according to "phase 2" of the line-up at Ultra this year -- which was released last night -- Underworld is headlining on Day 2. I couldn't find anything here to confirm this ... is this official?

Sounds offical to me - if you go to the ultra website they have the same info listed!

Bummer. WMC has morphed into one of the worst events in dance music. The lines at clubs are outrageous, the meathead crowds are overly aggressive at almost every party, and it costs a fortune to do just about anything.
See you all there, lulz.

For those who have been, is it worth it to get the VIP tickets? I've heard ULTRA can be extremely crowded.

Cool. I checked the site (http://www.ultramusicfestival.com/) before making this thread and it hadn't been updated yet.
Ultra is crowded and expensive ... I've never gotten the VIP tickets. First year I went (UMF5 I think?) it was forty bucks. I'm going to have to pull ~$150 out of my ass between now and March, and I hope it's worth it!

I'm praying Underworld show up on the bill for the All Points West (aka "Coachella East") thing, as this Ultra thing sounds like raver hell on earth. There are just some things I won't do and places I won't go, even for Underworld.

Ugh, it'd be so expensive to fly down there, manic with the crowd, and a super-tight schedule with my spring break...
I reall really really want to see Underworld live once in my life, and I have a nagging feeling that this show might be one of my last chances to see them in the States... The boys are getting older and they rarely tour the U.S. because of the money issue...
Do you think this would be my last chance?

Having seen them 3 times in the US in the past 6 years, I treat every show as if it's the last time I'm going to see them live. For the same reasons you just mentioned.
I'm just thinking if those VIP tickets mentioned on ultra's website where it says artist meet&greets have to do with UW. That might be worth the trip in itself.

Well, I doubt they are flying all the way to the U.S. just to put on one show. If they're coming out here at the end of March, then I would expect some more U.S. dates around that same time frame to be announced within the next couple weeks. Maybe they'll be playing a city nearer you.

I went to Ultra one year (2003 I think) and it was alright but nothing awesome. The best thing I saw there was probably LCD Soundsystem. The main tent was insane - a sea of a million raver-people.

Regarding Ultra, if you want shorter bar lines then go for the VIP as they tend to get pretty long outside. Bathroom lines aren't that bad inside or outside VIP.
I always have a blast at WMC, tons of good parties going on! Underworld at Bicentennial is going to be amazing, see you all there!
Cheers,

It would be incredible if UW played a few more shows here in the States, but they've been all over the place lately. I wouldn't put it past them to take a well-deserved break.
Facebook kind of psyched me out yesterday in this regard. I was looking at UW's profile on iLike, because I saw "Local Show" next to their name. In my excitement, I hurriedly looked at the venue, but was disappointed to see "Norway" instead of "Minneapolis". I think their programmers need a geography lesson.

ndrwrld here...
UW themselves would have to pay me to deal with the chaos that is Ultra.
now how about some of them other ' missed ' North American cities !

So i've been drawing some good energy with my wishful thinking some time ago. UW@Ultra! Carma cashed in.
I went to Ultra last year and even though it rained the time spent there was worth it to the fullest. There are plenty of juicers with shades on but who counts them when you are having fun? Wait, i can't think anyomore. Underworld are playing at Ultra and that does it for me.
