Just listening to the Fuji gig, where the beautiful end section of "Cups" mixes into "Rowla"...just lovely!
i recall a few gigs where Underworld played the whole "Cups" track, starting with the chilled-out vocal section. i think this occured at one of the "Temptation" shows, and maybe a few others. Seems like an odd track to do live, as it's a long build (8 or 9 minutes).
With the exception of "Jumbo" and maybe "Oich Oich" or the beginning of "Twist", what are some of the downtempo moments from the gigs? Heck, Karl and the crowd need a breather every now and then, right?

well, they did play Thing in a Book live once :)
Some of the new tracks they're playing now are pretty chilled as well.

i was privy to a version of Rowla in Boston (1999? 1998?) where the rawness was subdued and Karl sang some great chill lyrics over top. from what i remember (and this was 5+ years ago) the version was very mellow except for a few accents in the rolling bassline. was quite nice. would LOVE to hear that one again *nudge nudge nudge* *nudges DAT tapes towards R & K*

They played Little Speaker live in San Francisco in October of 2002. I believe this is the only time this track was played live on the entire tour. They didn't have the juanita speaking track playing over the music as well so it made it even more special. If only there were a live recording of this show out there somewhere.

Why is it odd to dance at a slower rhythm? To me there is no build in that song at all, just a change of texture.
I really hope that in future shows they have the guts to play more slower songs like Sola Sistim and Cups(full version) and Sappy's Curry for example than easy floorfilling stompers such as Born Slippy and Moaner. It's not the rhythm or beat alone that makes the music of Underworld so good.
I understand what you mean though it may seem odd because maybe then lots of people wouldn't be dancing as much, but I think Underworld transcend that word: ''dance''

The intro from "Kiteless" on Everything, Everything, is still the best?

well... other than the previously mentioned 'chill bits'
they did play Dirty Epic a few times on the last tour, which was a bit of a breather you know? - well, save for like the part that goes "all went... mental... and DANCED!"
Five Points also...
and Please Help Me

Hey, that's right! There were a few appearances of "Please Help Me" in the Beaucoup gigs. And "Five Points" was always a good time to reflect!
Someone remind me...was "S.W.F.A.B.N.F.T." from Tramway '94 a downtempo number?

I think you've got the location mixed up on that performance. Tramway '94 is the one where they play:
Dark & Long / Dark Train
Cowgirl / Rez (btw - a pretty dubby version)
Born Slippy (sort of a mix of mult versions w/ NUXX lyrics)
Dogman Go Woof (Spoonman Lyrics) / Mmm Skyscraper
(edit)
I am pretty sure "S.W.F.A.B.N.F.T." is a name for one of the improvs on either: 1995 Leicester University, Sheffield Univ. Octagon, UK (10/13/94) or ...erm I forget

You're right! It's the Sheffield Octagon performance!
Someone's bound to ask, so the track "S.W.F.A.B.N.F.T" means "Someone Will Find A Better Name For This":p

true, the only time they've played Little Speaker thus far. I actually thought the song was weak.
years ago Yannick said there was a live recording of the Oct 2002 SF show and that it would appear in time. anyone got any info on this? please!

I really liked it.
Maybe Yannick has some info on this recording.

I think I would just shit myself to hear Winjer live. I think its one of their least talked about works of genius. It just gets me where it counts.

Agreed, Winjer is genious... I would love to hear them play Confusion The Waitress again sometime.

I believe this conversation talks about multiple gigs, but the fuji gig mentioned in the OP is gonna be from 99. I just reuploaded it to the tracker. The old version didn't have any seeds and I couldn't get my client to recognize my copy as the same files for some reason, so it's there now.
