ya, must be the roundhouse. doing it again tomorrow. Too bad there's no video stream like last time. The quality then was spectacular. Like watching a DVD.

Sounds like a positively boring show. I'm so glad I'm not there. And I'm especially glad there's no video stream. I really, really wouldn't want to see it.

Saw the setlist on the Live Here Now stand, and Junita was either an alternatve encore, or a possible second encore. Hope we get it tomorrow.
After Two Months Off
Shake That Higher
Cherry Pie
then into Rowla
It was a great show.
King of Snake was really "big", then it was just a long intro of Spikee into Glam Bucket which was great also. I loved particularly Banstyle & also Push Upstairs. The show was definitely great & if possible, it'll be better tomorrow (today actually... ;))

Yes, a great show, the improvs were a lot more blended in rather than being short interludes, and the transitions from track to track were really good too - much less starting and stopping than the first leg of the tour.
One thing that I havent seen mentioned is the new stage layout, Rick & Darren's desk was facing the left side of the stage, the two G5 iMacs were at the back of the stage facing forward, and Karl's 'pod' was folded round so it backed onto Rick's desk, giving Karl the whole left half of the stage to bounce around in.

Whoa, looks like I'll have to add the two Roundhouse gigs to my collection: Banstyle, Dark & Long, Push Upstairs (that's a fairly up-tempo closer?) + plenty of improv-goodyness :D

.. which would be the layout they've been using since the Oblivion Ball.;) And it works pretty good in my opinion, it sort of opened it up a bit more (not to mention it's now possible to get good shots of the strips :D)

was Dark and Long played with full lyrics?

TMO seems early in the setlist. Did they use the inflatables this time?
I love those things, I hope they didn't get rid of em! :)

Yes to inflatables (for TMO and cherry pie/rowla), but no to Dark and Long being played, in full or otherwise, I don't remember that being played at all, and it's certainly not on the live CD between BB and KOS as stated in the posted tracklist.

Two Months Off/Inflatables should be a permanent part of the Underworld live experience.... forever.
YOU HEAR THAT, RICK, KARL, AND DARREN??

Oi, you! Might have been nice to mention that I was texting you - in Seattle - song by song to share this lushness as it happened! A simple "thank you" would have done. Men!
Someone else can bloody do it tonight then, and I shall concentrate on having a good time. Stimpee has an iPhoney - should be easy for him. :p

Lol, you should have seen it before the edits, Janie. It was a mess. And there were criticisms of your level of über-fanness for not knowing Cherry Pie.

Yeah! What's that one that goes "squeak squeak squeak blip der der der der der" again? :p
I fully admit my shiteness at ID'ing track titles at times. I am OLD. I have at least 15 years more music in my head than you lot :D

I must say that I was NOT impressed by the organisation of the venue, especially for a dance gig.
The cloak room filling up long before the gig started, so we had to carry jackets, or stash them on the hall floor when dancing.
I also found that the bars not selling bottled water to be very stupid. Water and beer was only sold in open plastic glasses, resulting in people constantly having to go through a crowd of dancers balancing open drinks. Consequently the floor was soaked and slippy in places.
The building itself is great, the sound was clear, and Underworld played beautifully, but a little thought about how to run a live venue (for a dance gig, especially) would have made a the show more fun to be at.

underworld last night were so good. and nice to get some feedback from karl today ("festival crowd").
the set was fantastic - spoonman, banstyle, spikee, cherry pie... god, it was fab! i'm slowly recovering from post-underworld euphoria...

OI! i gave you plenty of credit for the duration of the gig and for many hours after as i revised the setlist. i decided to take away all the extraneous commentary and just post the setlist. the only reason this thread will be useful is for people checking the setlist.
i'll re-edit to give proper credit.

thnx janie and biz
Whoauw,
First time I saw Underworld outside the Netherlands(no 11). Was impressed by the building, the sound and the whole setlist. So pleased to hear Spoonman, Cherry Pie and Spikee. With the treasure of a live recording in my pocket I went back to the Netherlands next day. It has taken me days to recover from this magic moment. Thanx to Kirsty and Christian who invited me and showed me around London after the gig. Quiet an enjoyable adventure. Specially to see the fox in the streets.
Hopefully seeing you, Underworld, at one of the festivals (Lowlands!) this year.:)

Setlist has been updated in the first post to reflect what appears on the CD's.

wow ... I can't even picture KOS with Stagger lyrics...
was it the full set of lyrics? or just snippets (like how sometimes Karl will sing bits of "Spoonman" here and there)?
Mmm... thanks BLD for the setlist update... though, I'd love to know if this 1'42" before Banstyle has a name... not speaking about this amazing 2'20" improv before King Of Snake (or maybe it's "just" an intro, which could be the best intro for KoS I've ever heard...)

that first bit of Banstyle (45secs) was also used in Brussels between Cherry Pie and Spoonman.
edit: to be clear, the kick drums and bassline were not used in Brussels but the synth melody above it that starts just prior to the beats dropping out and the vocal sample coming in. that synthy melody was used between Cherry Pie and Spoonman at Brussels. i'm certain the 30-45secs of beats has been heard before but i can't place it.

if i could stand to listen to King of Snake, i'd tell you.
edit: bah, i went ahead and listened to it for you joethelion.
first 3mins = improv i haven't heard before
3-9mins = King of Snake as you'd imagine
9:25 - mini-breakdown + Stagger lyrics come in
"blah blah blah blah
blah blah blah
Straight in
blah blah blah
blah blah blah
Straight in"
9:50
that cool chirping KoS sound comes back in and karl is bellowing something indecipherable. no further Stagger lyrics on the outro portion of the song.

damn... yea - I've heard that bit too... I maybe want to say it was used as an improv into NUXX at some point before. But definitely not recently
which reminds me - not to hijack the thread
but for those who have heard the Hollywood Bowl show...
(the cleaned up version, not the original - which didn't have a single track time correct, etc)
during "Mo move' - at like 3:27 into the track and for about the next 30 seconds, there's this "umm umm Whom Whom" loop. I KNOW I've heard it before. And although - on the actual recording, it's not that prominent, it was definitely a lot more distinctive at the actual show

That loop is from Lenny Penne (High Society mix).
Also, I'm very glad they don't play Nuxx 2003 as often anymore. The original still rules!

Aw. I prefer the 2003, frankly. Just makes it different after all those years.

I've never seen Nuxx down as the original version live. Had the 2003 version three times and most recently Billy Goat mergered in to it. But that rocked.

29th tracklisting is very wrong as i posted. Skyscraper was not even played but was on the official setlist i got...
Well... erm... I don't agree with the tracklisting... (besides the fact that it doesn't mention Darren's tracks...)
UWlive tracklisting :
Confusion the Waitress
Rez/Cow
Pearls Girl
Airtowel
Crocodile
Nuxx
Twist
Juanita
Two Months Off
You do Scribble
Jumbo
Beautiful Burnout
King of Snake
Mmm Skyscraper
Moaner
LHN CDs :
CD1 :
Confusion The Waitress (8:19)
Rez/Cowgirl (14:19)
Air Towel (8:08)
Crocodile (6:54)
Pearls Girl (4:30)
Nuxx (9:57)
Twist / Everybody Jack / Juanita (18:17)
CD2 :
Two Months Off (11:15)
You Do Scribble (6:57)
Jumbo (9:21)
Beautiful Burnout (12:45)
Can You Feel This Bass / King Of Snake (10:20)
Moaner (9:39)
And... as I was there, I can say the cds are exactly like the gig was... (so Pearls Girl was the 5th track & not the 3rd, no Skyscraper  but a bit of Darren's tracks)
;)

Noticed during the last 30 seconds or so of 'Spoonman' from the 2/28 show, Karl sings a few lines from Bruce Lee over the top:
Life. Kids. Suck the Box
Life. Kids. Suck the Box
Yeah....Bruce Lee....
It didn't stick out like Stagger during KOS since his voice wasn't as up front in the mix.
