I remember hearing "You Do Scribble" for the first time and thinking, "this has got to be the new single, this seriously rules!" and was dreaming about how great the studio version would be. "Always Loved a Film" was the same way, and of course the track "Darc" just seems too fleshed out to have been left in the dust. All three of these tracks seem fairly complete, they totally rule, and yet even with a new album we don't get them...

Okay, so what do you guys think is going to happen with them? Was OWB nearly complete by the time this tracks were written or something? Will they be B-sides? Or just not come out at all? I remember a thread a while back where Karl said he almost cut "Jumbo" from Beacoup Fish because he didn't really like it...could this be the same case? I mean we all agree these tracks rule don't we??

To be honest I'm a little divided...I love the fact that OWB is full of (mostly) never before heard stuff, but I worry that these tracks may never see the light of day. What do YOU think???

What about Cappe Ffuno (sp?) and 5 Points?

everything mentioned here will all find its way to the several eps being released over the next 3 months.

(maybe if we talk about it like it's going to happen it will okay)

All we can hope is that they will surface someday...

Especially Darc. Did that song get played anywhere other than Amsterdam?

"2010, Underworld Unreleased". Not really, let's not make this a rumor. But i really do want to own those tunes on a piece of plastik.

Does anyone remember when like 1 second from every track on the new "album" was played on a radiocast over a year ago.....if OWB was in the can around then, then there could be another new album by next year....or at least 3 more RiverRuns etc.:)

But then again, Biro the Leggy was from like 4-5 years ago and just now got off the shelf and properly arranged, so guess that means that Scribble and Darc could be album tracks in 2010 right?!?;)

That's what I'm kind of thinking. I remember Cappe Fffffuno, it was a pretty sweet track, but seemed a little unfinished. I wish they'd release that one too. Never heard 5 Points, what's it like?

hm...

maybe a followup to OWB?

what's "Five Points" like?

well...

it's quite possibly the best Underworld track... ever!

ok...

so I'm definitely over-exagerating
but it still is a great track that never was released

definitely more than just an improv, it felt more like a proper song... just that maybe they didn't have a great intro or outro.

well, regarding stuff like 5 points, Beep Beep etc, none of those were as far developed as tracks like Darc, You do Scribble or Always Loved A Film.
Then again, they have been known simply to scrap tracks because they sound too much like what they've done before (remember that early moaner-esque version of Sola Sistim they played on one of their radioshows? That track was pretty complete but was never heard outside of that radioshow).
You do Scribble is basically TMO pt 2 with breakbeats. It would probably have been to obvious a single and they want to do something a bit different. (although I guess Crocodile is basically Dark & Long pt 2)
I can see how Scribble is not on this album, cause it wouldn't really fit with the style, although I think Darc might have worked quite well and ALAF as well.

IMO You Do Scribble has very little or nothing to do with Two Months Off and can stand well on its own.

More similar tracks have been released (Mo Move borrows from King of Snake, Dino3D from Dark Train...)

It is like TMO in that it's the same kind of epic, exuberant, uplifting and banging track. The similarities like those are obvious even when the sounds are different. I love Scribble but I can see why they would not choose it as a single or include it on the album.

it'd be nice to have You Do Scribble on a CD, but I think it's also cool that it's unique to the 2005 shows. shame I didn't get to see any of those, though

so..... absolutely no chance of them playing it next week then? :(

not looking at all likely i know but it would fill my pants with joy.
i'm less bothered about having it released on cd than i am about getting to hear it live, because i already have a quality live recording.

Seems like most of the singles released over the last couple albums have been filled with remixes. Those are fun and all, but i know we all miss the EP's with quality unreleased original material. We know the songs are out there but perhaps just not mature enough for UW to be ready to release them.

Not that it's my business but I don't really agree with not realeasing something because it sounds too much like another track. If it was written in a different context than a previous track the originality was probably spoiled more by someone making a comment that it's "too much" like a previous track. That version of Sola Sistim was a cool track and would have fit in as a b-side just as well as any of the remixes that were released instead. Who knows, there could be another amazing piece like Cherry Pie, Rez, or Dark Train out there just waiting to be released. After all, those were all alternate versions of previously released tracks. :D

Jazzy Jumbo, i'm also thinking of you. ;)

Have to agree...seems that there are plenty of b-sides/versions out there for UW to release a Pearl's Girl EP-type thing...

They did release the JAL to Tokyo EP for the Japanese Market...but no "new" material included...

I'd bet we're likely to see another Riverrun before an EP...which would be fine with me.

In the recent MTV interview, it says "You Do Scribble" and the speech version of "To Heal (and Restore) " will be given proper release, perhaps on UWLive. Also says another RiverRun is likely.

Funny, i'm just listening to an older dirtyradio show, with "biro the leggy", which Karl explains as "something Rick found in the archives from the Hundred Days Off album era". That made it out, eventually! They also played an early version of "Pegg Sussed". So, i guess patience is the rule. If it sounds good and they keep bringing out working versions(a la Phonestrap, Silver Boots/ALAF), chances are they'll be released. i hope! ;)

Yeah...Apparently the beginning bit of MoMove was originally attached to Biro...

Yeah...Apparently the beginning bit of MoMove was originally attached to Biro...

someone correct me if I'm wrong...
but

actually - "Biro the Leggy" is basically the 'demo version' of "Mo Move". Also, if you listen closely, some of the percussion is used in both tracks

[and ... although I haven't had a chance to listen to all three in a row & carefully listen - there might even be those same elements in "Beautiful Burnout"]

so basically it goes:
• 'Trousers' (live track f/ Electraglide 2000) - you can clearly hear bits of "Mo Move" @ the 5:35 mark
• then it's either "Biro the Leggy" or the next version is that snippet of audio that was on the UWlive video of Karl in the studio (I don't think Rick was in it) (it has those "Mo Move" bleeps)
• then you get "Mo Move"
• "Biro the Leggy" is "rediscovered" and is eventually played out live
• Beautiful Burnout

btw - It's been really REALLY bugging me, ok - at the Hollywood Bowl show, during "Mo Move" at 3:26 you hear this "woom woom... waaam waam... wooom wooom... waaam waaam" sort of keyboard sound. I know I've heard that bit before. I actually even recognized it at the show... but for the life of me, I can't figure out where it's from!!!!!

is it from an early UW remix of another band?

Ahhhhhhhh! TT! Superb ambient, almost world-music-like track, that. Awesome lyrics too - very haunting. I first heard that in the second Lemonworld radio broadcast, which must have been around April 05-ish?

Didn't UW perform You do scribble last thursday (London part 2, 18th of october 2007)?

It is listed in the tracklistings posted here on the forum (http://www.darktrain.org/dirty/forums/showthread.php?t=6875). And on the thread about the gig, a link was posted to a recording of it, named You do scribble by the one who posted it (here: http://www.darktrain.org/dirty/forums/showthread.php?t=6857&page=8)

As you may notice, I didn't knew You do scribble before thursday.

Nevermind...this is obviously the original mix of Sola Sistim that they scrapped because it "sounded too much like Moaner"

The post you quoted was from before they started the UK leg of their tour. Up until that point, they hadn't played You Do Scribble since the 2005 tour, and we had no idea they'd be playing it again.

Are you referring to the EP that was released on iTunes Japan? That has a version of 'Ancient Phat Farm Coat' on that was about 16 minutes long, which I wasn't aware had been released elsewhere? (if you know otherwise, please tell me!) I have a snippet from one of the old webcasts which is just over four minutes long though. There was also an unmixed 'Food A Ready' on there which hasn't been released outside of Japan.

I have to say I do miss the days of the Danish 'Dark & Long' EP and of course the US 'Pearl's Girl' EP where we were treated to an hour of stunning new or reinterpreted UW music. I think we are more likely to see another RiverRun though.

What i want to know is, what are the B-Sides for this album? Apparently the boys had dozens of tracks to pick through, but surely some were closer to making it on than others. Aside from "Loads of Birds" as a Japanese exclusive, and the short track "Metal Friend" from the DVD,
will we see/hear any B-Sides on any versions of the singles? I guess Crocodile has been released in all its incarnations, backed with remixes. But maybe for "Boy,Boy,Boy" or a future single, we might get another track? i hope!

Have to figure we'll get a couple...There were 3 besides from AHDO, from 2 single releases, right?
Though now that UW have Riverrun as a possible output, maybe we are likely to see just mixes on the singles from OwB...and another Riverrun release in the spring or next summer.
