I don't wanna whine, but...5 dates in Germany, 9 dates in the UK, and only.....3 in all of North America?

I love Underworld and (I think) am probably willing to travel 1,000 miles to see them, since it seems that's what will be needed. Several of my friends also know and like UW and several more (who don't know UW) would definitely enjoy their music, and I believe most of them would be willing to drive an hour or two for an UW show, but going 1,000 miles or more for a concert is not in their reality, no matter how much I'd like to share it with them.

I love seeing Underworld live. This is disappointing.

Yes, I know that the official word is "more dates to be confirmed", but given the dates posted and the lead times needed when booking and ticketing larger venues, it seems likely we'll see maybe one or two more US dates, or perhaps none. Of course I could be (and certainly hope that I'm) wrong. Having to wait five years for a tour only to have the closest show be 1,000 miles away is a serious drag.

you are whining. accept it, it's just another "why don't you play in my living room" thread.

I know I'm whining, but I wouldn't consider half of the US and all of Canada and Mexico "my living room".

"My continent" maybe, but that may just be the megalomania acting up again. :D

2 roundtrip tickets from toronto to amsterdam = $1200 CAN.
2 tickets for amsterdam and belgium gig = maybe 200 euro.
beer and hash consumed = $200-300 euro.
not waiting for UW announce a toronto gig, and seeing them back to back nights in different countries...
PRICELESS.

come on...lets make this tour the dirtiest of all dirty meets.

Awesome.

I guess I am the wrong person to ask too, seeing as in 2005 I flew from London to Brussels, hired a car, drove from Brussels to Tilburg, then the next day from Tilburg to Luxemburg (via Belgium for a pick-up on route) then the next day from Luxemburg back to Gent (thankfully not doing most of the driving that day).

So... er... yeah. :D

who are all you people with money.
give me some.

i'm perfectly willing to scrap my way 400 miles to LA somehow for the hollywood bowl, but that's my limit and i'd spend some months trying to trying to financially recover from that.

so i'm willing, i just really dont want to if i dont have to.
besides, they nearly always drop by SF.

but scott n co will be at the LA one giving out shit.
so many decisions.....

and three dates in the US *is* a jip. it's not "play in my living room" talk. theres 1500 miles stretches between these dates. we could fit several of that island called the UK in between new york and denver, so stuff it.

i still think there's going to be a few more north america dates that will be announced. of course i don't have any proof of that. it's just a guess.

that said, i'm travelling from madison, wi to california for the la gig since my girlfriend's brother is getting married in sacramento the night before. going to rent a car and take in the uw show :)

i havent been on any type of vacation since 1987 or so.
i think this qualifies me and my gf for a 5 day BENDER of Underworldian fantasies.
i also think i will be getting my first tattoo in Amsterdam while there...
im thinking of just the Beaucoup Fish white and blue circle.

On their last tour of US, I drove 780 miles from NC to Chicago. This time I live in TX and will go to CO. I will wait to bitch more after they announce more dates.

i would, and will, travel >1000 miles to see Underworld perform in Central Park, NYC. Not gonna miss them like i did in 2002 :D
Anyway, i'm in Philly the next week, fulfilling my childhood dream of seeing Genesis perform. So, if i have to travel to the NE to see the shows, might as well make it worth my while/$

(not that i wouldn't mind a tourdate in Houston, too...like that will ever happen!:p )

The reason why I live in NY

The reason you live in NY is to see underworld once every 5 years? There might be more to do in the city than you realize.

I flew down the west coast in 02 to see underworld in San Francisco, and it was a great time. At the moment financial obligations make a trip beyond that or LA an option I do not have. As much I would like to go, I can't, but I've really been flirting with selling material possessions that have accumulated over the years specifically to fly down to LA. A friend lives a couple blocks from the bowl and it would be fun to meet the dirts and scott.

All that aside, I would love a seattle, portland(not bloody likely), or vancouver bc show.

If you base your choice of city on the amount of uw performances you could also consider Tilburg :D .

Try 5,000 miles for me. But I am NOT missing them this year. I might even consider hopping over to Japan when they go there in November.

i’m really surprised they aren’t making it back to chicago. the last two shows there were incredible (including 2002 when the macs died). 2002 had an unbelievable version of rowla which I believe I will listen to again now…..

chicago again please, it’s just a 3.5hr skip from iowa.

Didn't they do something like this before Beaucoup Fish? There was 3-city mini US tour, then Europe, and then a more complete North American tour. Not like I went to any of those concerts anyways, since the venues all had age restrictions. I was stuck waiting until the 2002 tour. Thankfully now there's no 25+ clubs.

Maybe I'll go to the show in NYC.

I've got to agree with the topic creator on this one. I mean, it sounds absurd if you think about it. UW is playing 5 gigs in Germany (a country half the size of Texas) and 8 gigs in the UK (home country, but with less than 1/5th of the United States' population), but only three shows in the USA. The USA shows are also all located near the edges of the country, making it extraordinarily difficult for anyone in the middle (read: me) to get to the shows. I don't know anything about planning shows, so maybe it's a logistical impossibility.

I love Underworld's music, and as long as they keep putting out good tunes, they can play live wherever and whenever they want. But, seriously. Just one show in the middle of the country....just one...

On a less whiny note, I'm trekking out to Lollapalooza this summer to see The Rapture, LCD Soundsystem, and Daft Punk. :) They're probably the only decent bands that have ever come anywhere near the Midwest...any other dirts going?

i think if they were offered more show they would do them.its not just a case of wanting to play somewhere its finding a promoter thats willing to do the show and then trying to make things cost effective.
i think that underworld want to play a gig the size of something they would do in larger cities in europe to make doing gigs in america not lose money.if they aren't taking tour support, like i'm sure lcd would do, to tour america smaller gigs don't work out for a band.
i think that they will see how the album goes and then be back around coachella.i have deduced this will the knowledge of the music biz i have picked up during my years at elmbridge borough council !:)

I'll be at Lolla. We'll probably hit LCD and Daft Punk, but mainly are looking forward to MIA (if she shows) and TV on the Radio, who are absolutely amazing live. And then of course there's Iggy.

I'm sure UW will be doing more US dates later on. They know there's more than LA, Denver, and NYC. Just wait.

I will also likely be going to Lollapalooza. It was a great time last year. Glad to see others are going.
