heard a few songs from the album through the wire stream
not promising, surprisingly enough.
you'd think after how brilliant untilted was that they'd just keep on developing something that original, but it's like they fell into a schematic hole circa 1999 and crawled out without any aim, direction, or even rhythm.

i know it's a stream and cant be judged there and etc, but seriously. it sounded idiotic, and i hope the whole comes together as an album better than its parts.

I've been avoiding listening to anything until I get the CD actually - I got caught out with the fake promos of Untilted.
But their live shows are something else entirely - I went to the Untilted gig in London at SE1 Club, and it totally blew me away, so I can't wait to see them again...

so did i, and it was bad.

but it was a radio stream, so it was legit.
but it still kinda sucked

Excellent if you're an Autechre fanboy, so-so if you're not.

08 Hamburg - HafenklangTickets are in my desk drawer. :)

I'm not too much into their recent stuff, I like the older, spacious, more trancy *cough* tracks better. But I've wanted to see them live for a long time, so this was a no-brainer.

well - I saw them at the Black Cat in Washington, DC a few years ago (maybe 3 or 4, I can't remember)...

but they played in complete, total darkness. the only lights on in the venue were just some soft lights where the bartenders were - the Black Cat had two... like proper 'bar stands' (or whatever you'd call them), one on each side of the dance floor. Oh, and there was a bit of a glow coming off their computer screens

the entire show was basically just one long stream of music. there were no stopping points whatsoever... but at the same time, it never was anything that you could really dance to, if that makes any sense. Well, there were a few nuts in the audience sort of having full body spasms over extended periods of time, but I dunno if they were really 'dancing'

years ago i would have followed autechre to the ends of the earth and back again. but the last few albums.... eh.... i haven't heard anything yet but i'm not optimistic. certainly not terribly interested in a live show at this point.

i should just stop holding out hope that they'll ever do anything like ep7 ever again. :(

I'm looking forward to their new album and seeing them in Hamburg. :D

I've listened to this (http://rs135.rapidshare.com/files/40249672/2005-04-15_-_Autechre_-_Live___Art_School__Glasgow.mp3) soundboard recording from their Untilted tour and I guess their live sets are going to be something like that. I was quite surprised as it is more accessible (and I'd even call it dancable) than their recent albums.

holden... dude

I seriously, have never seen anything like it... there was this guy with thick black glasses and black t-shirt on who would like circle his hand over his head (so that his palm was facing down toward the floor), and then... sort of dry heave while randomly doing deep knee bends. Then he'd circle his hand over his date(?) who just sort of stood there looking awkward

...the ENTIRE NIGHT

Thanks for the live link, don't think i've ever heard any authecre live recordings. Although i'm not overly excited about their last albums, it's always fun to see what happens next and i look forward to the new album.

I think one reviewer summed it up last time around when he said that they "treat melody like it's a repugnant fart!" :)

Seriously though, I appreciate what they do these days but I don't like it much! :) We're a long ways from Tri Repetae and a million light years away from one of my favorite songs ever, "Bike".

They, too, are doing a radio internet stream on Saturday 23rd Feb, 20h00 GMT, as well as making a copy of the album available to purchase as a FLAC or MP3. Details here. (http://www.autechre.ws/)

maybe it's because i was half expecting it to be a bunch of nonsense after that awful radio preview, but not only is this different (as usual), but it's also really damn good.
and interesting.
it seems like any rhythm gets drowned by how fat and suffocating it is, but then patterns sneak up on you and it's quite nice.
i already like it a lot.
there's not enough time to put both this and clark on repeat...

I'm in London for 3 days, till tuesday to thursday, and I wasn thinking to try to see them live the 4th at Hean Street Car park, but it seems that the tickets are sold out. Is there any chance to get one there or something, or was this only by online ticketing?

Thx!

They were actually pretty good, some amazing beats. Rob Hall DJing just before them was incredible, NEVER heard percussion like that. I was absolutely BLAZING though, like fire coming out my hands y'know :p
