I've been meaning to read Cormac McCarthy as of late (just ordered The Road from amazon actually) and I just find out that there is an upcoming movie based on his book coming out. It looks fucking good and the cast is impressive too.

And the film is adapted(written/directed) by the Coen Brothers and the novel seems right up their alley.

I just wish a better poster (http://hollywood-elsewhere.com/archives/2007/07/no_country_ones.php) would've been created. Oh well, I'm sure there is a better poster being produced outside of the states.

For some clips of the film, including more of Javier Bardem asking someone to call the coin toss check out a few of the links at the following site.

Have you read Blood Meridian yet Green Pea?

Nope, I was going to start with that but then I found out that his new one was a terribly depressing post-apocalyptic novel so I went with that instead. But yeah I hear Blood Meridian being name dropped a lot.

There is a new trailer for the film. It's a red band trailer containing excessive violence and intensity and wouldn't be able to play on The Nanny Diaries or The Simpsons. At the moment this film and There Will Be Blood are what I'm most looking forward to in the fall, besides the new underworld album and the Blade Runner Final Cut.
