more mp3 downloads,
more RRP's,
more unreleased tracks,
play some Freur tracks live
come to Canada, USA more often please...
and more 3 hours shows!

Some people's Poll also had these questions attached:

What Would You Like to hear from Underworld Live in the future?

replies: downtempo / ambient stye sets - almost all replies said this !!!

What do you want from Dirty Radio in the future?

replies: More of the same / ambient night / more live UW broadcasts

What Do you want to see from the UW Shop in the future?

i'll try and summarise this poll, rather than just give the results in one chunk if i have more time...

i hope they guys at UW have a chance to see these results and the comments, especially regarding live stuff, popular tracks and also who we want remixing the boys in the furtue as there are some interesting choices and comments made here

thanks to those who took time out to vote and also thanks to Underworld, and their team for the Music.... this was about you guys after all....

oh and the prize winner is:

HOLDEN

for this poetic effort, which made me smile most:

Snow-thrown into the record bin, I make my decision, with your words in mind:

“This is indispensable, this is essential, and this is not to be missed.”

How right you were, I play it all night and I am brought into something dirty but epic.

Headphones block out the buzzing of ancient computer, watching progress bars crawl
Through file transfer protocols, we are sharing boots, needed again

To glide downhill through the night-snow,

Five feet hit five points and roll eight balls into the blood.

I am in over my head in Underworld.

Backing tracks to five years in the life, whether sleepless at 4 am or bringing light in.

I watch the layered films and resonate with dreams of three silhouettes behind a desk.

And when I can take no more of this wishful thinking, I’m 30,000 feet over distant skyscrapers,

Feeling geography, touching the streets of New York with book in hand as Karl might do, focusing on traffic voices as Rick might try.

And Finally, we become chemical, thousands as one, the visions made real,

Pong fantasies and sparkling suit, the strips for tracks, the historic guitar.

Every unrestrained body repeating that sentiment:

“This is not to be missed, this is Underworld, we are taken in.”

holden gets the stuff we listed previously, if you can send me your home address, i'll get -1 to send you his prizes from his end and i'll ship mine over soon.

well done, and thanks again

Matt

Holy crap, that's average? Must be some people with huge collections here.
I don't even understand how the average amount of underworld music items can be 74? I mean I have pretty much all generally available stuff (excl one or two singles) and a couple of "collectors items" and promos and I only got to about 30 items!
Or do you people just have 50 copies of each album?

potatobroth
02-26-2008, 06:42 AM
well if only 10 people did the survey then maybe i could see 74, but you and i both putting ~30 means two people put 110 items and simply is NOT happening. Well unless Matt put his 1000+ and totally skewed the numbers. :)

big screen satellite
02-26-2008, 07:16 AM
well, taking my 300 items out the number would be closer to 60 i suppose, and infact one of the numbers was entered as 600 instead of 60, so the average drops a bit for sure.... but nonetheless UW fans have music - and the hardcore voted!!!

and the other music averages are skewed by people with large collections yeah... someone with 60000 mp3's for example, plus someone with 5000 cd's and someone else with 8000 vinyl records...

the poll would be more average for certain had more people voted....

Sterling work, Matteus - thanks for all this. Some really interesting stats in there for sure. No surprise Juanita is still number one, but nice to see my name-sake in at number two :p

[Sorry I didn't get round to participating this, btw but I had my head full of serious work worries (resolved since Friday, thank god!) and just couldn't concentrate on this.]

And Holden! What a fantastic poem. Congrats :)

What Would You Like to hear from Underworld Live in the future?

replies: downtempo / ambient stye sets - almost all replies said this !!!

That doesn't make much sense to me. The live shows are suppose to be explosive and upbeat I thought whereas the more ambient/downtempo/chill was for listening at home. I can't imagine everyone just standing still watching the stage at an UW show...

I suspect the sentiment reflected in that poll result is based on the frustration with the Greatest Hits-style setlists Underworld performed in 2007. The shows were unmistakably banging and danceable, but some fans on this board were nevertheless disappointed. A downtempo set would be a clear antidote, which is why, I think, that answer came up so frequently in the poll.

Thanks for the results1 It is interesting to see what tracks people like and how much they correspond to my own tastes. Go the skewed results! (the mp3s were mine, I think! - wish I had (and could store) 8000 records though...)

On a tape recording i have from the last time UW played T in The Park, Karl says before the set that they want to do a more downtempo set, but when there older. I'd like to see a set with something like that.

Well, the question was, list your top ten favorite Underworld tracks. And I believe Matt listed them in order of total number of times they showed up on top ten lists.

i.e. as an example, say, Juanita was on 80 out of 100 top ten lists. And Beautiful Burnout was on 60 out of 100 top ten lists. And then, based on what position it was listed in on those 80 top ten lists, Juanita's average rank was 4.3. On the 60 top ten lists with Beautiful Burnout, its average rank was 5.3.

So, although Dark Train was ranked very highly on average (2.9), it did not appear on as many lists as Juanita, BB, etc.

spot on...

otherwise, a track that had one vote at say number one would have a rank of one, but was only voted popular by just one person... it was the simplest way to do it....

more people voted for Juanita in any position in their top ten and the average of these was 4.3, meaning more people put it in position 1-5 than 6-10 on their lists

it is by far the most popular track

what i might do is a poll of just the top ten tracks and get more people to enter....

this might give us a more reliable list as i think the volume of questions put some people off entering... some of the votes for the lower end numbers were poor

I've never understood the populairty of Thing In A Book.

I have the same feelings about the Born slippy track. I love thing in a book and it's pretty much the only track I am still waiting to hear a live version of it. I do not know how many live recordings I have from Underworld and have seen them live a few times already but it seems they do not want to play 20+ minutes in a row. :D

Yeah, I too, would love to hear TIAB live. Great old skool groove. 20 minutes of bliss. True winner everytime you dim the lights. Would be awesome to hear this put on as a segue between the opening dj & when the band takes the stage in ATL. The anticipation would be...
