....a camp boy detective and his little fluffy dawg.
Tintin is to be the next big trilogy (http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=20704).
Spielberg, Jackson and Dreamworks have been quietly developing the project over the past twelve months, with the two directors announcing that they will direct one film each. A third director is still being sought.
Hmm. I never liked Tintin. But with these guys on board, it should be interesting.

Damn this makes me feel old!
Saturday morning pictures: "Hergeeeees Adveeeeentuuuuures of Tin-Tiiiiiin" boomed the voice at the beginning of each episode.
I have quite a few of the books and one or two of the videos from the Canadian-produced TV series a few years back. And I still love them :D
And Tin-Tin isn't camp! He's just posh! :p

“We’re making them look photorealistic,” he says. “The fibres of their clothing, the pores of their skin and each individual hair. They look exactly like real people – but real HergĂ© people”.
It worked so well for Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within.
If the story is good I guess this could work; I'd have more faith in the project if Pixar was doing it.

I'm sure WETA can pull this off. I grew up reading the Tintin comic books, and there are definitely some great classic stories in there. Not to mention some great characters (although Tintin himself is a bit of a douchebag ;)).
Here's hoping for a movie version of the Men on the Moon story (or whatever that was called in english).
It definitely interesting to see that after the onslaught of movies based on american comics, we're gonna be seeing some european stuff now. (yes I know there have been other movies based on European comics, but those were usually quite low-key productions)
Now if only we could get some Blake & Mortimer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blake_and_Mortimer) movies...
