Sweet Baby James! $182?! Someone wanted this bad! :o
imho, that's a borderline unjustifiable amount. i feel ripped off when a single costs $12 and only has three tracks! But like every other collectible on ebay or elsewhere, this is worth only whatever someone will pay for it. Today it was worth $182.

15 mins before it ended, it was £25. then at the last minute there were loads of bids and it rocketed to £104! to be honest, the final price doesnt surprise me but the way it shot up does.

its a £100 record no doubt...don't foget that 'The Hump' is only avialable on this 12" and there are only 499 in existence...

and its also the only release on Underworld's Tomato label....

so £100 is a bit light...

i mean who has it and who doesn't?

ok ! ok ! here for the people who think i am faking

I received this record in Dec1991 in a white sleeve (maybe Promo?)
on one side before the middle hole is an carving "dog man go woof"
the subline to over the hump is :the hump 1- wild beasts and the hump 2 - groove without a doubt - remixed by stepping razor/ emerson &smith.

If somebody needs a picture I am willing to send it in the next few days

Haagen

i didn't think you were faking, i was just poking fun at my persistant state of financial ruin by humorlessly asking you to give me this vinyl of yours, the joke of course being that if you actually did give it to me for free, several heads in the room would EXPLODE.

edit: i would really dig a "dinosaur adventure 3d" shirt as i think it's pretty rad even if you didnt know it was an underworld song.

big screen satellite

that DA3D t-shirt - is a custom made one using 'the click n create' transfers offered a while back on the merchandising site...

and Darth, no one was complaining about you offering the Hump (or even thought that you were faking), i have it as a collector, but there are certainly many people here who will buy it from you, especially lloyd...he's yer man ;)

been scouring the web for a copy of this and the only one available is for sale on Discogs.com for $402.38 (http://www.discogs.com/Underworld-Mother-Earth-The-Hump/release/126592) ... it's been up there for a while. not sure anyone in their right mind would pay that much for vinyl rated VG instead of MINT.

at any rate, if anyone has a copy they'd be willing to part with for something less than excessive, let me know.

wow, talk about bringing back threads from the dead!

i know the vinyl kick can be addicting once you get it!

well, considering there were only 500 copies, ok maybe 497 (i think
i read 3 were messed up)... i know that when i tried to get one off
ebay, the seller said it was broken, but had another copy, which is
the one i ended up with..

mine is VG condition, with one minor scratch on the b-side i think.

i have no idea how much it is worth, or if/when i would sell it.
there are 37 other people that have this listed at discogs,
and if you're serious you should try contacting them.

but this is one of the hardest and rarest to find releases from them period.

i know they have a few more limited promos out there,
like the 'confusion the waitress (remix)' acetate,
but since this is one of the first for 'underworld' mk2, it has more of a historical
significance and should be more valuable.

Well, OK, so I recently decided that my Underworld collection needed expanding, and so I started considered obtaining releases that I hadn't previously considered, including this one. So, I was watching prices on auctions and other marketplaces for a couple months and determined that £100 was about the current going rate for a good copy.

A week ago, I happened on a closed eBay UK auction that no one had bid on. The guy had related the history of the record in the auction description. Basically, the seller worked in a record store in the 90's, and Rick had come by selling them, asking that the stores "sell them to the big DJ's". The guy bought 5 copies for himself, one to listen to, and 4 to go into storage. He sold off 2 of them a few years ago, but now he's hard up for money, so he decided to sell this mint, unplayed copy.

The auction had closed with no bids at £100. I sent him a message and worked out a private sale for £110. He mentioned that he was reluctant to sell his last unplayed copy, but was considering it because he needed the money. I knew ultradave had been looking to purchase a copy, because we had been bidding against each other on some recent stuff, so I referred him to the seller. ultradave offered a premium over what I had paid, and the guy relented.

My copy arrived today, and I'm really pleased with it. It's really is gorgeous. Absolutely pristine surfaces. ultradave is going to love his copy when it arrives.

Yeah. Sad but true.

I recently visited this site where all the hard-to-find remixes and longer versions, etc previously only available on long out-of-print releases were available in pristine 320 kbps. You had to pay a buck per track into this paypal account and ALL the proceeds went to a charity of UW's choosing....

It was me who was offering Mother Earth 12" to Ultradave and the Bang.
I mentioned it over here some time ago and they both sent me private messages asking about it. After there lucky break, i still have my copy and before i try to sell it on Ebay or Discogs i'm posting here my intentions.

My price still is about 150 Euros, this includes shipping to anywhere in the World with traceable code, if you'd like insure that will cost about 25 euros more. That's about 125 GBP. Bear in mind that 150 Euros was the amount i have paid for it some years ago. Of course my copy isn't mint but it was very well kept and is in excelent condition. It was played very few times by me.

About people asking for quality transfers from the vinyl, i think some years ago, no one dared to ask about that over here right? ;-)

That translates to about $205USD. That isn't a bad price. There are 3 now listed at Discogs, however the cheapest in similar condition is going for about $187GBP shipped, that's just under $300USD... now that's just too much... the other 2 are listed over $300USD shipped

:D:D Happy Day :D:D

In anticipation I opened a package shipped from overseas in a box covered in brown tape. Inside the box was bubble wrap and plastic bags. Inbetween was a brown eco-friendly padded envelope which contained, yet another envelope made of cardboard. Now what was inside all of this was a mint copy of the Mother Earth 12".

I had to explain to my co-workers who have no idea who underworld are, what it was that I was excited about as I held up this nice shiny black plastic disc.

Unfortunately right now the Numark PT-100 portable record player I have is hardly worthy of this 12" - so it will remain in an unplayed state until I can find worthy equipment. I know there are several replacement needles for this player, BUT, is it worth it to upgrade the needle or invest in a nicer record player?
