skewed..

It opened Rotterdam, and was also played at Roundhouse 3. Oh, and if we're talking since the hospital, it was played at all 3 Japan shows.
cant believe they played TMO all 18 gigs.
Well, it's the centerpiece of the Inflatables segment, so yeah, it's been played at every show in 2007 and 2008.

i agree. i think TMO should be cut off at the break in the middle. it's pointless during the concert to come back into the track after that breakdown. i wish TMO would segue into something else out of that break.

The way I feel about TMO is that it can drag on if you listen to a recording. But when you're actually there it's a totally different story. I mean, I'm not even a huge fan of the album track, but I go mental for it when it's live.

Did any other songs get this, or the opposite treatment?
TheBang

Well, in late 2007 there were some complaints on this board about how the setlists and selection of songs were becoming rather predictable and were kind of a Greatest Hits type show. In response, Underworld dusted off the archives and rarities and performed them on the Underworld vs. The Misterons radio show (read that thread for more info).
That appears to have a proving ground for the 2008 live shows, as many of the songs performed there made their way into regular rotation, most notably Spoonman and Cherry Pie. To a lesser extent Born Slippy, Peach Tree, Oich Oich, and Little Speaker also began making appearances. They've also pulled out some other rarities too like Confusion the Waitress, Darc, Banstyle, etc.
As you can see from -1's stats, some of the mainstays from 2007 got kicked down to make room for the new songs. Jumbo got kicked out of encore spot for every show. Rez/Cowgirl is played less. Moaner is played less. This isn't reflected in the stats, but if you listen to the recordings, NUXX is being shortened up in 2008, having 3-4 minutes chopped off either the front or the end, to make more time for other songs.
All in all, I think it's been a good adjustment for the 2008 shows. Each show gets at least 2-3 rare songs for the die-hards, and the setlist orders are much less predictable. Casual fans still get to hear NUXX and other hits like Two Months Off.

I remember those discussions. I guess didn't realize Underworld was actively addressing it. I loved the vs. Misterons Live Jam along with everyone else. It is great to see Underworld listening to us and trying to please as many fans a possible.

I forgot to mention that with all the festival shows coming up, I'd imagine those shows will go back to more of a greatest hits format, like we saw at Ultra Music Festival, due to the shorter show times and the broader crowds.

Naa, i think some fan response did change the sets a little bit. There was a lovely bitching on thread about how bored people saw the sets and the lack of mixing/improvs between sets, especially in 07 compared to ten years ago. I think the Misterons mix popped up randomly and it wasn't a normal radio show at all. No talking at all hardly, just a big mix with some rare things shoved in, such as Cherry Pie, Peach Tree, Spoonman, Oich Oich. All songs that have pretty much made an appearance in this years set. We know that UW read this forum so, im sure our suggestions would only help them a little. Would it piss them off? No, not really i think, anything to get a crowd going seems to get them going more.

funny thing is,i saw them twice last year, and wasn't impressed at
all (had seen them 4 times before that), and i actually started a
thread with a complaint about their live sets being plain.!!!!!!
i know they went through the same phase/problems on
the 2nd beaucoup fish tour, and most of the adho tour..
although the incredible tours that went on through the riverrun
series, (which i missed), were probably the turning point..

Whats hard to believe? For a stretch (and before the multitude of posts regarding stagnant setlists) everything was predictable. After a good number of posts questioning why every show had to be the same, the shows changed. Does this HAVE to be the reason? No, no it doesn't. But is there a good chance that the posts factored in? Of course.
This current tour (pre cancelled shows) was heading right down the predictability route. Thats when all the threads started popping up and the eventual change happened. This recent leg, starting after the cancelled Roundhouse show has had me guessing with each song. NUXX in the 3-slot? Darc? Cherry Pie? Juanita? Its so unpredictable right now and that makes for some good live fun!

It isn't hard to believe at ALL. In fact, I think it's hard not to believe that these forums have had an impact on Underworld's shows. Think of all the different requests they've fulfilled from the members here... Karl has commented on forum posts several times. They are very aware of our discussions.

i agree that this forum does have some impact,
and that they look at it and read it (and even reply sometimes)
but to go from having a tour, fixed setlists, etc...and to
a more freeform style, playing 'requests', etc....i guess
i'll have to go see them again to believe it..
(and i did think about going to atlanta, but didn't!!)
maybe its sour grapes/cynicism on my part..

Just read the setlist to Atlanta, HMH, and a few others and you'll quickly realize that there is very little overlap outside the 6 staples. Even the segues are quite distinct; the NUXX intro was ridiculously awesome and I've yet to hear that version or the HMH version of NUXX since.

Let this put to rest any doubt that they take feedback from our forums. Thanks to holden for finding this interview with Karl, conducted on Mar. 27, which has this germane nugget:
VF: What can people expect from your live show this year?
KH: “It will, as ever, be very improvised. The visuals, the lights, everything is improvised. We’ve really had a complete new regeneration since Rick’s illness from last year and have new ways of playing. From what I gather from the internet forums a whole new level of energy is coming off the stage. I can feel it on-stage, but you never know how far that transcends. It’s good to hear that that energy is universal. So there is that and also the new tunes and some quite radical re-workings of familiar anthems too.”
