These improvs are going to take some sorting out, but I think the Manchester setlist contains them all, so we'll get names for everything there in due course.
Having heard the CD without my ears ringing, and 4 more gigs, I wish to retract my earlier guess of 'don't trip on it' for one of them, I now think the looped words are 'jack your body', I've called it that in my other tentative CD tracklists.
If memory serves me right, the one I've been calling 'space invaders' is the one that aNt calls Javelin Boy?

are you sure the Jack Your Body isn't Javelin Boy? the words in Javelin Boy are not clear and could be interpreted as Javelin Boy.

well - in New York, there was an improv before "Pearls Girl"
that definitely used a vocal loop of "Jack your body". they even dropped out the music, and just had the loop playing for a moment

hmm... that sample sounds very similar to the "jack your body" loop
or maybe I'm just remembering a different part of the NYC show...
I'm in Chicago this afternoon/evening - so I don't have my laptop
when I get back tomorrow, I'll double check.
BrotherLovesDub
10-20-2007, 10:40 AM
double check, but i'm 99% positive that any Jack Your Body samples are actually going to be the Javelin Boy sample.
i've got NYC on my computer too but it's annoying as hell to listen to with a bunch of idiots yapping away in the field.
the real stuff

I listened to the NY show, and I hear more syllables there. something like "jack your dirty body", but maybe "javelin boy" with a bizarre dialect.

the improv/track before glam bucket i still dont recognise, it has the 'g.g.g.g. garage' vocal snippet from dark train being played over the top of it but thats about all i recognise

it was gonna be rescheduled, at least that was the info given (by Yannick...? can't recall where I read it exactly). Not sure if I'm gonna fork out for another plane ticket to go and see it so I might just ask Roundhouse for a refund.

Could one of you kind dirts answer a few questions for me...
1. What are the differences between the two versions of Bamboo? Does the Manchester one have "vision come on" lyrics? Which one is "better" overall?
2. Which versions of Glam Bucket have a strong guitar part? I'm not too crazy about the album version, but the live one with guitar is soooo nice.
This would really help me out in choosing which gigs to buy... :) Thanks.

am i correct in assuming that while the gig is postponed, the actual recording of it is a loss at this point?

2. Javelin Boy (not the same beat under the vocal sample as london) / Crocodile (9.59)
It IS the same beat as London.
7. Lenne Penne / Glam Bucket (10.14)
This would properly be called "Lenny Penne (Darren Price Mellow Acid Mix)" as listed on dirty.org after the 2006-05-14 Lemonworld Broadcast (Track 11).

I take it you are talking about last Friday's gig? Well, I could see how it would be in Live Here Now and the band's interests to get the next date recorded too. I dunno tbh, but it still makes commercial sense.

I would think they have a limited number of set-up and burning rigs, and I would assume if they reschedule the date (or record the next on the tour) that they may or may not have access (they being Live Here Now) to the proper equipment depending on whom else they're recording at the moment.
That, plus this:
** PLEASE NOTE ** Due to band illness the 19th October show at the Roundhouse did not take place. If you have pre-ordered this recording you will be receiving an email from us to organise a refund or replacement.
When a similar message accompanied some of the Depeche Mode shows they recorded, it meant they were offering another show from the tour that had already been recorded - not a wait for a replacement.
Someone may want to contact LHN directly, though, as they may have some idea as to the intention of their own future recordings LOL!

Question for all,
For those that have multiple LiveHereNow CD's of this tour, is the sound quality fairly similar from show to show?
I'm still waiting for my order to show up. Hopefully tomorrow. It's been 10 days.
Thanks for the help,

well, it's about 10 seconds of the synth from Small Conker. i'm not sure it's worth wasting space in the ID3 tag for the same synth not as appears on another song. it's hardly the song Small Conker, just a synth lead in.

nope, haven't received them yet. i'd be willing to guess that there was more guitar played than you can hear. the only issue with these live discs is, since they're direct to disc from the soundboard, you miss out on the mastering and eq'ing that would have taken place and benefitted the recordings. they're good recordings and i'm thankful to have them, but they suffer a bit in how the sounds are mixed into the recorder.

I went ahead and purchased the Glasgow and London #2 CDs -- Glasgow because it opens with Dirty Epic, and London needs no explanation!
The YouTube clip of Glam Bucket in Denver has decent sound quality, so I guess I can fall back to that if the radio station in my head forgets how Karl's solo went.

They are soundboard, with audience noise mixed in (usually only at the beginnings and endings of songs).

That's not Back in the Fears. That's an interlude-ish ambient sound that they've played regularly since 2005. See, for example, the opening of Osaka 2005, before Moaner at Luxembourg 2005, before King of Snake at Cocoon 2006, before Peggy Sussed at Moscow 2006, and before Kittens at London #2 2007.

Looking for some advice on buying the live recordings...
Originally, I was gonna buy London 1...but I want Glam Bucket...so I now it looks like I'll pick up two sets.
I definitely want You DO Scribble...and Cowgirl as an opener and the whole vibe of a homecoming seems so perfect for London 1.
My first inclination was to also get London 2, but I'd love to have Dirty Epic live, so Glasgow seems a good choice...then there is the quandry of Bamboo...how good of a track is that?
I'm looking at spending $60 US here, so I really want to decide carefully. Hearing from those who have purchased these already would be great. Thanks in advance.

Now my Glasgow CD arrived so thats on top of two Brum CDs lol
Icidently how many different intro's to Born Slippy Nuxx have there been on the Tour? Think the best is using the You Do Scribble intro. At Norwich there wasn't an intro just the beats slowly getting louder like the Glasgow gig.

then there is the quandry of Bamboo...how good of a track is that?
It's a simple little dance number, but it has a charming feel to it... listen for yourself: http://youtube.com/watch?v=LO5FBgnSKJk
I also had a tough time choosing which CD's to buy, but I finally settled on Birmingham and Glasgow. My requirements were:
1. Bamboo
2. You Do Scribble
3. Glam Bucket (with guitar like Denver)
4. Nuxx 03
5. Kittens
So those two gigs worked out nicely. There's not too much i'm missing out on... basically just Skyscraper and Rowla.

I guess one could publish just the cue sheets?

Did anyone else notice there are uwlivecd catalogue numbers for a lot more than the 6 (intended) live discs in the header for the live tracklisting site? And Southampton was the first? Does that constitute the radio show or is there another disc forthcoming? I see much expense in my future... *sigh*

Could you do me (us?) a favor and check whether the Manchester version of Glam Bucket has Karl doing the Denver-esque guitar improv (http://youtube.com/watch?v=aTB-dpFMYDU), or whether the guitar is more subtle and in the background like London and Glasgow?

it's wise to note that not all songs split with a forward slash ( / ) are segues or mixed tracks. more often than not, these are just poorly marked on the part of LiveHereNow.

I mean, of COURSE I'll buy them (I agree - we've pined for so long) - I'm glad they haven't pulled a Pearl Jam, but the boys are so darned good at mixing it up night after night that it's hard to pick a few to buy and I KNOW I'll be getting them all...

Maybe the full Southampton show will be a uwlive D/L (free or paid)? Hmmm...
(Though I guess most/all of the rest are cancelled with the remaining tour dates - I wonder if these will be rescheduled...)

Tons of Darren Price tunes. "Javelin Boy" is really "Everybody Jack". "Lenny Penne (Darren Price Mellow Acid Mix)" is really "Sidestep". I didn't realize "5 Foot 5" was a Price tune. In fact, it seems that most of the "improv"-ish bridges over the past couple years have all been Darren Price compositions.

Yeah it interesting that shake that higher is a Darren Price tune. Parts of the speech used on that song at Benicassim 2005 was also used at Fuji 1999, so it's cool that they used an old sample on a new tune.

There is defo more prominent guitar on the Manchester version than on the other cds. It is interesting, also, to compare the two versions of Bamboo (one from Birmingham and the other from Manchester) - Birmingham feels like Five Ft Five mixing into Bamboo, whereas the Manchester version seems like a slow rythm build-up to Bamboo. Plus, Manchester has the extended breakdown as in the Boston version posted by pulsetrain here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LO5FBgnSKJk

I have also received my America-land CD! The first CD of the Birmingham set is great! Just listening to the second now. Two Months Off isn't really my thing and this version isn't selling me on it, but everything else has been great. I loved the vocoder melodies in Cowgirl, and it's nice to have a solid copy of Bamboo. The bass on that one is killer!
And even though the guitar wasn't as active in Glam Bucket here as that L.A. show I liked the noise treatment in the first half of this version.
If the other CDs are as good as this one we will really need a new Bootleg Babies to get that ultimate experience here! The old one is such a great, succinct time capsule of their older sets.

It isn't bullshit - they effectively had a backlog of 6 working days' worth of post to deal with as well as the current lot. The strike had a much longer knock-on effect than most people realise. My Crocodile CD single was sent out on the 9th October and I received it on 2nd November! that must be some kind of record for 1st class post within the UK. :)

nicodemus is the jazzy jumbo intro that everyone loved so much at osaka. i kind of hate it because it sounds so nice until a default, pre-made, and *very* distinctive garageband beat sequence comes in and ruins it. it doesnt even fit well and it's so cheap.

Customs is the other issue... things coming into the country don't ever seem to be rushed through customs anymore. From the US I get things pretty quickly, but beyond that (UK etc) it all takes a while. I don't start to worry until it hits a month, then I start to get concerned... up to that point, it's frustrating but frequently explicable through standard shipping bugs.

i've been buying a lot of things off ebay, many of them from

i've gotten items (cds/lps/dvds) in as little as 1 week, so i'm not

My order for the 4 shows other than Birmingham came in the mail today. This order arrived 4 days quicker than my previous order. Hope that is what's happening for the rest of you out there.

that song is almost as creepy as dean martin singing "baby it's cold outside.." but eartha kitt is hilarious instead of date-rape so it's okay.
i plan to get glasgow and birmingham when it's ever possible.
london 1 if i'm in a good mood ;)
dunno how i'm going to get osaka (yes we had a 'thing' about it but i'd still like it if only for monkeywink.nuxx)

I've just recieved my 2 London discs making my collection complete. Just awaiting the Oblivion Ball cd now.
Plus I'm going to re-trackmark the discs to better match the proper tracklistings plus i may attempt a "Best Of" compilation like Negative 1 is gonna do.
:)
Should be quite fun.

Yeah, I'm leaving off some of the major tracks,
but that's ok, they could be added in the future...

i think you could have made room for Javelin Boy/Crocodile from either london 2 or glasgow, instead of the Birmingham Croc, because JB is a new track after all... just my thought... its only 7:11 long in London, although the Glasgow version is better...

Plus I'm going to re-trackmark the discs to better match the proper tracklistings
FYI, did you see this thread?

Do you mean, "Everybody Jack"? He already has that one on there.

i agree that some tracks will probably change, i've only listened
through them twice... so my opionon will probably change,
especially after trying to mix them..
have you come up with your favorite tracks yet?

Hi TheBang, yeah i have seen your thread and , no offence, but there's just a couple of places where i think the tracks might be marked different. It is being picky, (very picky) but that's just my nature. Plus what I'm also doing is editing the discs so that there is no DJ tracks at the beginning of the gigs on the CDs that that appears on and also where Two Months Off has been cut off at end of disc one i'm mixing/editing the full two months off to the end of disc one (as that seems to be the most sensible point to end the first disc).
So the discs are getting a little trimmed and restructured too. Just my own stupid personal tastes and coz i love working on little projects like this.
Your initial CUE sheets though have been invaluble in doing my edits though. Saved me a hell of a lot of work. Thanks. :)

Yup, I understand different people have different ideas about how things should be done. People also have different foibles and different levels of tolerance for certain things. My CUE sheets got it good enough for my tastes for the amount of effort I was willing to put into it. I'm glad they were able to at least give you a starting point.

I've been away a while as my computer decided to die on me. Has anyone done a set of tracklistings/times for the new batch of liveherenow cds from this year?
