Well, the US did get a short tour in the autumn before the UK, even. And it looks like the Ultra festival gig in Miami in March is official (saw it on the Uw facebook page..would they lie?!)

Are we ever going to get the chance to see the mighty machinistas here in Toronto, or at least in Montreal, again?
I simply can't afford to go to Miami this year, and found notice a bit short pull it off like I did the last time they wowed the Ultra crowd.
Cheers.

rumor is that UW are opening for Radiohead, who are playing here in Toronto augustish 2008.
i am not a fan of the amalgamation of these 2 bands, especially if this is the only way i am to see Underworld in Toronto any time before 2010( yes, still remembering Oct 19th, 2007 ), because tickets for this will be extremely hard to get, not because of the allure of Underworld, but the insane draw that Radiohead will pull to the ticket sales.
i also cannot afford Ultra.
i thought Underworld liked Toronto...

Perhaps the best possible thing to do would be to integrate Karl, Rick and the rest of the lads in Tomato into Nuit Blanche in September. This would be the absolute perfect fusion of all of the combined talents, and the energy on this night in Toronto would lend itself oh so sweetly to the typical glory that is Underworld live. Also, this would provide a new audience with an open mind on a night where all are looking to experience art in all its forms.
Just a thought.

Looks like the rumors of UW supporting Radiohead are true:
Out of the mouth of Karl Hynde, anyway::p
http://www.virtualfestivals.co.uk/latest/features/4541
KH: “Yeah, we’re off to America tomorrow. We’re heading to Atlanta and then the Ultra Festival in Miami and then we are going down to Chile and Argentina, then supporting Radiohead a couple of times in America and then back to Europe.”
Or did we know this already? Couldn't find any real concensus in the other threads, and this isn't yet up on UWLive.

I thought Grizzly Bear were supporting radiohead on there 2nd USA tour and Liars on the first part
geoff
04-13-2008, 03:57 PM
Dirty0900 is right. Every non-festival tour date on the RH website has openers listed as Grizzly Bear or Liars.
And we can confirm by the festival websites that UW is only playing the first night of All Points West.
Seeing as Karl mentioned it in the article, UW opening for RH must have been an idea that was never realized.

Virgin Festival August 9-10 in Baltimore has pretty good line-up. Underworld headlines dance tent on Saturday night along w/ Steve Lawler, Soulwax, DJ Dan & Donald Glaude. NIN headlines main stage Sun night along w/ Stone Temple Pilots, Bob Dylan & has Rabbit in the Moon, Richie Hawtin in dance tent.

Right this is really starting to concern me. They have been to Japan twice now in the last year as well as the states so it would seem they are winding there Tour up but still no Australian Dates. Anyone know of any Rumours or ANYTHING at all???? I am EXTREMELY concerned they are not coming...

They've hinted that there will be more Underworld-only shows after the summer festivals wrap up. If I were to guess, I would bet on more Japan dates at the end of the year, with that being the best chance for a stop down under also.

Hi,
Can I also add a heartfelt desperate request for a Melbourne sideshow?
Summerdayze festival has a notorious reputation in Australia, and draws a crowd that's more interested in their fluro clothes and designer drugs than the lineup or act on stage.
There are many hardcore underworld fans that would not want to be caught dead in that place.
Is there any way we can get word of whether there will be a sideshow at all? Future Entertainment arn't giving away any clues, and this event normally sells out very quickly. A lot of people are holding out for the sideshow announcement, but may find themselves missing out completely if none get announced and summerdayze sells out.
Please please please.... sideshow!!!!

I really do hope they do an Aus sideshow somewhere. It's brilliant that they're coming back to Aus, but the Summadaze festival really isn't my thing at all so I'm going to give it a miss.

I know i have been whinging for a while about wanting Underworld to finally come back to Austrlaia and now they are here i am whinging about them playing at SummerDayze but seriously PLEASE DO A SIDE SHOW and announce it soon. I have bought a ticket to summerdayze but desperatly do not want to go and would love nothing more then to sell the disgustingly overpriced ticket to some buffed, coked up, shirtless, Fluro wearing wog who is actually going to enjoy it rather then me go for only the duration of Underworlds set then get the fuck out of dodge.
I strongly belive that nearly all of Underworlds true fans would not want them playing at such a shithouse festival without announcing a side show. Unfortunatly i also know that when big acts play at shows such as this they are paid large amounts of money and their contract stipulates that they are not allowed to do any other shows except the summerdayze festivals.... I hope this is not the case with Underworld but it would not surprise me. If any dirty's are still going to Summerdaze to see them let me know because all my mates would like to see Underworld but there is no way they will go to a summerdayze to see them.
Cheers
~end rant~
I second Damper's rant. Summadayze is not a music festival for music fans. It's a messy gathering of drunken and drugged up teenagers which just happens to include a few music acts. Underworld really should do a sideshow in Melbourne. I'd come over from Perth to see it...but I'm not holding my breath.

I have heard no Rumours of them coming to New Zealand i am sorry buddy. I think last time they were here they came as part of the Big Day out Tour so do you get the Summerdayze festivals over on sheep rooter Island? If so i think you can count on them coming... Hope that helps hey bro.

Maybe (http://www.darktrain.org/dirty/forums/showthread.php?t=9286)
If you’re in Sydney this New Years Eve, there’s no question there’ll be some heavy-duty party action going down at Bondi Beach. Fuzzy have secured the massive lineup of Underworld, Eric Prydz and The Presets to bring in the new year! There’s a been a few Sydney-siders out there that have been feeling a wee bit left out when it comes to the large events and heavy-duty headliners we’ll be seeing during the New Year period, but now they’re guaranteed something huge to rock out too while the clock is ticking over to the first hours of 2009.
What to say about that lineup? Underworld are known as one of the most seminal and successful live dance acts to ever hit the stage, due equally to the enigmatic (and energetic) performances of Karl Hyde and the forward-thinking production of Rick Smith. Similarly, Sweden’s Eric Prydz is revered by many as one of the greatest dance music producers to ever walk the planet, and he sent fans around the country into a frenzy when it was announced that he’d be touring Australia for the very first time.
2008 has been the year of The Presets, with the Australian duo whipping crowds into a state of hysteria wherever they’ve played over the past 12 months. So it’s fitting that they’ll be helping Sydney usher in the New Year. All up it makes for what’s arguably the finest lineup that Shore Thing has ever hosted, taking place in what’s arguably one of Australia’s most iconic locations. How could you lose?

Underworld is going to give the Australian Underworld fans what they need on three of the four Summadayze day-festivals, january 2009.
As I am in need of some Underworld all the time, and planning a trip to Australia at the moment, around january 2009, I would like to ask our Australian friends (might as well start networking now ;)), and anyone else:
Has anyone ever been to one of those Summadayze festivals? Are they worth the price? I don't really care for the rest of the line-up (amongst which are some Dutch dj's which I, as a dutchman, consider a bit too much on the mainstream side).
And what about the venues? One will be held in Melbourne, Sydney Myer Music Ball (1th january, almost sold out); one in Gold Coast, Doug Jennings Park (3rd january); and one in Perth, The Esplanade & Supreme Court Gardens (4th january). Any info and tips about these are much appreciated!
I posted the above in the "moments" section of this forum (http://www.darktrain.org/dirty/forums/showthread.php?t=9327). Maybe not the right place, considering that the "moment" won't occur earlier than three months from now. Maybe I gonna be more succesful in getting some tips and info in this thread.

As for the price, if you don't care about any of the other acts, then isn't the question just, do you want to pay $100 to see Underworld at a festival?

I plan to see Underworld play at Summerfieldayze at the Gold Coast. I have not been to this festival before, but my friends say its lots of fun. Doug Jennings Park is not the greatest venue, but it has more space than many other festivals. The fact that it is on Saturday 3rd January is another plus, as it is not new years day, and hopefully the number of messy youngsters wont be as high.

In the end, it comes to this question indeed. AS they are the headliner, I do expect them to give a proper sized set. But it still is a festival-gig.
What makes it worth it maybe, would a good organised festival (and good weather, which won't be a problem I think.) That's why I'm hoping someone here has experience with these Summadayze festivals. I'll ask in the Australia thread (thanks for the link, TheBang).

Summadayze is brilliant if you love coked up idiots and spending most of your time queuing for toilets/drinks/anything else. I've been to many, and whilst they used to be a lot of fun years ago, now they're just another festival where it's "cool" to be seen at. You couldn't pay me enough money to ever go back. :(
I'm really sad that this is appearing to be the only UW gig in Melbourne, as are the many UW fans that have the same opinion of Summadayze as me.
