Howdy all,
You may have heard about the Jessie Rose remix of 'Faxed Invitation' that is supposedly on the 'Boy, Boy, Boy' single that is released, not released, going to be released. But what about this?
UNDERWORLD - GLOBE (JESSE ROSE REMIX) - JUNIOR RECORDINGS
Well, it's on her MySpace page for you to hear:

I have an mp3 too, but I don't know if it's kosher to distribute or not. I'd be happy to post it if so.
Not sure about the Faxed Invitation remix, which I'm dying to hear.

are we listening to the same thing?
one line repeated over the same beat for 5min+,
plus some keyboards over the lyrics hardly equals a mix..
lately it seems like all the remixes of the new songs,
seem to be really lacking (even the underworld one)..
compared to the riverrun mixes...
what happened?

I agree... can't really stand listening to it.

Hmm, well , i think it's a bit "everything and the kitchen sink"..a lot of weird sounds and not a lot from the original besides the few lines from Karl. But i'm a huge fan of the lyrics, so it still works for me somehow.
Re; negative1...i hear you on the recent remixes. i'm having trouble feeling the Mark Knight "BB" remix as well as the "Ade/Innervisions" version of Crocodile. The Huntemann mixes have actually grown on me. But i do think the Underworld remix of Burnout is great. Not a drastic reqorking, but definitely souped up!

agreed, it looks like it has a lot of cool tracks in it..
(good to see uberzone is still around)..
that's another thing, this latest batch of underworld
mixes, they all seem to go much better in mixsets,
as opposed to being standalone tracks... maybe
there's not much of a demand for single mixes
anymore..

i think that's usually the intent of the remixer, to have their version selected by DJs to get people moving on the dancefloor. Of course, there are remixes that work better on their own and make for great headphone grooving, but often when we get a disc full of mixes of the same track (e.g. the King of Snake single, or notoriously, the "Go" remix disc by Moby, with like 14 versions all smooshed together), i wonder, how many remixes actually get played?
i've always thought (maybe incorrectly?) that remixes were commissioned to take an already popular track and (a) juice it up for the clubs, esp. if it's a huge hit already and the original is getting tired or (b) to sell singles as having the rare so-and-so remix.
By the way, negative1, as you yourself proved with your riverrun remix mix, that set of 12"ers worked amazing in the mix, and generally hold up as standalones as they're al pretty drastic reworkings of the originals.
