View Full Version : OWB USA Pre-Order
Yannick
09-12-2007, 06:45 AM
USA residents Preorder the Oblivion with Bells CD/DVD now for $15.99 - or with a limited edition t-shirt for only $24.99 - and you'll get instant mp3 downloads of "Crocodile" and "Crocodile (Oliver Huntemann Dub Remix)". Go here for details and to order: http://underworld.echospin.com
On October 16th, Side One Recordings will release Underworld's Oblivion with Bells, the duo's fifth studio album and their first since A Hundred Days Off in 2002. On Oblivion with Bells, the Underworld palette is richer than ever: epic techno nestles next to frail acoustics, beatific prose next to sharp, urban observation, amazing sound texturing mix with mobile phone recordings.
The limited edition DVD includes Tomato directed music videos of Metal Friend (previously unreleased), Crocodile and Good Morning Cockerel, live show visuals for Rez, and 3 slide shows including the Abbey Road recording session for the album with photos by Underworld, Live in Tokyo with photos by Perou, and the Book of Jam Art Jam curated and created by Tomato.

I just want to make sure I have this down, since the description on the site was vague. This pre-order includes the actual Oblivion with Bells CD, correct? The $24.99 option including downloads of MP3s of the entire album threw me off a little.
Also, I assume the t-shirt sizes are US and not European?

if the shirts are similar to the ones they're selling on the tour, i would say they're the more snug fitting ones (i bought XL tour shirts and it's more like a regular US large)

right then i don't wanna diss anyone who's questioned the pre-order, but it seems fairly simple...
so for all those who can't read / understand basic english
the text says the following:
LIMITED EDITION t-shirt NOT AVAILABLE ANYWHERE ELSE
(this basically means that you cannot get it anywhere else - therefore its is not being sold anywhere else, and therefore it is different to anywhere else)
This offer is only available to US RESIDENTS
(this basically means that if you are a resident of the following countries Canada, England, Holland, Germany, Japan, France, Argentina, Portgal, Scotland, Togo, Vatican City, etc., YOU DO NOT LIVE IN THE US AND CANNOT ORDER THIS ITEM!)
i'm not in the US i understand this
i know some people get over excited by these offers and things that are going on - and sometimes get excitement blindness, but come on numbnuts... read before asking dumb ass questions
(If indeed this offer is extended beyond the US and / or the T-shirt becomes less limited or exclusive, and you bought it, you haven't lost out have you????)
<end rant>
patrick
09-13-2007, 04:43 AM
thanks for the rant matt, but the canada one should be understandable, because if you live here, you know that when it means "available to us only" often means "us (and canada)" with a bit of extra shipping charges. it happens soemtimes and sorry if it bugs you so much that a few of us are interested in finding out...

the order form asks for state OR PROVINCE. zip code or POSTAL CODE. so by reading that, i thought...hey....perhaps theres a canadian way of getting this. otherwise, why else would they give postal code and provicial options (both applicable to canadian addresses)
you see, if you look at a map, and if you take a look at the free trade laws between here and the USA, you will realize that the vast majority of items available to the continental U.S. are also available to Canadian residents as well. normally this is how it goes.
i was also asking yannick directly because, he either is now (or very recently used to be) a Canadian citizen. so i figured if he was advertising the purchase, there might be a way around it.
so...i wasn't totally off-base or blindly retarded by asking about Canadian residents.
so, "numbnuts", keep your needless fucking rants to yourself. i was just trying to get some information.
edit- so, having said that...lets just keep the thread on topic. for all the lucky bastards who get this deal, i look fwd to hearing about what's on the DVD ;)

Me: "Yeah.. no. I mean I want the style, but in the men's shirt"
Guy: "That's a ladies shirt. I mean, if you want it, I'll give it to you.. but it might not fit."
Me: "Listen.. FUCK! Just give me the blue one."

weird album version though. i know they like to drag things out like in moaner and stuff, but it's literally the same thing for practically 2 minutes, and it's really.. not worth that much time.

Hello!
Would someone who lives in the States be so kind and order me the OWB + t-shirt set and send it to me? I would pay you back with PayPal. I live in Helsinki(00120), Finland.
PM or send e-mail to me if you want to help me out.
Thank you,

most certainly not getting this limited edition. that would be crazy. i'm sure we'll be getting the standard cd, no dvd, no tshirt.
order this set and if for some crazy chance they do send 3000 people this bonus package, you can sell the other set on Ebay.

Once again, I have a theory- that this version isn't actually the authentic, complete, OWB version. Why? Because the "Biro the Leggy" pad only appears from about ~6:20 to ~6:52, which is odd, because I thought it would serve as the bridge between Crocodile and Beautiful Burnout on the album. Maybe the pad builds, or is more complex, or just does something other than fade out on the album version?
Again, I'm only theorizing. Perhaps a certain person (being much more familiar with the song than I) could present some wisdom as to the nature of the ending? Hint, hint? :D

I emailed Echospin last night about the possibility of them offering t-shirts again with the pre-order. I was able to get one for myself, but I was planning on ordering another one as a gift. Below is there response.
Hi Jason, we just ran out of t-shirts. We are trying to convince the
printer to make up an extra batch. If they agree, you will be able to
order one but it will delay delivery of the CD for at least a week,
probably more. You will still get the MP3 downloads next Tuesday. Would
you be interested in this offer?

I got my pre-order package in the mail today! The shirt is totally sweet.
Got mine this morning too. Been at work and haven't had a chance to listen to OWB yet. I intentionally stayed away from downloading pre-release copy so the majority of the tracks will be new to me (minus live stuff I heard at both SF shows)! Won't have much time to listen tonight as I have a concert (Patrick Wolf) but I'm setting aside time tomorrow after work!

The CD packaging is impressive and beautiful.
The t-shirt looks great. Glad I ordered the XL. I think the large would have been too short. If Prince can wear purple, then it's good enough for me!

I just got the e-mail for the Echospin album MP3s. Although I was lucky enough to get the album on the 15th, I was curious to see if Echospin's downloads would work on my computer, given the system requirements on the site (I'm running Linux on PowerPC, possibly THE worst merger of two relatively popular platforms!). The good news is twofold: the downloads worked perfectly (they're basically just links, exactly like the initial Crocodile + remix links) and the MP3s are vbr of very high quality; I'm guessing settings around lame -V 0 (I used -V 1 to encode the CD and the Echospin dowloads had higher bitrates). If it worked for me, it'll work for anyone! Only one bad thing: the MP3s appear to have no ID3 tags. If you get the e-mail, but haven't received the CD yet, go for it. You'll be able to hear the album pretty transparently :) Thanks, Echospin, and most of all, thanks Underworld!
